Yeah, a huge, huge cardboard box to built a house... I used to dream about this!

And Legos is ALWAYS a must, even for girls... might not built the same things as boys but who cares.

Attention.

If you give a kid attention, they will enjoy being around you.

Are you kidding? Kids are easy. They want toys and candy. Sometimes a pony or a little brother. But mostly just toys and candy.

Well not every kid can be Zack the LEGO Maniac. If you want to know what they want, run them up to Toys R Us and let them run around for a while. You'll get a good idea what they're into after about 10 minutes.

Toys R Us don't exist in the city I'm in.

Ha ha I see what you did there.

I got my little nephew (1.5 yrs) one of these activity ball for christmas . It has little buttons for sounds and lights up crazy when you roll it around. Evidently it was a big hit, second only to every kids' favorite, the large cardboard box.

Well, TV is a bad influence on very young kids. I wouldn't let them watch TV until they are 5, and even then limit it.
But I'm not one to judge. Hell, I grew up on Power-Rangers and Pokemon.

Also, this may sound weird but show emotion when you're teaching them a life lesson, or use examples from your own life. Helped my upbringing a ton.

Your souls. They are like candy to them.

Oh wait, did you say children?
Then they just want the candy.

Affection, reassurance, the security of knowing there are limits, consistency in discipline, love, and your undivided attention when it's really important.

If one of you says a dog, I'm going to bludgeon my wall with the power of this owl. :spotted owl:

But then again, a dog doesn't seem far off.

The following is a statement from the Ambassador to the Global Union of Babies: "Stop taking our candy, trust us, we know how easy it is to take things from babies, as does everyone else in the world. There is no need to continue practicing this type of robbery upon us just to prove a point." To his distaste, the Ambassador was informed shortly after that nobody actually takes candy from babies.

To sum that little quip up, when I was kid, I just wanted people to treat me with more intellect and respect.

Kids don't have a clue what they want.

As children, we're so ADD in general (even without having ADD) that they are targeted by advertisers so they'll pester mom and dad to buy them junk they really don't want or need.

Ask any kid when they're older what they wanted most from mom and dad....more quality time.

Toys are nice, but being able to relate to your parents as human beings because they were there for you is the one thing you value the most when you outgrow the childish things.
