Shadow Mage or Pure Mage. Almost the same thing.

Using Stealth, Illusion, and any Dark Spells (like absorb, drain, entropy - if they are in Skyrim)

A Breton Battlemage serving as a empire esponage agent skilled in swordplay, pyromancy, and speech (assuming speech isn't anything like Oblivion). A Long Sword/Pyrokine combo using cleansing fire into a fiery tempest (a bit of a pyromanic) and for those who survive being dosed in flame will meet his blade.

Drunken, half naked, Nord, Barbarian for my first playthrough. He likes to crush feeble mages frail body's with his mighty Axe.

Then a Mage.

Straight up heavy duty ninja type. Stealth and marksman as main skills with heavy armor and blade to back you up in a jam. It sounds crazy, but once you get your HA skill up high enough that you won't be slowed down by it, and get your sneak skill to where you can sneak in any boots, nobody will be able to [censored] with you. Anyone who sees you before you kill them will be faced with the challenge of fighting somebody in plate mail with a sword (or axe/mace if that's what creams your twinkie)

Think I fancy med armor and polearm, high damage n quite gud moveablity. Was thief in mw but lost interest due to stackable poisons on weapons, so daggers to overpowered! Was stealth in obl n was fun, tho combat came down to backstab = easy win, no backstab = slaughtered lol

I picked shadowmage, but I'll probably custom class, as I always do in Oblivion. I like being able to customize my character's class to suit my needs, and my desire to specialize in all forms of combat to my liking. :D

First Character:
Thief/Assassin - Something about killing people from the shadows and stealing everything is just so appealing.

Second Character:
Crusader type - Resto Warrior build to hack/slash and heal my way to victory

I said custom class. I was almost gonna pick Warrior, then decided no, because that's not exactly what I'll be. I'll be an all out Barbarian!!! Light armour, two handed battle-axe, letting out battle cries as I charge across the wilderness towards my foe! Hiyaaaaa!!!! :D

Nightblade is an assassin with duel swords i presume.

A spell sword is another name for a battle mage

PS. I add nightblade by popular request

Nightblades are assassins who use magic to augment themselves. Illusion, etc.

Spellswords are basically more mobile battlemages.

I'm going to be playing a pure Mage first time round.

ill try a pure thief, try for a playthrough using no spells at all - just rely on alchemy and khajiit racials,
more because finding and buying spells always ends up directing my game too much, forcing me to travel back and forth across the map more than i like.

it's probably early days for this question but will there be a need for balanced leveling do we know? like, will it be a handicap choosing all three agility skills as majors or have they changed that?

I'll most likely be a stealth/dagger/mage combinaton. Or I might as well just make a plain stealthy character with dual daggers and possibly a bow, or a pure mage with some stealth.
I tend to like stealthy gameplay.
Warrior will pretty likely be the last I'll make.

I pretty much play the same way on every playthru, while tweaking certain aspects here and there.

But overall, I pretty much go around sneaking, stealing, and killing whatever and whoever I see fit. I dont RP to follow the rules....but to break them. All of them.

Stealth/thief/archer, my favourite combo. I'll dual weild daggers and add some poison and traps when necessary but the bow+arrow will be always the opener, I hope for a lot of one-shot kills. Sneaky, light armor, hood, rooftops and -hopefully- a lot of guards killed from the shadows, undetected. I hope Bethesda can pull off a good AI this time, combined with a decent non level scaled loot. Or else the thief in me will have to wait for Thief 4 to get some satisfaction.

I'm going to play a Crusader-ish class. Description from Oblivion:
A combatant who wields the power of brute strength and medicinal knowledge. Cheating death after every fight, they rely on their keen knowledge of restoration to fight yet again.

Basically, sword-and-shield, heavy armor, restoration spells.

Nord warrioress :)

Did you feminize a gender-neutral word?

My first playthough in Morrowind was an Imperial Knight (result of my questionnaire). My first playthough in Oblivion was an Imperial Bard (what Baurus recommended).

I will do the same in Skyrim (i.e. letting my playstyle determine the class).
