What did you do today in Morrowind? #10

Post » Wed Sep 16, 2009 5:55 pm

I'm an all-armor kind of guy, so whatever has the highest rating, I choose, and at the moment its the Masque. It looks kind of goofy on me, but oh well.

I'm not much of a book collector- they're too heavy for me to enjoy carrying them around and too hard to stack nicely in my room, so I usually just leave them. While we're on the topic of books, I came across one of my favorites yesterday, http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Morrowind:Unnamed_Book, and although its painfully predictable (you read one stealth-based story, you read them all, at least by this dev/author), I still enjoy it. Needless to say, I took it home and threw it up on my bookshelf.

And to oblivion with Esperanto. :swear:

I've recently started a new character and I keep avoiding going out because I'm so used to avoiding the sunlight as I'm usually a vampire it's just sort of programmed in but other than that I did have a little scrap with Sorkvild the Raven and the lackeys in his building which I'm afraid to say I did have some trouble with.

Finished the MQ today for about the 5th time in my life. It was fun, but I really only did it to get on with my character. I feel the need to finish the MQ before I play the expansions, so it had to be done. I'm going to start Bloodmoon tonight or tomorrow, but in the meantime I'm going to do some cave-mods. Should be fun.

I really thought I managed to leave Morrowind behind me, but inspired by the still cold :stare: winterdays in my country, I decided to go and roam a bit in Bloodmoon. Yes, with a saved char who is well equiped to deal with all those nasty creatures in that beautiful landscape. My first struggle however, wil be: Will I start with a new char, or keep all those Famed Artifacts? :flamethrower:
Or "just" the Stalhrim Longsword of Flame? Going for the Hunter's Spear. I'll keep you posted.

Unfortunately I haven't actually played in a while, but I did get hit by quite a few boulders, and tested a decent amount of dialogue...

I maxed Block and Heavy Armor. I started summoning Golden Saints to max Short Blade and Marksman. My Daedric Tanto has soultrap for 2 seconds on strike, so I stockpiled about 300 Grand Soul Gems for this.

finished the natural, ganor was tuff, but i spanked him. With an agility of 140, blade of 100, strength of 120, i hit almost every time, and i hit hard. I ruined my sword, his shield and most of his armor was busted, so after reparing it all i made a good bit of gold. Thank the nine i had a few quality potions of restore health, and a but load of health lol

I started yet another new character today. As of now, Im just wandering around waiting for the shrine of Boethiah to get completed that way I can begin using Goldbrand for long blade. In the meantime, Ive been doing some quests and exploring House Redoran( first time Ive been this far into the House Redoran quests), the Fighters Guild and Morag Tong. Joining all the factions IS a habit of mine, but this playthrough, Im going to try to refrain from that and just join some of them

I just finished the Bloodmoon MQ, and, damn, Werewolves are BAD, both as opponents, and as a PC. Seriously, being surrounded by 5 werewolves is WAY easier than being surrounded by 5 Riekling Raiders, and even the raiders I can take down by myself, but when I'm a werewolf, I can't even kill two raiders at a time. I'm playing with the slider at 75, but still, I thought werewolves would be cooler than they are. I remember that way from when I played in the past, but my slider was at 0 then.

Hmm. The funny part about that to me, is I havent finished all of Bloodmoon yet. I usually get somewhere along in its MQ and almost done with one of the EECs paths, but getting all the way done with either of them? Nope. Not once. Im going to have to make an effort to do that

OT: Today Ive been doing almost nothing but faction quests. And its been getting a bit complicated cause if I do one faction for too long, I forget about what I was supposed to do for the other ones. And I also found the Fists of Randugulf for the first time. And along with that, I also found the Daedric Crescent blade for the first time. Here I was thinking it was just in the lore book as filler. Im a noob lol. But as for stuff to do now, I think I might finish a faction or two before the day ends

I love these. They don't look so good when I have a matching set of other armor, but damn, aren't they worth it. Today I started the EEC quests, got bored, and went to do some temple quests. Pretty slow day. I always think that it feels weird to do Temple quests after the MQ is done.

Started playing Westly's "asian" race. Not happy with her chosen face, may need to restart.

Basing her off of Shizuma from Strawberry Panic. Except for a schoolgirl, she'll be an assassin. Stealth is about all I do.

