So yeah after hearing a few fans profess their undying love for Esbern I got to wondering what do we actually know about Esbern? I mean have we even seen a picture of the guy? All I know that he is one of the last of the Blades and takes on the role of your character's mentor and he is voiced by Max Von Sydow, thats about it, I also think I heard somewhere that he is a nord but I cant varify that.
It's most probable that he is a Nord but this hasn't been verified. As a blades member he could possibly be an Imperial or any other race but his apparent connection to Skyrim and the manner in which Max Von Sydow portrays him points to Nord. As far as the story goes I think Bethesda's told us everything they're going to before the game comes out so we likely won't get any more information on Esbern.
Other than his awesome voice, the fact that he's the last of the Blades, and he acts as a mentor to the Dovahkiin, I haven't read, seen, or heard anything new.
here is some http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2NtjtgiWbkg&feature=related..skip to 0:47
Ok so we know that he dies somewhere along the line, or at the very least he can die somewhere along the line, anyone else think that is a pretty big spoiler? But I also heard somewhere that the Blades are being hunted down for some reason, is this true? And if so does anyone know why or at least have any theories as to why?

There is no emperor and so no dragon heir to defend.

The Blades are being hunted down though arent they? (or at least I think they are, can anyone else confirm this?) Does this not seem like an extreme course of action to handle a group of people who are merely out of a job?

think it has to do with trust issues. the new ruler of the empire isn't part of the septems so he killing them off to leave no loose ends.think it was some where on a timeline for the 500 year difference or something but can't remember exactly where I read it.

he is the last one for some reason.
someone or something must really want them dead and gone
probably the current leaders of the empire right now. the blades could actualy have tried to rebel against the empire ever since it got under new management.

Perhaps those left in charge of the Empire are paranoid that the Blades are looking for someone to take their place? Somebody who can unite the Empire once more? Somebody born with the soul of a Dragon?

At the end of Oblivion the blades say they are going to wait for the next dragonborn. Perhaps the rulers don't want the next Dragonborn to become emperor so they are killing them off to prevent that happening....
