What did we do that warrants our Execution?

Post » Wed Mar 09, 2011 7:31 am

I'm quite sure there won't be any factions teaming up with Alduin. The civil war is just the final sign of Alduins return, it isn't about him or his little project. I'm quite certain the game will play along the lines of 1) civil war breaks out, 2) dragons start to cause havoc 3) warring factions decide to postpone fighting to deal with new dragon threat 4) hero defeats dragon, previous warring factions agree on some sort of compromise 5) everyone gathers at the mead hall to get drunk

I agree they probably wont be teaming up with Alduin. I'm just explaining why not.

He posted a blatant spoiler without any warning in the topic title. :P

In that case, wouldn't the other threads with topics such as

"Starting as a prisoner again?"

"So, you are the dragonborn"

"The Dark Brotherhood are back"

etc., also be guilty of being spoilerrific?

Since it is US witnessing our own execution, maybe Alduin is sending us brainwaves into our dreams, basically telling us to gtfo and back off or you die! :mohawk: (Kinda like Morrowind)

Let's see. Punishable by death?

Cutting a pair of gloves in half.
Running backwards during combat.
Sharpening the end of a stick for use as a weapon.
Trying to argue for non-violent solutions to problems.
Modifying a helmet and wearing it on your left shoulder.
Attempting to protect your profession by staging a revolution against the class free society.

heh.

My money is on staged death for protection or a very NV 'I was dead then I got better'. The latter involving a rescue by a steam centurion :D

Not so sure about that. Technically you had to team up with him in Oblivion to defeat Mehrunes Dagon, since Alduin and Akatosh are one and the same God.

You don't have to look much further than most Christians who believe and approve of "the rapture" to know that it's not unlikely that some people might be sheering from the sidelines when their deity comes to destroy their world.

Yeah, at that time it was either that or destruction at the hands of Dagon. And there was no deliberate "teaming up" with him, it was a split-second decision by Martin. The original "teaming up" consisted of the pact between the emperors and Akatosh, and I'm quite sure world-eating wasn't part of the bargain.

And the civil war in Skyrim is said to precede Alduins return - it isn't caused by it. Why would anyone care if Skyrim seceded from the empire if Alduin is going to eat the world right after? It doesn't make any sense.

It's possible that they tried to kill your character, and left him/her for dead i.e New Vegas.

That's up to you.
You're just being executed, the end.

Been like that in every game.

I slapped a magistrate with a fish. But not just any fish. http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=5135 owned by my distant ancestor, who was the Champion of Cyrodiil (after he escaped from prison, that is...)

we murdered the king, of course

I like the ambiguity of that. I like that a lot.
It'd be perfect, because it leaves a lot of questions open that could be answered by roleplayers: did you really kill the king? Were you framed? Did you have accomplices? If you did kill the king, was it for good reason? Did you not kill the king at all, but failed to protect him from his assassin?

Great opportunity. I hope that's the developer's reasons.

I was mostly joking, hence the ":P" But, not imo. Those are generally known things that don't spoil anything we'll actually see in the game in terms of narrative. Saying "we're the dragonborn" doesn't tell us how we find out we're the dragonborn or how the main quest starts. Knowing the Dark Brotherhood are in the game doesn't tell us anything about them or how we meet them, etc. Saying we start as a prisoner doesn't tell us anything, since that's pretty much expected at this point. But saying the game starts with us witnessing our own execution is a pretty big spoiler... again, just imo.

It's subjective though, and I was just making a joke lol.

Was mistaken for someone else the details of whose crimes are unknown to me.

Of course in Skyrim it could be just a matter of being thought to be on the wrong side of the civil war.

They believe you are the reincarnation of the adoring fan…….

Then you find that you’re not the reincarnation, just a descendant…..

Yes, your worse fears are true; the adoring fan was a Blade agent…..

Wood Elf Shaman: For the practising of fairly dark rituals and the butchering and the consuming of her former husbands... Black Widow!
Nord Interrogation-Specialist: He often takes his duties too far. He's pretty [censored] up in the head, too controlling and so even poses trouble for his own people.
Breton Scholar: Carelessness in her experiments. The things around her often tend to ... randomly explode! So, this time around she'd set the king ablaze ... a fine airhead she is!

Maybe the last blade or one of them, I think his names Esbern or something. Maybe he fakes your execution in order to make Alduin or the bad guys think that the dragonborn has been killed in order to protect you so the pc can learn the secrets of the dragonborn or whatever he needs to learn

My question is, if we see our own execution how are we playing the character? It has to be a premintion of some sort. Whatever the case, I'm not very excited about this. I much prefer to just be a prisoner again.
