What did you do in Daggerfall today?

redmer, your stuff is entertaining, but could you try including capital letters? It'd make it easier to read.

Ok, so I finally finished the tutorial dungeon and decided to go on over to the Queen Skull's Tavern. (Which is actually a town)

Anyway, I decided to pass the time I would talk with some NPCs...Wow...I mean in OB I rarely talk to them because their responses are so generic but...I think Daggerfall actually has more in-depth conversations than Morrowind. :o Who knew that chatting it up with a few friendly NPCs could be so fun? I must've spent 20 minutes doing nothing but talking to NPCs...Immersion at its best. :)

I was just doing my regular thing, getting re-accustomed to the whole adventuring thing (Level 3) and running a quest to defeat some mad wizard at Theodyrick Laboratory. This, in itself was amazingly uninteresting and the wizard went down like a wuss. What was interesting however was the task of surviving a room of two liches and 5 mages through all the fun that is zigzagging around the first one and having it blast itself to pieces while I was left nearly dead to deal with everything else. Which went amazingly well considering he didn't blast me and I mostly just sat there, moving around a bit and pelting him with crappy fireballs from some trinket I found. Theeen I just smashed the mages and stuff with a mace.

It was a lot more interesting than it sounds, honest.

Ribissi awoke this morning a headache worse than the time she had to care for a litter of kitten for a week. The skooma had not been kind. She stumbled out of the Fighter's Guild hall where she stayed the night and blinked her eyes at the harsh sunlight. Needing something to help clear her head she slowly weaved her way through the crowds on the streets until she ended up at the Knights of the Dragon hall. Maybe doing some good works would help her focus. Despite not having entered one of their buildings in more than 4 months, the local quest giver somehow immediately remembered that she was due for the promotion to Knight Brother.

Ribissi's head was was too foggy to argue that she should be a Knight "Sister", so she just grunted and went to collect her free armor piece. New elven gloves. Hard to argue with that.

Heading back to the quest giver she was hoping she might be given a good dungeon to crawl through. Collecting loot to sell for skooma money always put her in a good mood. The little man had different plans however.

Apparently, some noble had gotten a Daedroth in his house. He was located in the town of Reyton.

And his house happened to be the palace.

Deciding it would do, Ribissi headed for Reyton, only to find that not only was the Daedroth in the palace, but the town itself had a massive stone wall. The guards here must be positively worthless to let a crocodile demon that's stupider than even a filthy Argonian into the town, and then into the palace, when it could only possibly enter in broad daylight.

Humans never ceased to amaze Ribissi with their ineptitude.

Entering the palace, Ribissi took little time to find the, very loud, Daedroth. It didn't seem to know how it got there either, but there was something about it that everyone nearby knew.

It was pissed.

As soon as the door to the room it was in opened it lunged at Ribissi. Luckily, nothing is faster than Khajiit, so the stupid crocodile beasty missed by a large margin. Ribissi responded to its awkward dive with a powerful blow to its side with her mithril longsword. Now injured as well as confused and lost, the Daedroth turned and tried to bite off Ribissi's head. The ever so slight remaining effects of the skooma withdrawal slowed Ribissi's reflexes down where the demon bit off the whiskers on the left side of her face.

Now unable to keep her balance with that traumatizing loss, Ribissi fell flat on her ass. The Daedroth seized this opportunity to try another bite. As it descended on her, she made a last ditch effort and thrust wildly.

Her blade went straight into the Daedroth's mouth, and directly to the brain, killing it instantly.

Crawling out from under the dead weight of the massive creature, Ribissi stumbled out of the palace, just wanting to head home.

On the trip back to Longtry Field, she fell off her horse twelve time.

Ribissi passed on the skooma that night.

Edit: Any criticism anyone wants to give on my writing would be appreciated. This is the only thing I've written outside of crappy school papers. :P

"So, this is where I'm stuck," Tasena inquired, looking at the rocks around her, and back at the hole that prevented her from leaving the cave she was now trapped in. She had a few things with her, such as her ebony dagger from the emperor, the trusty iron broadsword that ever graced her side, and her always useful spellbook. She leafed through the pages, and saw that many of the spells were too illegible to read anymore. Sighing, she stood up, and noticed that her spells for Shock, Chameleon, and Slowfall were still still readable, but not as good as the spells she had once used.