Wandered around Mournhold a lot today. Went to visit Almalexia, see how she's going. Then went to visit Sotha Sil, but he was busy on his experiments (I'll try talking to him again tomorrow). I went for a walk from Vivec to Ebonheart. I then went for a run through the Bitter Coast. Finally, I went to Solstheim and joined the East Empire Company. I took some dudes to Raven Rock, then went on to the Neverhalls (mod). Got lost in these GIANT Falmer Ruins and gave up because a stupid gate wouldn't open. Collected some Ebony for the East Empire Company.

Today I've followed the stupid of my pupil (Julan) towards a travel up to the Red Mountain. He thought he was all almighty only after receiving a few trainings of Light Armor. Naturally, nothing good came from that trip....

Ah, and ate a Succulent Guar Rib for dinner. It was goddit tasty.

I started a new character today a Dunmer by the name of Devalus who is a warrior, he is rather good in combat with his natural Redguard-like stats, I get the feeling perhaps he was raised by them before being put in prison in the imperial city.
Anyway, after leaving census and excise, he met an odd little wood elf by the name of Fargoth.

He heard rumors of a Taxman gone missing and decided that perhaps he will receive a reward for finding and rescuing said tax collector but ... oh dear.

I killed all the bandits in Saturan for Serjo Avon Oran and Percius Mercius and I also freed the slaves there.
After reporting my success to Oran, I noticed that some Ordinators are patrolling in Suran (thanks to the Morrowind Comes Alive mod).
I took a picture while they were near a random Dreamer and http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Morrowind:Elvil_Vidron a.k.a. the False Incarnate:

Today, I went to Solstheim and trekked all of the way to Skaal Village. I spent most of my time on Solstheim, looking around and killing stuff. I also went to Mournhold to visit the Lady Almalexia.

Today I finally killed Gaenor for the first time. It was a tough fight, but I felt really satisfied when he was dead and I saw his lifeless body floating in the water surrounding the Temple :P

Speaking of waterfights, my Temple faithful Elvar Saryoni has just gotten out of Abanabi, a cave he noticed on his water walk from Sadrith Mora to Tel Fyr. His confrontation against one Draramu Hloran there was very epic. He levitated away from her Greater Bonewalker's reach and, both being horrible in ranged attacks, managed to hack Draramu into the water with an Ebony Spear. He then finished her off using several Greater Shockballs.

That fight was epic! We basically hacked each other nearly to the death since one of us fell into the water. Then it was game over for Draramu. And now Elvar has a certain sword in his possession...

Elvar did better than expected earlier today as well. Days ago he had received a task from Fedris Hler to kill the two Goblin Warchiefs and the two Altmer trainers in the sewers. Now that he finally took the task, he was amazed he actually got it done! Those targets surely weren't easy, but using levitation and some well-timed Absorb Health spells, this Temple's most promising Diviner managed to strike down all four of them. He then returned to Fedris for reward, but more of a reward for him was an opportunity to please Almalexia.

He also did some general helping around in Mournhold, such as solving the rumours around a powerful wizard named Velas; acting in a troupe just to get attacked; following a woman's request to tail a drunk guy to find out about his relationship with another woman; and getting Thrud and Dilborn back together again! \o/

Sorry for the double post, but I just found a quest I'd never played! Well, not necessarily a quest. I guess I rely too much on the expansions' journal-integrated quest tree nowadays, since I've definitely started this some other time, but never finished. It has no quest entries per se.

It was about offering mazte to this drunken Nord in Vivec, Telvanni Canton to make him tell me about a certain ship burial of an ancient Skyrim king. I spent a good time searching for the site in the area he had described to me. After one wrong cave I actually found the right place, but turned away from it. Finding this shipwreck nearby, I was sure it had to be it. In the ship I was greeted by a Skeleton. No question about it - this was the right place. Finally there were an Ancestral ghost and a dead - Altmer? I think putting this ship right there in the way was intentional by the developers. I fell for it, that's for sure, and absolutely loved it! I wasn't in the right place after all!

