What could this be?

Why hasn't anyone here mentioned Witchcraft?

Well, I say Witchcraft because the Mage's Guild was split into two factions, one being the College of Whispers. Necromancy may be under a whole new tree of magic.

there was a interview, Todd stated that they won't be having a speech-craft because it wouldn't work with the new way you interact with people. People won't like if you treat them badly like stealing or punching them but will like you if you help them with stuff

Could I get a link to this interview? Sounds cool.

I can only think of speechcraft, woodcraft, spellcraft, minecraft and craft for now.

Also yeah, I'm sure there is nothing official about speechcraft being out.

What can we remove?

We know its not Spellcraft or Witchcraft. All 6 magic skills are accounted for
We know its not woodcraft, or in fact any crafting related skill, because its within the Stealth category, and Alchemy already takes the crafting slot

We do know that its a Stealth skill. My bet is thats its still Speechcraft.

Like I said, I only suggested Witchcraft because the Mage's Guild was split into two factions, one being the College of Whispers. It is very well possible Necromancy is no longer categorized under Conjuration, but under a whole new tree of magic.

Its clearly not going to happen :P

There are 18 skills of which 6 relate to magic.
In the screenshot we can see:

Illusion
Conjuration
Destruction
Restoration
Alteration
Enchanting,

Thats 6, so it aint Witchcraft, or Necromancy in any form

We are only able to see the "AFT" in the screen shot. So no, it is not "clear".

Those are only the skills that have been revealed to us. I am keeping an open mind on this, we still have 8 months until the game releases.

Uh...but what about the fact that the skill ending in AFT cant possibly be one of the 6 magic skills?

Did you not read my post? It can't possibly be one of the 6 magic skills revealed to us, that doesn't mean it's not a new unannounced magic skill.

Yep, read and then gnashed my teeth :).

There are 18 skills, and only 6 magic skills. We know this. We also know what the six magic skills are. Witchcraft isnt one of them.

It cant be a new unannounced one, because all the magic skills (6 of them) have been filled. Make sense?

Witchcraft could be a Warrior skill though ;)

But that's silly. Why would Bethesda tell us there are 18 skills, only to come out with a surprise 3 or 6 more? They've said there are 18 skills, not that there are 18 skills at this time.

And when we consider those 18 skills, it makes sense that they would divide the skills evenly into combat, magic, and stealth. That's why each game since Morrowind has had a skill-count that's been a multiple of three. Otherwise, you've got imbalance.
And if there are 18 skills, 3 categories, and 6 magic skills, and we've accounted for 6 magic skills, then the -AFT skill is not a magic skill.

Never mind that menus are designed with grouping, and the -AFT skill is grouped with past- or confirmed-stealth-skills.

I can't find where now but I believe it was said that they were merging Mercantile and Speechcraft in which case it could still be called Speechcraft and mercantile will be affected by one's speechcraft. I'll try to look around and fine it.

I'm assuming this.

Other possibilities:
Jumpcraft
Speechcraft
Marskmancraft
Sneakcraft

If there now is 18 skills divided in three gruops, stealth, combat, magic. then i think the "aft" skill is stealth related because all 6 magic skills are shown. and to the left, we can se alchemy, wich is confirmed to be a stealth skill. so probably some stealthy thing :)

This is merely my hypothesis, a simple guess.

The character is a Dark Elf and already level 9, a skill at 15 could be a racial bonus since if it was something they used often it'd probably be higher.

Now I might have faulty memory, but I could have sworn Dunmer weren't the most enjoyable people to talk with, so it's likely it's not speechcraft.

Again this is just a GUESS. This may sound nonsense to any of you, but it's still possible.

I think speechcraft as a skill could still be in. The only thing Todd said was they were eliminatin the speechcraft minigame (I think).

kinda annoying that the skill screen is laid out like that, it means more scrolling to look at my skills, I liked how previously you could see most of your skills at once.

I did a random search of words ending in "craft"

-campcraft
-handcraft
-tradecraft
-spellcraft
-woodcraft
-handicraft
-speechcraft

I'm putting money on tradecraft actually. I'm sure any mercantile-type skill would be grouped into stealth.