Tasena looked forward, and gripped her longsword in one hand and the dagger in the other, and she journeyed forth. The first victim was a rat, with nothing but bad intentions. Next, a bat fell to her blade. Third, she ran into an imp, and her longsword seemed to deflect off it. She of course still had the use of the dagger, but stumbled a bit until she laid a death blow. The rest of the dungeon went mostly boring, until she picked up a magical amulet of some sort. "I'll wait..." She told herself, looking for the exit to the maze.

Leaving, she looked into the sky trying to make her bearings. Secunda was high in the sky, and Jone was just a sliver of it's usual beauty. Tasena made her way south, until she found her way to small town named "Gothway Garden". The sky was still dark, and she managed to find a tavern. Inside, the other patrons looked at her surprised by her tattered clothing and blood matted hair, but the bartender saw a customer.

"4 gold for a bed, 5 if you want to use the bath. 6 without interruption," the bartender explained, eyeing the money pouch. Fishing out 20 coins, she gave it to the bartender.

"Breakfast too..." she muttered, then made her way to the shower escorted by a tavern wench.

---

Waking up in a room where two other women were using the other 2 beds, she reached into her pack and found a dress. A note pinned to it read "I thought this would be a little more comfortable. Edwyn". Tasena reluctantly put it on, then headed into the common room where the bartender looked at her, nodded, and headed into the kitchen shortly bringing out her meal. Tasena looked at the bartender. "Any rumours?"

[Note: Do not read the spoilered text unless you want to spoil some of the game for yourself. It'll make the game too easy for beginners.]
The bartender cleared his throat. "Well, some adventurers have given me some information.

Spoiler
"They say that the Rusty Ogre Lodge, not too far of a travel from here, about a halfday on horseback is full of wonderous things. The tavern, in particular. It's said that each one of the travellers in their party managed to find some rare daedric equipment in that tavern, they just needed to avoid the guards to get out. Seems that the army wants it too."

Tasena smiled, and finished her breakfast. "Thank you. Where's Edwyn? I want to thank her for this dress."

The bartender shrugged. "I'll tell her"

Tasena shook her head. "I'll be back in a little while. I have some business to attend to. I'm not bothering paying in advance, however." She stood up from her seat, then headed out into the cold, winter day where the citizens were starting to do their errands for the day.

Tasena wandered the streets, then found a cluster of 3 general stores. The smallest one caught her eye, and she walked inside. A shopkeeper was warming his hands by the fire, sighing while he was warming his hands. He looked at the now open door, containing an unfamiliar face. "I told you people, I won't sell this place, even if you send someone to offer me a lot of money." Tasena shook her head.

"I'm here on business. I have some things to sell."
---
Leaving the general store a little richer, and with horse and wagon, the wagon magically enchanted to move at the speed of the horse unless the wagon itself was ridden, Tasena headed out in the general direction of where the bartender said. She rode for a while, then she saw a small village in the distance.

Spoiler
'Welcome to The Rusty Ogre Lodge!' a nearby sign proclaimed.
The streets were rather busy for a town of this size, many of the villagers seeing the newcomer and speaking in hushed tones. Tasena headed into the tavern, where the owner saw her. "Not again!" Tasena headed upstairs, to the main rooms of the tavern.
Spoiler
She searched the drawers of the footlockers, and found untold treasures of daedric weapons. Jackpot.

Leaving the tavern, a few guards saw her, then drew their blades. "Halt! Halt! Halt!" they said, approaching her. She took out her own blade, gleaming in the sunlight. "Stop, criminal! Surrender your stolen goods and serve your sentence!" the main guard said. "Outside, now."

