Tirdas, 26th of First Seed
Order of the Hour, Wayrest
I just got promoted to Initiate of the Akatosh Chantry! It seems they were pleased by my performance on this last mission.
On the tenth of First Seed, I was sent by Morgyrrya Gaerwing to find Dunyrick Buckingston, who'd disappeared on an archaeological dig in Woodwing's Hold, an underground structure approximately three days travel from Wayrest. When I got there, I decided that his disappearance was no surprise. Indeed, I would be more surprised to find him alive. The place was inhabited primarily by orcs, with a few human renegades taking up residence with them.
The journey was made more difficult by a case of Witches Pox I'd contracted at some point; I'm not sure when. My will and personality were sapped, but I figured it wasn't a problem; I know the basics for curing diseases. I actually spent several days camping out down there, attempting to cure myself. It takes nearly all my power to cast a simple curing spell, and to no avail. At first I figured my skills simply were not up to the task, so I finally decided to continue on, diseased as I was.
Actually, it was simply a really tough case. I discovered a curing potion somewhere in the dungeon, and quaffed it immediately, but even the potion couldn't cure me! Fortunately, I found Mr. Buckingston, who was so wrapped up in his work he didn't even notice me coming... or the passage of time for that matter. When a priest of Akatosh, the Time Dragon, manages to lose track of time, you KNOW he's absent minded.
He accompanied me back to Wayrest. I stopped at Singing Prophet of Akatosh to get cured of Witches Pox on the way. Heh, speaking of absent mindedness, I have to curse myself for constantly forgetting to set a recall point. Were I to cast it now, I'd end up all the way over in Gothway Garden... hardly the ideal situation.
At any rate, it's time to head over to the palace. It's time to pick up on the Emperor's mission. No doubt she'll want a favor in exchange for her information. Hopefully it won't be *too* nasty.
Turdas, 5th of Rain's Hand
The Red Wolf, Wayrest
Princess Morgiah's mission for me was about as nasty as it gets. She sent me off to Scourg Barrow in the Wrothgarian Mountains, the throne of the King of Worms--some nasty dealings to be sure, if the rumors about that guy are correct. And the dealings she has with him are nasty in themselves. I had a peek at the note she sent me with (it wasn't sealed), and from what I gather she's selling off her firstborn in exchange for the throne of Firsthold. This isn't the sort of thing I would choose to involve myself with, but I need that information. So I went... but THIS time I remembered to set a recall point in front of the palace.
It certainly came in handy. Scourg Barrow was about as deadly a place as I've ever seen. Entry was achieved by jumping into a secret passage concealed by a sarcophogus, and the first room I came to had zombies... truly deadly creatures for one of my skill. I just ran from them. Fortunately, they were easy to evade, and the rest of the area I explored contained bats, and a skeleton. Oh, the throne room of the Necromancers contained some deadly creatures to be sure: an ancient lich and a vampire ancient. But being retainers of the King of Worms himself, they held off until his curiosity about me was satisfied.
He agreed to her terms, and I got the hell out of there. Then she gave me the information I needed. It seems the Emperor's Letter reached Queen Abu-ki, but was stolen by the Thieves Guild, who then sold it to Gortwog, leader of the Orcs of Orsinium. She recommended I speak with Mynisera, Dowager Queen of Daggerfall (King Gothyrd's mother, and the late King Lysandus' wife... probably the intended recipient of the letter). This I will do, once I get back to Daggerfall.
But first, I'll be heading over to the Mages' Guild for more work, now.
