What did you do today in Morrowind? #11

Post » Fri May 04, 2012 8:26 am

Agricola (level 4) made the journey from Gnisis to Ald Velothi, and acquired Ash Chancre along the way. After healing his blight in the basemant of the Redoran outpost he proceeded to rescue Madura Seran from some angry Ashlanders. He then walked to Khuul, where he was disappointed to find that Thongar doesn't actually rent beds. So, after a little bartering, he set off once more to the North East (to complete my character's customary clockwise circumnambulation of Vvardenfel to start his career).

On a semi-related note, I realized that rescuing Madura is a legion quest, and my character intends to join the legion. Apparently, there is a small bug relating to rescuing her before the quest is officially given but that it is fixed by the Morrowind Patch Project. (I would also assume they fix Thongar's not renting beds). If I install the MPP now, will I everything be cleared up for me when I join the legion?

Today, Velavesa ran chores for the Telvanni Mouths. She helped free the Abebaal Mine slaves, then brought Cure Blight potions to Tel Vos, stopping to pick up Dazi's umbrella along the way. Nice excuse to return to the Sable Dragon Inn, which she liked visiting a while ago. Later, she ventured out from Tel Vos, finding the ruins of Nchuleft. After conquering hordes of automaton spiders, she recovered the schematics she'd been asked to retrieve, along with several other alchemical goods and a book, the Chronicles of Nchuleft. She considered going back to Sadrith Mora from there, but she remembered she had been asked to deliver a missive to Indoranyon, and decided to sail out to Tel Aruhn to begin the journey.

Arriving in Tel Aruhn, Velavesa had dinner and decided to try to find a bed to rent for the night. After finding out that there were no beds for rent, she decided to start the journey early instead, Water Walking from the island north like she had been told. A short time later, Indoranyon came into view. It had stopped raining, but she couldn't bed down just yet. Trekking up the stronghold stairs, she was confronted by a worshipper and a Daedroth, who she made short work of. Finally, she unpacked her bedroll and slept until the morning. Awake and well-rested, she read the note upon the stronghold door. She was confident she wouldn't get stuck, so she decided not to leave a Mark before entering.

Once inside, she made her way through the stronghold, fighting off worshippers as she did, until she reached Qorwynn. She delivered the message, then went to make her way out...only to discover that she was indeed stuck. For a moment, she panicked, but then remembered the intervention scrolls she had picked up a while back. Taking out the ALMSIVI scroll, she read it, then closed her eyes as it took effect. Strangely, there was some interference, then it felt as if she was thrown halfway across the world.

When she opened her eyes, she was in an unfamiliar town. She discovered that the town was named Ranyon-ruhn, and was, surprisingly, on the mainland! After this discovery, she set out to return to Sadrith Mora, trekking southwest across a mountain range. She was attacked by fellow Dunmer and by strange new insects, called Muskflies. After walking across the mountains and a grassland (and stopping to take in the sight of a valley with http://img40.imageshack.us/img40/7753/mgescreenshot009.png), she reached the coast. She was attacked by a Golem, which she marveled at after it was defeated. After Water Walking, she reached an island near Sadrith Mora, and stopped for the night. Awaking refreshed, she completed the journey back to Sadrith Mora. Aware of how stinky she was after such a journey, she stopped at the Public Bath, then reported in to the Mouths before stopping at the Gateway Inn and delivering Qorwynn's answer to Ardarume. In exchange for the answer, she was given one of the Psijic Order's gray robes. http://img29.imageshack.us/img29/2497/mgescreenshot010.png.

(The Ranyon-ruhn Intervention teleport really did happen. I have no idea why, as the UESPWiki says it should've teleported her to Ald'ruhn. This was my first real experience with Tamriel Rebuilt content, and it was amazing.)

I understand that, if you install MPP now, the Legion will handle that quest as the game will handle most previously done faction quests. You're given the quest. Then you can talk to the quest giver again and he'll thank you for the job well done and reward you: mission accomplished. :) I'm not entirely sure, though. It should be like this since it's supposed to be fixed, and almost any quest in the game works like that by default, if you've done it before it's given to you.

Agricola...

If you mean the Roman general largely responsible for the successful conquest of Britain, who was an exemplar of a strong moral character, incorruptible, yet modest, as written about by Tacitus, then yes: my Agricola is inspired by him. If you're referring to a different Agricola...well, I don't know any others.

Nevermind, turns out I was talking about a completely different guy. ._. My head also just exploded on how many Agricola there have been (listen on Wikipedia)... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Agricola

*gotta come up with something other than this complete off-topic...*

Oh, I did do something in Morrowind today! Tested if a console command that I'd given to a fellow forumite actually worked. :D

Oh, I've missed this thread.

Finished up Bloodmoon with the main character yesterday and settled her into Ascadian Rose Cottage today. She's had a very long few weeks up in Solstheim and I think a nice long vacation down south will be good for her
I also started a stealth-based character for the first time in a verrrrrry long while. She spent a little while in Seyda Neen, hunting and pilfering, then moved on to Balmora to join the Guild. We did guild jobs most of the day and wrapped it up by delivering Rabinna to Balmora. Mirenwen didn't get involved in the fight and Vorar ended up winning. Didn't really make a difference to her what happened as long as she got paid. It's very refreshing to play a character that works only for her own profit and doesn't really care who gets hurt along the way.