Tasena dumped her loot into her wagon outside, then looked at the guards surrounding her. "No." she said, and the guards attacked. Somehow, their strikes did absolutely no damage to Tasena, but that didn't stop the guards. Around 20 were around her, and they were cut down quickly. Suddenly, the pain came to her, and she led her horse in the direction of Gothway Garden, and slept in the wagon's seat, letting the horse go on autopilot.
---
Night came, and Tasena was awake, guiding the horse along the way. She looked around, and thought she was being followed, but looking around with her keen Altmerian eyes. Nothing seemed to be out of the ordinary. The night was silent, only with the clip clopping of the horse and the rolling of the wheels. Soon the familiar sight of Gothway Garden came into view, and Tasena headed towards the same tavern she stayed at before. She walked in, and headed to a bed while the bartender looked at her. He didn't interrupt as she headed to her old room, and collapsed on the unoccupied bed.

She woke a couple of hours later, and headed to the common room with her gold pouch open. She put some money on the table, and the bartender said, "Note for you, Altmer." Tasena opened it, and read. Tasena. The Dark Brotherhood has been watching you. You have slain without sanction several times.

Taking a break from thieves' guild jobs, I wandered around the province of Daggerfall. Whilst nursing an ale in a tavern in a small town, I overheard a man talking about a lycanthrope he had trouble with. Noticing my blade, he asked me if I was a warrior. I told him I had some combat experience, and he told me his tale. Basically, there was an elusive wereboar in an old tower which he needed to be killed. I accepted his task, and left for the tower immediately.

When I arrived at the tower, it was obviously a former glory of it's past self. Rubble lay in a large radius, and a door caught my eye as I entered the ruins. Assuming it was the entrance, I proceeded into opening it. Huddled around just inside was a small group of young men, armed with silver shortswords and what looked like leather and chain armour, these were the group of lycanthrope hunters that the man at the inn had told me about. They said they'd go and slay the wereboar in 7 or so days, unless I did the deed.

Continuing stealthily, I came across a creature I had never seen before, a walking lump of flesh, with pieces missing and added, all sewn together with leather thread. It turned rather swiftly and landed a sound hit on my body, sending me reeling into the wall. I slashed at the foul beast with my dagger, managing to sever the thread, causing the creature to fall apart. I fought many more of these beasts, as well as numerous spellcasters, probably the people who created those things. I couldn't carry as much treasure as I had hoped, for my coin pouch was already quite heavy, so I took the most valuable things I could find, namely dwarven weaponry and a couple of books.

I finally found the wereboar, after killing many wizards and armoured sorcerors and their creations, and it was a lot easier to kill than I had been led to believe. A few solid slashes on it's skull sent it crashing to the ground, the blood spraying freely from between it's eyes. Satisfied with my results, I found my way back through the labyrinth to the exit, where I was congratulated by a couple of the hunters, but the others gave me evil looks, as they had wanted the bounty attached to the beast.

Returning to the tavern, I received the bounty, and bought a meal, happy to have a safe haven. I read one of the books I had found, it was about some hero who tricked a Wyrm and got him to destroy the Akavir slavers, it was an interesting read, but the other book was about Mysticism. Eugh, magic. I've never been able to cast it so I'm not bothered with it. After I had finished my meal and book I traveled back to Crosstry, where I had a magic bracer identified for a pouch of coins, turns out it's enchanted with a water walk spell, which could be helpful. Then, I went to pawn my treasures. My coin pouch was getting extremely heavy, so I decided to head to the bank.

So, I, Oceryl, managed to escape the maze-like depths of Privateer's Hold. Snow. Snow, and lots of it. Darkness too. And I ran, and I ran. I've never liked snow. At least not being outside in the cold, I much prefer the warmth of a newly lit fire in the library back home. Home, I miss it, I miss it so much, I miss my family and my books. After spending the night out in the snowy wilderness I reached a town. Gothway Garden. Apparently. Trying to find anything, but those maze-like houses and the unhelpful villagers aren't really helping. I want to go home. Don't want to do this anymore. The Emperor's business is none of mine.

