What determines your High School sports division? I thought it was the size of your school because my school has 300 and we're 1A, and the other school in my county has 2400 and it's 2A. So what determines your schools sports division?

Population size is typically what decides division. Many states have large ranges of students per school, so the number vary per state.

It's possible facilities are also a factor.

I know in college sports facilities and athletic scholarships are both considerations that affect division. Athletic scholarships aren't really a high school issue but facilities do make sense.

Ahh that might be it, because one of my friends just told me that they're 2A but only have 600 people in their school, it kinda struck me as odd.

Town population is a major factor.
