What browser do you prefer?

Post » Sat Mar 22, 2014 3:25 am

M'aiq knows that this has nothing to do with Skyrim, but M'aiq doesn't know where to put it.

M'aiq has always wondered this.. What browser do you prefer?

M'aiq absolutely LOVES, LOVES Mozilla Firefox. He is currently using Torch Browser to try it out. He is starting to miss Firefox though. :(

---

M'aiq will also list the top 10 internet browsers.. (http://internet-browser-review.toptenreviews.com/)

  1. Mozilla Firefox
  2. Google Chrome
  3. Internet Explorer
  4. Opera
  5. Apple Safari
  6. Maxthon
  7. RockMelt

Firefox is my favorite too. It seems to be the most compatible browser for my purposes.

Firefox all the way. Simple and easy, including the apps like ghostery. Not sure if internet explorer has things like that which blocks all adds and stuff, even on youtube, but I don't much care to find out.

It seems as though I spend half my time these days having your threads moved to the proper forum. ;)

But anyway, I use Firefox.

Firefox for me, too.

I am trying my darndest to get away from Google. What they did with YouTube and their practices with user browsing information does not sit well with me. Google IS very convenient, being all over the place, but just a touch intrusive for my tastes :)

Chrome wins. Always. Faster and easier to use, and more compatible with Google products (duh) which I use for everything. The tracking-web-usage thing is a bit of a con but it is mentioned in the Privacy Policy, and I don't do anything that I care if they track, so...

By the way, that site of yours... IDK why it listed Firefox first, but it gave Chrome a higher rating (9.85 vs. 9.32). So Chrome is #1.

Just the fact that they track your usage is enough of a con for me to not use or trust Chrome (and Google). The way I see it, it's an invasion of privacy.

Firefox. I don't really trust Chrome, and I have no reason to switch anyway.

I'll be migrating back to Firefox after many years on Opera. The reason being is that Opera is effectively dead. New releases are Yet Another Chrome Clone?.

Given that there's Chromium, I'm not particularly leery of the Chrome family from a privacy standpoint, I just don't care for the interface.

I'm also both worried and disappointed in what's happening to the browser landscape. Webkit/Blink is creating yet another IE6 in terms of monoculture. Worst of this is webkit's css vendor prefixes (vendor prefixes in general are a bad thing). Also, contrary to the claims that Webkit is a great standards-compliant browser (Presto actually had better HTML5 support before it died), http://blog.methvin.com/2013/02/tragedy-of-webkit-commons.html.

Depends on what I'm doing. For most browsing I use Chrome since I jump from iOS to laptop to desktop very frequently throughout the day. Plus Chrome seems all around good for me. Sometimes I use IE for those times Chrome flat out refuses to load a YouTube video or I have to fill out a form that doesn't support Chrome. Also websites that have music embedded into their code (rob.com is an example) won't play the music on Chrome.

I used to love Firefox, but when I tried to open it on my brand new laptop last year after installing it, it refused to open, so I stopped using Firefox all together.

I don't really like any of them, but Firefox seems to be the least worst. Or at least I'm sticking with it for now because I use a swathe of plugins that have built up a lot of config data like CookieCuller and NoScript. I use Opera as my backup if something doesn't work in FF or I need a different session.

I use Firefox, Google Chrome and Opera.

It's better to have multiple browsers.
