What did you do today in Morrowind? #10

Wait, Julan allied Bohemia? Watch out for Habsburg Ur then, he may attempt to make you part of his domains at some point. Nerevar being reincarnated as a whole historical nation is pretty awesome though.

Spit-take and

And "allied"? More like a peaceful annexation following a series of (reluctantly) defended border incursions...

Today I went to Dagon Fel. I was looking at Sheogorad on a map, and realized that I missed Dagon Fel quite a bit, wasn't there for a long time. So I took the Silt Strider from Ald'Ruhn to Gnaar Mok, then went to Dagon Fel by boat. I arrived at 8 in the morning, under a clear blue sky. I heard some rumors about a nearby Necromancer, but decided to leave, I had some duty at the Fighters Guild.

That dude, Percius, told me about some corrupted members that I had to kill. It was fairly easy, thanks to my hammer, Skull Crusher (first thing I do while visiting Sadrith Mora, go to that Daedric Shrine nearby to seek it). Percius was very pleased about my job, and assigned me one last mission, kill the current Master to take his place. 3 hours later I was the Fighters Guild Master.

Following my plans of gradually getting more used to roleplay, today I've restocked with a backpack full of all sorts of foods, drinks, a skin of water and a bedroll. I also had my Nord fellow warrior and companion to carry another backpack with some cooking tools, books and raw food. Then I went to join the Legion (it was ages since I did that questline for the last time).

I also cooked a crab omelette. I think it turned out good :)

I was in Vivec, doing my temple pilgramages. When I finished the Puzzle Canol, I came out in the ocean just outside the Vivec cantons. I then checked the map and decided I was going to use my water-breathing enchantment to swim to the most southerly land in the whole game. As I was island hopping for no particular reason, I found this cool pool and chilled with this mudcrab, just sitting around with it at the edge of Vvardenfell. Eventually I was going to leave and checked the map, but it was in local mode and I saw a square indicating a new area, and I was like, "Wait what?!" I check it out, sure enough its a grotto, I go in, find this huge Dwemer checkpoint. There's a dead dude there who accidentally killed himself with poison, so that was funny, and then at the end of the area there was a cuirass with a constant effect of 100% fire resistance. I strap that mofo on, and, exit the cave, screaming "I AM IMMUNE TO FIRE!"

Now, to deal with the journey back to Vivec so I can get some Hlaalu quests...

So a few weeks ago I started up a new character after not touching this game for about 8 months (it seems this happens every year). I've been playing by a new rule that I like a lot. Any death means I'm done for the day. Traditional hardcoe rules tend to box me in too much and without any guidelines I have trouble getting a true "desire for survival" in my character without any rules.

So before I even started playing, I came to a realization about my in-game morals that was way off. I usually try to play moral characters and this one is no exception but this time I realized there is something worse than slavery or murder or necromancy that the game treats as completely benign. That's right ENCHANTING. I mean what could be worse than trapping a soul for eons inside of a soul gem or worse imprisoned in an item forced to do the bidding of a master while being trapped in an item.

So I created a backstory. My nord was once a student in the mages guild in the field of Enchant and quite a gifted pupil at that. He went down an experimental path and actually figured out how to trap a soul temporarily. His closest colleague and himself both became interested with concepts such as enchanting something alive and capturing human souls. They approached this as scientists and could not see the dark forces they were meddling with. On the final day they both became trapped in a gem for a short time. When they came too, my character's colleague immediately devoured the gold kanet in a vase near the window (enough kanet taken at once could be a foul poison). Shocked by the death of his friend my character attempted to do the same by jumping out of the window. He broke some bones but the fall wasn't enough to kill him. He was charged on his friends death and put in the imperial cities prison...

Now he kills and taunts enchanters... and leaves a single kanet flower as a threat...

He has disposed of quite a few Telvanni enchanters but the most diabolic thing he has done is leave a flower on the wife's bed in the ald-ruhn enchanters home. He is the singular force against this dark art in Vvardenfell and intends to bring about the end of the practice of capturing souls on the island.

