Basically, anytime that other creatures don't stir. Dogs sleeping and mainly the world outside sleeping. What's best though, is after a day of mowing the lawn out in the heat, to come into an air-conditioned room and plop down with say, Injustice: Gods Among Us. Oh, and a cold bottle of root beer is nice too.
I live alone but I work between 50-60 hours per week and I commute about an hour and a half round-trip every day. So a perfect gaming session to me is my day off when I have no responsibilities. I also enjoy playing co-op games with friends and that is extremely difficult to plan. I think in the past 4 months we had one night when we had 5 of us on at the same time.
Actually being drawn in by a game enough to keep my attention on it for hours in a sitting. Usually I play for about an hour or so, pause, check my laptop, and just surf the net until I realize my console is still on and turn it off. Games have a hard time holding my attention lately. The only time I can stay on for a four hour session is with multiplayer, where I have the social element of my team and the competition to keep my focus dialed in. Even a game I'm really enjoying has a hard time doing that now. Nothing is just absolutely keeping me playing it, and even less looks interesting enough to buy.
I think the last good gaming experience I had was The Last of Us. I played it, replayed, got the Platinum trophy, and played it some more. I still play its multi at least three times a week. But no single player experience has done it for me since. I await another game to just grab my attention and keep me on it until I'm falling asleep in my chair. Something with the gameplay to challenge and excite me and the story to make me care about seeing the next stages.
I'm hoping that this new gen will provide me with more of that. Right now a perfect session for me being interested enough to keep playing past a half hour.
Early in the morning, around 5, 6 am when everyone sleeps and the weather is still fresh. Playing in the evening is less rewarding because I'm tired and it's too hot to appreciate.
Same as OP, late night with little disturbance.
If you have a man cave then why is the wife allowed within? It defeats the purpose of the "man" cave
Wherever you plop to play must reek of sweaty yard work
Actually good sir, your logic is impeccable.
Least it doesn't smell like beef and cheese.

ha I know as I once had a stinky chair that doubled as a dirty laundry hamper...that is until I dated a girl who changed all that