So, went to that other place I'd found, and it was awesome as heck (if censored, awesome as: :obliviongate: basically). The long corridor downstairs that constantly turned behind the corner, and
Spoiler
- what a tension builder and a surprise - nothing (!)
there in my way, I entered through the next door and found myself... in a labyrinth. I'd never seen such thing in Morrowind, other than in Hircine's Hunt, and that was creepy. I have to say I levitated over it, so I might've spoiled some fun there. :( And there it was, behind the next door - the long-awaited price. The scene looked awesome. And no more enemies, just me and my well-deserved unique loot.

I thought this had to be a mod quest, but it isn't. What a find! I'm surprised I hadn't done this before now - I'd definitely offered the guy mazte before. I think there's another quest where you make a guy to talk with "a brandy", but it might've been any brandy. Still I remember starting this one before, but never finishing. Now that I have, it was surely worth it. Very epic stuff for an adventure that technically isn't even a quest! :)

Powergamed. Sometimes a bit of powergaming is just what we need, after all.

Finished training a new character to level 75 with one hundred points in all skills and attributes (lvl 29-75 today). Revealed every cel on the island by leaping back-and-forth across it by the use of a custom Jump spell. That part took an hour, but it was really fun. With enough health, you can even survive the landings...

Most amusing jump was starting at the High Fane, Vivec, and sailing over Red Mountain and landing in the sea just past the Sheogorad island chain. Another funny jump was a profoundly long (but failed) "leap attack": took off south from near Dagon Fel, armed and pulled back my fist while I was flying over the Grazelands, and released when I was about to land at the bottom of Azura's Coast. I slammed into a Cliff Racer at the end of the jump, but... ah, the shame... the timing of my punch was just a bit off.

Today, Arinbjorn (my fellow Nord warrior) and Julan have both heroically died. We were hunting down Dagoth Ur after obtaining Sunder and Keening (Darknut's Greater dwemer Ruins mod-enabled, spoiler of that mod following), and we found him in Akulakham's chamber. We discovered that the Heart was left alone, so we approached it in order to destroy it, but suddenly a red force field kept us from reaching it. We kept going down the chamber, and found a little tomb with some Dagoth followers. After killing them, we opened a door, and Dagoth Ur was there....exhausted. But as soon as he saw us, he recovered his powers, lowering the force field in the process.

Julan and Arin began combat against him, while I ran towards the Heart, fighting Ur's red shades along the way. When I reached the Heart, I struck it with Sunder and Keening. As I destroyed it, Dagoth Ur teleported himself just behind me....along with Julan and Arin's copse (yes, he was dead). I ran into a rage, used a Thu'um (my char is a Nord BTW) that boosted my combat skills and charged against the murderer, slaying him in several hits. After that, the entire chamber began to collapse. I managed to get though the wooden bridge safely, but it collapsed before Julan could make it, and he fell into the lava, killing him. I barely escaped with my life, going though an obscure tunnel after the main exit was collapsed by a rock. After escaping, Azura thanked me and I went out of that cursed ruin.

Later, I gave all Julan's possesions that he wasn't wearing (I couldn't recover anything from my companion' copses) to his mother, except the first sword he wore and his Glass helmet (which he wasn't wearing at that time), and made with them an altar of him in my family's ancestral tomb, near to another one dedicated to Arin. Later I also put a bottle of Mazte in his altar, and one of Mead in Arin's one. May both never run out in their afterlifes.

Pretty epic fight ^^

My Monk, Pious Treadwell, performed the pilgrimages of the Seven Graces. With high enough speed, it is possible to do the Kummu Fields alter, then catch the Balmora guild guide Vivec, do all 3 Vivec altars, then do the Stop the Moon alter again to refresh the levitate blessing, levitate to the Vivec Mages Guild, take the guild guide to Ald'ruhn, levitate to Gnisis, do the 2 Gnisis altars, levitate to Ghostgate and do that Alter, then levitate back to Ald'ruhn. Man - that is some efficient levitating! I love how doing the 7 altars gets you 3 Temple promotions in one go. I feel holy! :gun: No, not holey.... Holy -

Today, while walking across water, I did my favorite, which is summoning a flame atronach, which of course spawned at the bottom, but amazingly didn't extinguish! I love that. That was right after I found the shipwreck with Captains Guide to Fishy Sticks...a great read, (well sort of). That was for the 4th pillar quest, so right after, I finished the Temple quests. Fun Fun!