I killed some guy using snake venom for the dark brotherhood. Then I was accepted in. And then soon after that I received a some letter from Lady Something.
So I met her at a tavern and spoke to her.
Oh and then I went into another tavern, and talked to the owner and for whatever reason he challenged me to a 'duel' in six hours. So I waited for six hours and he was no were to be found. Instead a message came up saying 'Mr.Something has lots of friends. Don't mess with him''... and then a battlemage came up to me. So I whooped his ass.
And then I decided that was enough crazy events for the day...

DO NOT READ MY POST IF YOU DONT WANT SPOILERS

Adriana took a boat to wayrest as fast as possible. Once in wayrest she headed for the castle egar to find out what the noble knew about the emporers letter. As she approached the castle she saw it rise above her as she appoached it was huge from the outside and far suppassed daggerfalls castle even thought the town was smaller. Walking throught the front door Adriana walked down the coridor to the throne room. Entering the throne room she looked around to see the nobles. Now which noble was the one that sent her the letter? afther talking to a few of them she finally found the correct noble. Of course she wasn't willing to give the information out for free...

Giveing me a letter to to give to one named the king of worms she promised to give me the information on my return. Heading to scourg burrow (think thats the place) Adriana had two days to do nothing really so she opened the letter curious as to what the contents where. Appearently the noble wanted to get the king of firsthold to marry her, but she needed the necromancer's help by allowing the king to talk to his dead son, but everything comes at a price. Appearently the king of worms was supose to recieve their first born. As sickened as adriana was she knew she could do nothing, she needed that information and this was the only way of getting it no matter how much she hated it. Besides if she didn't do it someone else would take the princess up on her offer to deliver the letter.

Arriveing at scourg burrow just four days afther leaveing Adriana went in. It was was a tome as to be expected with necromancers. Surpriseingly it didn't take Adriana long to find the throne room with the king of worms in it. As Adriana entered the throne room she looked around and saw a vampire ancient, two ancient liches and one menensing figure towering above her dressed in red robes with two eyes pearing out from beneath them the glowed red. Slowly approaching the king of worms, for that had to be him, Adriana quickly gave him the letter and was given another letter to give back to the princess. Quickly going back the way she came Adriana exited this foul place. Never had Adriana felt so underpowered.

Afther a few days journey back to wayrest Adriana went to the castle and gave the noble the letter, which read done. Afther this the noble gave her some information appearently gortwog or whater the orc had the letter and to get more information about it first I should get in good with mynisera of daggerfall for she would have more information. Afther leaveing the castle Adriana was approached by a courier. The courier had a letter from the queen of daggerfall. Appearently she needed her help with some matter. Sinse thats where she was heading anyways to daggerfall Adriana went.

Arriveing in Daggerfall several days later she went to the castle to see what the queen wanted. Appearently Mynisera had some papers she was hideing at a castle nearby and the queen wanted those papers and during this time Mynisera wouldn't be in daggerfall. Accepting the quest sinse for now she couldn't talk to Mynisera until she returned Adriana set out for the castle the papers where supose to be in. Again another long day spent in a duengeon Adriana finally found the papers guarded by none other then some menceing creatures. What where they this time? Werewolves and vampires. About another day afther finding the papers Adriana finally found her way out the castle. who designed these things she thought to her self. Couldn't have any practical means unless it was to make the inhabitants lost in their own place.

Arriveing back at daggerfall once again Adriana took several steps in before passing out on the ground. She had forgotten to rest before and was rushing to get the matter done with. She woke an hour later and found it to already be dark. Now running from the VENGENCE again she finally found an inn and spent the rest of the night in a cozy bed. Afther wakeing up Adriana made her way to the castle and gave the paperwork to the queen. Once this was done she desided to take a few days vacation she needed the rest.

