What city would YOU like to be featured in the next Fallout?

New York. I mean, come on, what city is more iconic in the entire world?

Pheonix, Arizona.

I'd love to see The Valley of the Sun post apocalyptic. Maybe most of the state too! Some really nice canyons and forests further north of phx.

If out west, Denver would be cool.

If another east coast city, I'm guessing Philly is next. Bethesda is avoiding NYC for some reason.

Did they (or Obsidian) ever do Chicago? Heh, a city full of Triggerman basically.

^This is why I loved D.C. in 3. Who doesn't use New York as a setting? D.C. was fresh and new, and I loved it.

Personally I thought dc was a terrible choice. It was all empty political buildings which contain nothing worth looting or residential. The Pitt was my favorite.

Wow, you must not have been looking very hard then, there was plenty to do and loot there.

But I do agree with The Pitt, although it was far too small and short for my tastes.

I may be biased due to living close by, seeing Capitol Hill in real life and then in Fallout was amazing, I think I stayed in the DC ruins for way too long

Was disappointed that the white house was totaled, but I guess it makes sense.

As a Canadian I couldn't care less about political sites and those were the only landmarks. DC is more a boring choice for a school trip than a cool location to explore.

Most of the Falloutverse has been subject to desertification. Although in the Commonwealth it seems to have let up a bit, Id still love to see another type of scenery than what was seen in Fallout 3 and New Vegas. Variety is the key here, deserts are hard to get interesting in the first place and I would love to see more landscapes than the traditional large city surrounded by desert/wasteland.

Its a bit of a personal headcanon that the Pacific Northwest is basically a land of horrible rad storms, with constant downpours and massive expanses of scorched and dead trees with haphazard paths cut through them by wastelanders. Deserts are a pretty easy way to communicate the wasteland feeling, but it doesn't have to be the only way.

I totally agree with this. It's been hundreds of years, things should be growing now. Fallout 4 did better with this issue.

It's really not THAT boring. Though it may be because I once had a field trip to the DC Holocaust museum, that was an interesting experience. Also, I got to see where our mess of a president was. Of course, living in the country makes me like any city i go to because it's different, kind of like our tourists who get excited when they see a cow

Why does it have to be a "city?" Might be fun to have one that was set in the wilderness and with only little settlements, eh? FO1 and FO2 were not really "city-based" were they?

I like the idea of "make it more about war never changes" and less about "find someone." To me the story is more important than the setting though using an interesting setting can certainly accessorize the story a lot.

That said . . . I do think that Bethesda has taken the "humanistic" element of the game world a lot farther than it ever had before, maybe more than any other game. Its just that the centerpiece story being a "find a loved one" theme seems a bit 'forced' in FO4 compared to FO3 and having been done twice now, would be good to move away from.

Seattle, 2311-2321,

Set 30-40 years after the New California Republic successfully annexed New Vegas.

Main factions involves a new faction, the result of a merger between the Followers of the Apocalypse and the Khans.

-The Sorrows, Dead Horses, and 80s tribe make an appearance.

--The NCR and Legion both make a minor appearance, with a handful outposts scattered across the map.

-The New Canaanites under the leadership of Daniel established a village in Washington State several years before the events of the game.

The player character is referred to as "The Journeyman", based on his/her backstory as a mercenary in the region.

[Game starts off with the The Journeyman traveling from across the lush, green wilderness of Washington State and falling on the dirt as a strange, powerful buzz rings through the air, followed by a minor earthquake. Camera pans up to the tree/leave filled forests and lakes in the distance, as a terrifying beam of light shoots up into the sky, temporarily darkening it. The Camera focuses on ancient ruins in the distance, revealing the disturbance happened from the Lost City of Se'at, which was previously thought to be abandoned and marked with strange religious insignias.]

-The strange disturbances have also ignited rivalries/hostilities for the factions in Washington State, which means the demand for an experienced Journeyman is higher than ever. The cutscene ends, and the player character is left to explore the world/stumble upon the main story.

Denver, 2295:

"The Legion is in turmoil after the death of the God of War, and in the western stretches of it's shrinking territory, Legate Lanius does his best to consolidate order over a rapidly deteriorating situation. In the Eastern ends of the Legion's territory, Legate Cornelius of Denver seeks to preserve the Legion's easternmost City State, and it's culture and civilization in the face of overwhelming odds. To make matters worse, an unknown faction calling themselves The Titanium Empire has been attacking our outlying settlements. The Titanian Empire, an army made out of mutants, men, deathclaws, and various other races has launched devistating attacks on the Legion's territory, yet their motivation for the siege remain unclear. All frumentarii sent East have been missing, assumed killed in action."

"You are a custos, a guard along the Via Denvia. After defending a cisium from a group of hostile Blackfoots------one of the several tribes to defect from the Legion after the disastrous campaign of 2281-----you gain the attention of the vehicle's driver, Legate Cornelius. As a servant of the Legion, you are commanded by the Legate to investigate the Titanium Army, as well as several other threats to the Legion."

The overall plot involves attempting to save the Legion from collapsing into itself, with one main plot that is revealed half way through the major story lines.

(Not really a full game or anything, but):

Visual Novel: The Core Region and the NCR, circa 2310.

-Read about how the NCR has developed in the 30 years since New Vegas.

-Read about the new forests and jungles that now inhabit much of the Core Region, as the result of OSI vegetation experiments.

-Read about the growing rivalry between the newly installed desalination plants, and the Water Merchants from the Hub.

-See the rebuilt/mighty cities of Shady Sands, Redding, Vault City, and Dayglow.

-Learn about the politics of the NCR: competing industries, caravans, water merchants, and the NCR government.

-See a rebuilt Mojave Desert, the product of 30 years of development and rebuilding in the region.

Chicago.

For those who know the first two games well, do you think Obsidian should revisit the sites from the old games? Would the NCR be interesting to see all these years later or would it be too populated and organized to make for a good game?

No no, I meant a museum for the WWII Holocaust, we never had something like that here, besides the Salem witch trials or the KKK at least.

Well, they were able to cover a huge region with a lot of major cities within it in those games. For games of their time it was easy to do that with the less detail they could capture. All they had to do was throw in a couple of buildings and streets and say "Hey, this San Francisco! Oh, here is the Gateway Arch. NOW it's San Francisco!".

I'd like Chicago as a City State under the Enclave. And by Enclave, I mean sane member of the faction like the Remnants, Whitley, or Arcade, not cannon fodder bad guys.

My headcanon is that after the good ending of Tactics, the Midwestern forces withdrew from Chicago, consolidating their power somewhere between there and Legion territory.
