What Can You Play That's Not A Guitar?

I've played guitar for years now and have just started learning the mandolin.

A lot of folk instruments. Fiddle, banjo, mandolin, autoharp, mountain dulcimer, harmonica, jaws harp, pan pipes, concertina. My first instrument was drums. I can also play mallet instruments a bit: vibes mostly, but a bit of marimba.

Absolutely nothing, including a guitar. I have zero talent for musical instruments, which is a little surprising, I figured I could at least handle a piano due to fairly dexterous fingers(I can type(with corrected mistakes factored in) at about 125 wpm, but nope, not even that. My singing voice is also quite bad. Not "American Idol epic failure" bad, but bad enough over-all.

The euphonium, which I played at what some might deem a semi professional level for some years. Lost my embouchure circa 1989 following dental work. Can't produce a sound on it now that doesn't resemble a weak duck call. No great loss. I was never more than a flawed mediocrity who got a few lucky breaks.

One of my regrets, only recently acquired, is that I never pursued piano. Had little interest in it early on. Nowadays I regret not being able to butcher some of my favorite musical works, such and the Beethoven piano sonatas, some Mozart and Schubert, and so on. Too late now for a number of valid reasons. Maybe next incarnation.

I don't even know how to play guitar. Last instrument I played was the recorder back in elementary school.

I started learning the keyboard last year, I'm picking it you much much quicker than the guitar I've been playing for almost 15 years. I think I'm better suited for the keyboard.

I'm learning nightwish, black label society and savatage songs mostly. I'm liking it.

I took Orchestra from 5th grade all the way through the end of high school, but I was never more than passable. I can read sheet music but it was just a hobby.

I played Viola, but I can manage violin, cello, and bass. One year I got a nice acoustic guitar but never got the hang of it. I think I donated the guitar but I've still got my Viola somewhere in the basemant.

All of my cousins are accomplished musicians (one plays in the Rochester Symphony Orchestra.) The knack never really took in our side of the family though.

I'd like my son to learn the basics though. It comes in handy and just for music appreciation if nothing else.

I play bass. I suppose some people would call it a "bass guitar", but in spite of being a guitar-like instrument, it isn't one and isn't played like one. I probably own more basses than my amount of skill deserves, and what rather dubious skill I possess is rather less than the 30 years of on-and-off playing says it should be! But I can be a passable bass player if pressed into service, I suppose. Personally I think I'm a bit crap, though I can play fretless, surprisingly (to me, at least).

Used to play keyboard fairly well but it's been years since I played. Maybe one day I'll dedicate some time playing again.

Pff, rake amateur... I can play anything, as long as it comes with a button labeled 'play', that I then push. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sC75aU47GRk

Other than the guitar I play the Tin Whistle. I'll probably pick up the flute after college.

I'm trying to become a professional bassoon player, but I can also play a bit of piano, concert harp, and bass guitar.

I've been playing the tin whistle for the past few years, fairly simple tunes and it sounds reasonably musical. I have a bodhran drum but simply don't have the strength to even lift it anymore, thanks to M.E. or whatever it is. I've been really enjoying messing around with synthesizer apps on android recently, mostly with a child-like glee at making the strangest sounds possible but the results could in no way be regarded as music. Not yet anyway.

I've always hugely admired multi instrumentalists such as Pseron, but it's only in recent years that I've gained the confidence to even try to learn an instrument - ironically just when least able to, physically.

Started with trumpet in 4th grade. The switched to tuba in 8th grade. Played that all through college, too :)

Does voice count? I sing OK and on pitch :)

I play a little bass guitar and know one or two melodies on the piano. I hope to pick up the strings one day. Something about the viola and cello just sound wonderful to my ears.

Trumpet and bass. Not particularly good at either. I used to be pretty decent at bass, even recorded a somewhat decent album with the band I played in during my high school years. I haven't played much in the past few years though.