Afther leaveing daggerfall castle Adriana began to ponder her recent adventures and how easily she had triumpted it seems not long afther she arrived here that her streanth had tripled, her speed too along with her endurance she wondered why it only happend sinse arriveing back from wayrest. Ending her pondering she fell asleep early in the day. In the middle of the night she woke. Claws where protrudeing from her hand fur covered her body. Then a howl broke through the night. A werewolf was born.Hunting through the night she killed a guard and jumped the walls of the city. Afther wakeing up the next day in the forest Adriana knew something was wrong. With flashbacks of the nightmare she had she knew what had happend she had become a werewolf...but where had she encountered one before? Then it occured to her the last time she encountered one would have been before she left for wayrest. She had missed it. How could she have been so careless. Curseing herself she dressed herself and walked back to the city. She was cursed and there was no way that she knew of to get rid of it. Her dreams of entering the guard of the imperial city where ruined. But curse or no curse she had a misson to fullfill for the emperor and she was determined to fullfill it.....

I left Privateer Hold, with an Elven saber, and immediately headed to a nearby town, and joined up with the local Fighters Guild. My first quest was to kill a Werewolf, so off I went.

Luckily the werewolf wasn't too much trouble to find (was behind a door off to the side of the main entrance). Disposed of him quickly, but it turns out that the one hit he landed was the one to infect me with lycanthropy. Unfortunately, still being new to Daggerfall, I didn't pick up on this until I fast traveled back to the Fighters Guild, and transformed into a Werewolf. I promptly reloaded, and got a much better "Kill the rats" quest. :P

Thanks for the capitals, Redmer. :)

As for me:

Oh god, I just accepted the Painting quest. That means I have to explore Castle Wayrest. I *hate* exploring Castle Wayrest! I've never actually managed to find the painting without resorting to either the bracket cheat or the UESP guide. Yet, I seem to be a glutton for punishment, so I attempt it anyway.

I suppose its worth the cash and the skill gain.

Something similar happened to me yesterday. I'd spent over a month fast-travelling, and eventually became aware of my condition when my hitpoints dropped into the single digits.

I didn't have the option of reloading a savegame (without a lot of quest-backtracking), so I "borrowed" the cure from a local coven. They're probably not pleased with me right now.

Now this is interesting.

I decided that, rather than my usual method of exploring endlessly until giving up and cheating my way to victory (Wayrest painting quest), I'd voidwalk it. I figure I'll recognize the chamber when I see it, so I can just fly around (using my long shirt of venom spitting) until I find it. It isn't working... but I DID discover a completely unconnected bit of dungeon. It's nothing more than a gray stone room, connected to a short hallway, which has another doorway that leads DIRECTLY into the void! As in there's no door, there's no teleporter, there's no pointless "This house has nothing of value" door or unconnected brick wall. It's just an open doorway, leading into the blackness!

UPDATE: I found it! I managed to voidwalk my way there! Sweet!

Lets see:

I stole some daedric weapons from an inn and went to another town to sell them. So at level 2 I have 64,000ish gold. :o
I did a quest to kill some were creature for the fighters guild and everything was going fine until I encountered an Ancient Lich. -_-
Now I think i'll just not do the quest because I have no way of going through the dungeon without killing the lich.

Did the mages guild quest to kill a mage. I went there, and boy was the dungeon mind[censored]ing. Elevating stabs, several towers with doors, orcs and spiders, secret rooms...! Awesome! I finally found the mage and killed him with one slice of my ebony dagger.

I had loads of equipment, so I traveled to Orsinium and sold everything, making 12K in the process.

I went back to Daggerfall City and bought a Dwarven Claymoore.

I also cleared out some dungeons and labyrinths for the Fighter's Guild.

All in all - great day today.

Galerion was going to do a fighter's guild quest, but the evil dosbox glitch killed her everytime she attempted it so she decided to do a quest to find out how her ship was capsized in the beginning. To prepare herself she sold the loot she collected and bought an adamintium warhammer. After that she set off to The Den of Mordistyr a daeda infested dungeon ,supposedly, to look for a magical scroll. It started of easy, but the spiders were a nuisance with their paralyzing venom. So she spent many hours in the dungeon resting. Eventually she found a closet and out came a daedroth, she slew it with ease and found the scroll right behind it. She looted the dungeon a little and headed back to daggerfall.

I wouldn't say silver armor is any more rare than silver weapons. The difficult is finding a full set of either. I'll be you haven't had a complete set of silver weapons any more frequently than you've had a full set of silver armor.