My Nord, Orgnolf the Strong had been progressing on the Main Quest, up until you get the book "progress of truth" to Caisus(or whatever his name is).
Now it is time to train up skills, and progress in a great house.

Urgh. I hate Mournhold.

Today my little Level 83 Light Armor/Marksman/Alchemist battled Gedna Relvel for a really really really long time... and she (Gedna Relvel) KILLED JULAN! NOBODY (nothing?) kills Julan and gets away with it! 'Tis fortunate I save a lot... reloaded a pre-necroJulan save, sent the little guy off to Ald'ruhn for a drink, and spent the next three hours svcking down potions, shooting bolts, summoning hungers, and fire- and frostballing the blankety-blank Lich. Trapped her filthy Undead soul, too! Ha!

I wisely saved my character Kara the Undefeated, at the point before I became a member of House Hlaalu and was able to reload and join House Redoran. I then set out on a number of honorable quests, built a stronghold and finally became Archmaster after a brief duel. I had never done this before and it worked quite well. Then I did the reload again and have joined the Telvanni.

I finished the Telvanni over the weekend. I then taunted Helseth into a duel and slew him for his ring.

I did the Silent Pilgrimage with my ( at the start ) level eight, female, Dunmer Warmage. No tricks were used to speed the journey, no teleportation, no console commands, et cetera. Roads were used until I passed Falasmaryon, after which there really isn't a road for that last bit of Ashland. Ran the entire way, keeping Rest of St. Merris in effect to keep from becoming fatigued.

It was an enjoyable stroll. Athletics, a miscellaneous skill, increased by three to twenty-two; while Restoration, a major skill, increased by six to thirty-six from casting Rest of St. Merris, and Balyna's Soothing Balm after battles. It took one day and fourteen hours in-game to reach the shack -- one hour and eleven minutes real-time.

And now for the jog back...

Updated my mod list to add Westly's FCOT, teleported from Mournhold, went shopping, dressed up in a spiffy new outfit, teleported back to Mournhold, looked fabulous in Clockwork City, killed Almalexia, assassinated Helseth (smarmy paranoid self-important jerk deserved it, and I'll pay my bounty, gladly) by jumping up on the canopy of his throne and throwing some especially nasty darts at him, Divine Interventioned out of the Throne Room, used the Amulet of Shadows + the Ring of Surroundings to sneak back into the Throne Room to loot Helseth's corpse, collected my companions from where I'd left them (Barenziah's chamber), said "So long, Stinktown!" to Mournhold, and was back home in the Ascadian Isles in time for cocktail hour.

I created a spell that says "Cast if you do not not not with to live" which is useful if you do not not not want to live. I misinterpreted and cast it. I did not not not live.

Hilda and I completed the Shrine Sergeant quests and also finished the Oracle quests for the Imperial Cult. Now we need to do some room decorating to display all the sweet weapons/items we received during our stint in the cult. We're also considering hiring a permanent guard or two to safeguard our treasure... they must be worthy though of course.

Edit: Baelin and hilda decided to put off the room rearranging for a bit and on a whim made their first probing raid beyond Ghostgate and onto Red Mountain. Dispactching an Ash Slave and Ash Ghoul with his trusty bow Baelin then decided to visit the last shrine on his Pilgrimmage of the Seven graces for the Tribunal Temple. With that done a small discussion took place and the decision was made to press on probing the Red Mountain region. Up the slope they went, turning right at the first opportunity, they dispatched another Ash Ghoul, while looting the foul creature they were ambushed by a Sixth House Soldier, a Sixth House Prophet and a Sixth House Priestess. Luckily Baelin had recruited an Elite Legion Trooper while passing through Vivec on their way to Ghostgate. This proved to be invaluable as the brave fool charged the oncoming ambushers, attracting all of their attention while Baelin and Hilda sniped with their bows from a distance. The battle was won however Octavius' wounds were too great and he fell, as many other have, on the slopes of the mountain. The first foray into blight country was already proving to be more than had been bargained for. Tactical retreat.

