So what DID you like about the E3 Demo?

Post » Mon Jun 13, 2011 5:26 am

So I have been looking at this forum, and I only seem to be finding pessimistic Threads. I Tought, even tough I am very pessimistic and my friends call me emo <_< I'm very optimistic about this game and I think it will be great, I'm just fearing that Todd might be lying about the ''Great AI'' No complaints on this thread please and keep it clean. Thanks.

I liked the magic a lot.
I also liked the music very very much, especially the tundra soundtrack
The interface (not the HUD) looked nice and clean as well. I liked the skills menu the most.
Animations... were pretty decent (in general).
I very much liked the dungeon design... with all the waterfalls and such.
Dragon battles looked, sounded and felt awesome.

Finally, I thought the "atmosphere" of the world was great... a lot thanks to the music I think :)

There have been plenty of positive threads like this before. The problem is, you can only say "this looks great" so many times... and people usually agree with each other so there's little room for discussion or debate. That's why there seems to be an overwhelming amount of negativity on these forums.

But anyway... I was most impressed by the following:

  • Graphics overall
  • The design of the dungeons we saw
  • The music
  • The inventory menu
  • Horses
  • Some of the items we caught a glimpse of
  • Water
  • Weather effects up in the mountains

Dragon animations this gives modders great potential to create other flying monstrocitys.

the tundra place was good too with huge giants and mammoths glad to see they've added biggers mobs.

Horses... although poorly animated and showing them going up a tiny mountain while not sticking to the floor properly im glad there in it.

All in all im really excited for skyrim only thing im really sceptical about is the "New" engine it doesnt look new at all, and whenever they talk about it they always bring in this whole dynamic story engine when people really want to know how the actual engine will effect gameplay and how STABLE the bleedy thing is.

Lets face there games in the past fallout and elderscrolls havent been too stable and you have to autosave every 5 miniutes, and the combat doesnt look too different from oblivion which the developers knew was that games biggest flaw.

-If they implement the lighting effects like we see in the clip where the hunter is walking through the woodland i'll be really happy. (Although that's not E3)
-Dragons! They look absolutely brilliant! At times a little clunky but if they really are unscripted that's not an issue.
-Ranged combat: no longer do I have to turn my enemies into walking pin cushions before they die. Another step towards appropriate realism.
-Magic. One of the things that bethesda almost completely overhauled. I'm a little wary as to how similar to bioshock it is, but other than that it seems to be something to encourage many warrior RPers to become mages.
-Hopefully the general AI won't draw as much attention to itself as much as it did in oblivion =P.
-The touch of working economies. We've been told that they aren't in depth, but i feel they will add another dimension to the game however shallow.
However, i'll save my congratulations and pat on the back for a few weeks after release, when I can fully evaluate the game.

Look of the dungeons, graphics overall ( I do understand why some are disappointed, but my gaming days go back to before the ZX Spectrum ), fog particularly, and while not fussed about most shouts myself playing mages, getting Stormcall will be a priority.

There are too many things to describe. Everything from the large things like the dragons and overall combat, to the small and subtle things like the eerie music in the dungeons and the extremely detailed items.
