To kick it off, I just placed my order for the first two Witcher books, The Last Wish and Sword of Destiny. Now to wait until they arrive.

At 2037 yesterday evening I finished The Sword of the Lictor, volume three of Gene Wolfe's The Book of the New Sun, and soon afterward began reading volume four, The Citadel of the Autarch.

i read anything neal stephenson (last one: "seveneves") and david marusek (last one: "mind over ship", sequel out soon from what i heard) release (which i never regretted), and whatever friends give me and tell me to read (which i regret about 2/3 of times, but the remaining third is worth keeping up the practice)

and generally, i prefer contemporary authors, and i rank them by some type of "interesting thoughts per page" ratio (you wouldn't believe how many authors this kicks out if you just set a minimum of 1 already :-)

Still reading War and Peace in my Kindle Fire. I had resisted reading from a tablet for years because I'm old fashioned and stubborn, but man, I wish I started reading from a tablet years ago. I absolutely love it.

I left ASOIAF for too long, so I'm going to start again from the beginning and enjoy the series over the summer :)

I'm also reading Daughter of the Empire by Raymond Feist and Janny Wurts. It's a good book, but I feel at times the two authors' styles clash and at parts you can very much tell that one part was written by a man who writes short sentences and other parts were written by a woman who writes longer sentences. Both good styles, but it's a bit jarring to see the change sometimes from page to page and even sentence to sentence. But otherwise I'd give it a healthy 7.5/10

I thought Blood of Elves was the second Witcher book?

It's the third one, according to what I've read. It's also the first full novel of the series - the two before it are short story collections.

ETA - after doing a bit more reading, it looks like I was partly mistaken. Blood of Elves was the second book in the series that was published, but the third one in the story line progression.

Hello! It's been a really long time since I last read a book (sad I know) but I picked up one called Big Jack is Dead. It's by Harvey Smith, one of the guys behind Deus Ex and Dishonored. About family abuse and how that shapes a person. Almost done, haven't decided if I like it though.

I bought Dune at a used book store recently, I should read that soon too.

I've been debating about an e-reader (in my head) for about a year now. I wonder if I should "take the plunge", too...