Outside Ghostgate a short distance along the path Baelin and Hilda were then set upon by 3 vampires. An Elder Vampire and two of her vampire lackeys. Luckily they focused on magic attacks more than melee which allowed Baelin to draw their attention with his dead eye marksmanship while dodging their spells all the while Hilda released arrow after arrow. The battle was again won, vampires dispatched, looted of anything that had value. Baelin and Hilda then retired to Ald'Ruhn where they intend to do some bargaining as they unload their captured loot on the highest bidder.

RIP Octavius.

BUMP! Since I actually did pretty lot. Pretty far (at the very end!) of the game so spoiler tags follow. Also, don't read if you're going to play The Rise of House Telvanni mod (strongly recommend you DO want! :D).

Spoiler
Before my Christmas holidays I talked about getting to my university city to "quickly finish The Rise of House Telvanni mod". Well, actually I still haven't finished it! D: It surely is proving to be the best independent (?) MW mod I know!

I finished the main quest. Thought of collecting all the Heart stuff and make all the Sleepers awake separately, but couldn't bother at this time. My enchanter guy is good enough already. :P Also thought of collecting a bit more Threads of the Webspinner to Eno but decided to slay him to become the Grandmaster and take those future Sanguine item finds to myself. Just keeping them in the guild's lair though, in a chest in Eno's room. I liked him, but I liked collecting the Threads more, so I just couldn't let him retire in peace. I hoped he could stay as co-Grandmaster or something... :D Personal advisor? If only my sneak was good or I could have bothered with potions and spells I could've pickpocketed the items away from him, but I've found 17 and it would've taken forever I think. Besides, I believe that, as the head of Morag Tong, he might be pretty good at guessing he's being pickpocketed as well. D:

Never actually got how I'm to do the Grandmaster Writs without the aid of console. I was going to start a topic on this but, since I post here now, I might as well ask about it here. So, how can it be done? :D Now afterwards, I assume that you just should have talked with any Tong's Master about those objects of the writs? (Of which you can't even know without UESPWiki or such OR without a lucky guess / going through all the dialogue options). For me it actually seemed like you can't even know about Grandmaster Writs themselves without kind of a lucky topic hit or internet... I didn't even have Larius Varro as a topic at first. Needed to go through Fort Moonmoth dialogue tree IIRC to get it.

Didn't do the one for Baladas - he's one of my best companions and research colleagues in my little faction. ^^ Was clever enough to "slay" Therana as a part of her suicide (TRoHT mod) for an easy 10k gold. That's also my last quest I'm gone through with the mod at the moment. It seems there's much to play in it. Said it already, I know, but can't praise it enough! ^^

Enjoying hearing the passionate line, 'Mournhold! City of light! City of magic!' time and time again even though
a) their loony Goddess is long gone (and no-one seems to realize it)
B) ashstorms have left Vvardenfell but, curiously enough, not Mournhold...
c) thus, it's currently the farthest place possible from any light or magic :D

Discovered that I could also make the Thirsk hunters hunt for snow animals even though the shipment of mead is only just underway. I think they've taken far more than seven days already though... Visited there today, after what seemed like 20 days in gametime, just to see that the order's been made but it hasn't arrived yet. And of course I stayed to sing a happy In the Cave He Met a Beast duet with Bathmar! :D

Thinking of killing Vivec. He's not that bad of a guy though. I think he learned something about not playing with big boys' toys. Letting him live, at least for now. Too bad I never picked up Azura's Star to my first ever Tribunal playthrough. Although I didn't even know I would need it there. Maybe I should've figured...? If I get a sudden urge to trap any other big soul, though, it has to be Vivec's.

That's about all that comes to mind. I think I got pretty much done for a day this time. :P

First time player here. I took the Silt-Strider to Balmora and joined the Mages Guild, the Fighters Guild and the Blades. I got as much Training as I could afford and learned how to rest in a bed. It wasn't the T key at all!
