what characters do you think will return from fallout 3

Surprised no one has thought of this character,

Desmond.

[censored] yes. I'd love to see Desmond back.

Maybe he's a full companion and has half a dozen companion quests where you go after people who are part of his Great Game.

Gary. Gary! Gary?

The only one I'm sure of is Dr. Li. Three Dog might be back, and the GNN billboard is promising, but apparently his "Three Dog's coming back!" tweets from 2013 aren't for anything published by Bethesda. I'd love to see Jiub Desmond again, too, but couldn't you kill him in Point Lookout?

I'd rather they leave canon ambiguous, but honestly anyone cruel enough to kill Three Dog deserves to have their choice officially un-canon'd.

If anyone is returning then I want Uncle Leo random encounters again. Perhaps he could explain the whole super mutant situation in the region.

If I get to kill his lazy, judgmental, hypocritical ass again, then sure, I'm okay with Three-Dog coming back.

I like this too, but I would use something slower than a laser. :shifty:

i'm aware i'm pretty much the only one in the existing universe with this :-), but i actually think that whole lamplight theme had high potential - which went totally unused, i suspect some major undone questline around lamplight / big town.

i mean basically they both just were there for not much more than foliage, and you wouldn't need to construct that whole "remainder kids from a bus surviving in a cave and establishing their own community that expels them to some extra town for their 18th birthday" plot just for 2 pointless locations.

I think we will see Dr. Li and Desmond Lockheart in person.

I hope we don't see, but hear about Ashur and Marie in the Pitt, as well as the Lyons and Squire Maxson. I would love to find someone representing the Pitt in this game, like a trader, or even an ambassador. And while I hope the BoS aren't in this one, there's no way we won't get a few updates on the crew from Fallout 3, which I do want.

When is Fallout 4 taking place? If it is only a few years after FO3 or FONV, maybe. If it is 50 years after, maybe only Desmond (and only if he hasn't already taken care of business and moved on).

I doubt anyone from the previous game will return. The games are usually set quite a long time apart, although i think we'll see or hear a lot about important characters from Fallout 3.

Apparently Three Dog already leaked that he would be back, not sure if that's true though.

We don't know when it takes place, but Bethesda have said they don't want to travel back in time. And as many people have pointed out before, they can't keep doing decades-long time jumps if they want to keep the series even remotely chaotic. By now we've got sprawling nations and civilized societies dotting the wasteland. Give it 50 years and there will only be more. It makes the most sense to skip as little time as necessary between games so the world doesn't move too far forward.

Of course, they could just do it anyway. But it'd be a tad annoying if they did it and kept most of the world in a state similar to Fallout 3.
