What City/Town will you go to first?

Post » Tue Sep 06, 2011 8:11 am

Here is a quick description of the Cities/Towns I found.

Dawnstar
This garrison town rests on the northcoast of Skrim. In the 283 year of the Second Empire the Potentate Versiude-Shaie declared marshal law after the destruction of the Dawnstar Fortress. This lead to one of the bloodiest and most brutal times in Tamriel history.

Falkreath
This town is in the south west corner of Skyrim and sits close to the border of Cyridiil and Hammerfell. At one time this town was part of Cyridiil.

Markarth Side
This city is famous for possessing the Imperial College of the Voice and is in the west-central area of Skyrim. The College was founded by Tiber Septim to restore the Voice to the art of warfare.

Rifton
This city is also knows as Riften and is in the southeast. It is close to the border with Cyrodiil and Morrowind. Barenziah joined the Theives Guild in Rifton during her return to Morrowind from exile in Skyrim.

Whiterun
This city is in central Skyrim and is where Barenziah escaped with her young lover for a week during her return to Mournhold. This area used to be referred to as the “Imperial City of Skyrim” when it contained Whiterun and High Hrothgar, now it has dealt with much chaos and feuding, also it has been ravaged by floods, droughts and fires.

Winterhold
This is a powerful and influential city in Skyrim and it has been affected heavily by the customs and ideas of Dunmer. It is in the north east and contains the Ysmir Collective and the College of WInterhold.

Solitude
This chief port of Skyrim contains the famous Bards’ College. Many ships from up and down the coast can be found in Haafingar. The port is always crowded with timber and salted cod for the markets of Wayrest, West Anvil, and Senchal. The Bards’ College was founded during Skyrim’s long Alessian flirtation and continues to flaunt a heretical streak, and its students are famous for being carousers. Students unload for a week of revelry every year which climixes in the burning of “King Olaf” in effigy, possibly a forgotten contender in the War of Succession. Graduates always have an easy time finding jobs in noble households and courts, but some choose to wander in the famous foot steps of alumni like Callisos and Morachellis.

Windhelm
At one time this was the capital of the First Empire. The palace of the Ysgramor Dynasty still dominates the old city at its center. The Palace of the Kings is one of the few First Empire buildings left after the city was ravaged by the War of Succession and again by the Akaviri army of Ada’Soon Dir-Karmal. Today the city is the only sizable relevant city in the rural Hold of Eastmarch. It also serves as a base for Imperial Troops that are guarding the Dunmeth Pass into Morrowind.

I think I'll play until I've unlocked shouts, then explore Whiterun and Falkreath because I think they're closest to the starting location. After I've settled in I'll go on a tour of Skyrim and walk to all the cities of the map.

Whichever town or village is closest when I get free from being executed. That would probably be the town that Todd went to in the demo, but I can't say for sure. And I don't remember the name of that town. But I'll want to stop and sell off some loot and get some supplies before I go trekking all over the countryside.

Riverwood for some initial questing, and then onto Winterhold to join the Mage's Guild.

Out of that list Falkreath is the closest to the starting point, but it seems like Riverwood is even closer.

The first place I will spend any considerable time in will be Solitude, but I have pledged not to fast travel with my first character I will require food and the occasional rest from small towns and villages. To go from south to north skyrim and look out to the sea and maybe even catch a glimpse of an old friend... HORKERS FTW!

I probably won't go to Solitude first, as it will be wherever my travels take me, but out of the described cities, it sounds the most colourful. You have to love port cities...

Definitely will be the first place I aim to go, might stop at others if on the way though.

I'll go to Falkreath, because its one of the three cities closest to the starting point. One of them, Whiterun, is where everyone seems to head from the start and the other hosts the Thieves Guild, so I don't care much for it.
Falkreath just seems like a random town I can go to meet the residents, unload my loot and maybe grab a house before I explore some more.

I probably won't unlock shouts at the beginning of the game...
I think I'll play like 30 side-quests first...
I did something like that in Oblivion...
Each X number of side-quests, I played one MQ...
It worked very well...

I will venture to solitude. why you may ask? So when I was a kid the first rpg I ever played, well scratch that the first open world rpg I played was Morrowind. I loved every second of it. well I didn't know you could read the books. (kinda skipped through the tutorial). Anyway the first book I read was the wolf quenn, I can't remember which one. I just fell in love with the story. just the idea of civil war and creepy skeletal chamber maids just seemed totally cool. so I hunted down every copy I could find by whatever means necessarily and stowed them in my stronghold for all time where they still sit saved on my original x-box. since then I have alwasy wanted to go there and see if I could learn any secrets of the war of red diamond or something. maybe the wolf queens secrets lab or library or even her journal.

No matter Rain, sleet, snow, or overloaded bag of loot (all of which are likely to occur), I will travel far and wide to the city of Winterhold to be reunited with my kinsmer!

Wait. They confirmed horkers?! Ye gods. YES!!!

I don't really know much about the cities. Looking forward to being surprised. Most likely will got to the nearest city and try and make a little money on the way and get some supplies then start questing.

I wrote a small back story for my Nord character who was arrested crossing the border of Cyrodill into Riften, so I'd like to venture there first.

The cities and towns make TES what it is for me. So ill most likely head to the closest one first and then slowly progress around all of them

But Riften is high on my list