Agricola killed Sorkvild the Raven and is now wearing the Masque of Clavicus Vile. He is now preparing for his march south, following Vvardenfel's Eastern Coast.

Tried a new char... an imperial lover monk (gonna go hand to hand unarmored (cept left cloth bracer) and maybe sometimes use a staff) amusing and more challenging this time

The Lover Monk brings to my mind some stereotypical black pimp from TV. You know, the one with a very low-pitched voice. D: Say, not a bad role-playing idea... Ha. "Roleplaying." Yeah, right,.

Anyhow, the monk character began to intrigue me, and I've never really played a hand-to-hand guy before. I should start a character like that out... now!

Ya I probably could have worded it better.

Well... I honestly didn't know what to name him so I called him Miroku as I watched that show growing up :P ... so the lover is kinda appropriate ^_^

Just make sure to wear at least one peice of armor if you are going unarmored as the game for whatever reason won't calculate your armor properly for unarmored unless you have something on (hence my left cloth bracer)

I find the unarmored and hand to hand to be more interesting I have to be more careful, avoid unecessary fights and plan things out.

ex: even as my normal assassin who isn't a tank and not meant for straight up fights I didn't make too much effort avoiding rats or cliff racers, now if I see em I try to go around them if it's not too much trouble as every fight is a chance to take some damage which ads up and fights take longer, if more cliff racers agroed I could get over my head quick.

I do forsee H2H being a tad op once I become competent in absorb fatigue spells and paralysis though :P

Also all the free weight for carrying random things is great...

Yup, I know. I don't know if I will, though. Might look for a patch for it instead if there is one. Currently my Armor Rating without any pieces of armor is 8, though. Unarmored skill is at 36.

Exactly the reasons why I wanted to start this char. The first fists vs. fists fight against Foryn Gilnith was long and epic itself.

Name: Barhel Sandas
Race: Dark Elf
Class: Nomad
Class Description: Barhel Sandas is a Nomad, a wandered and vagabond gone to Morrowind in search of what is left of his family -- if anything. He cherishes the harmony of nature and inner peace, and relies on his Monk-like skills and philosophy of "what you don't own, you can't loose".

Major Skills: Unarmored, Restoration, Hand-to-hand, Mysticism, Blunt Weapon (for his Silver Staff only)
Minor Skills: Acrobatics, Athletics, Alchemy, Speechcraft, Sneak

I'm trying to play him the way the in-game monks seem the when you ask them about "my trade". A peaceful healer type who can use his staff and fists if he has to, basically. Generally against all evil, plotting, and anything that would steer nature away from its harmony. Won't steal; won't even touch the loot in the tombs. Takes only what he has to for living. I think I might try the Necessities mod with him, so that the character must sleep and eat. I've done this so far. It's Day 1, though.

Silver Staff is basically against enemies that you cannot defeat with fists, like the strong ones and the undead for example.

About him searching for his family... there's a Sandas Ancestral Tomb in the game, but no other Sandas.

What birthsign did you pick (just curious)

man now I'm almost tempted to make another new char based off the haruchai...

"Haruchai are a hardy race of warriors living in the Westron Mountains, west of the Land. The Haruchai shun the use of weapons or magic, taking pride in their own physical prowess and the purity of their service, which is never given lightly. They also have the ability to communicate amongst themselves via mental telepathy. Outwardly stoic, even seemingly emotionless, they could also be considered arrogant in their beliefs. It is revealed on several occasions that the Haruchai are a deeply passionate race, capable of swearing a lifetime's worth of service if sufficiently moved."

That would prove difficult... no magic and only hand to hand

perhaps later

:asd, how did I forget to list it? The Lady. +25 to Personality and Endurance. I like that sign a lot for variety.

Cool. 0_0 I think I'll stick with Barhel for now, though. :P

The Code Patch fixes that bug, so the cloth bracer becomes unnecessary.

Athena celebrated New Life today; first she went shopping in Vos and Pelagiad. Afterward she picked up a New Life-tree and decorations, food and wine and set off to Balmora where Nine-Toes and Ravirr' where waiting to http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v436/SameerSoekhai/NewLifeatRavirrs.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v436/SameerSoekhai/NewLifeatRavirrs2.jpg with her.

I ran around naked, and found some farm. The guy didn't like me, so I went back to hoping my "friendly" Khajiit self wouldn't get hurt. Then I found a vampire lair. I became vampire food, but somehow was rez'd by some thing called a save. Khajiit has never heard of this, well, I know of it, but Klawed Flaw doesn't. The Khajiit Klawed Flaw in all of the Elder Scrolls games I've played, that is. He will never know.

I was testing out the Steam Friendly Morrowind Code Patch, which is exactly why it was needed to have a character run around naked... And yes, the unarmored skill is now not bugged. Now my character can make shopkeepers laugh and stuff. Maybe it was just that one high elf or dark elf or Marge Simpson who got her skin dyed that was laughing about how lively a naked Khajiit is.

Today I slaughtered all the Thieves Guild masters. and then i had to kill the Fighters Guild master because that's how he rolls and then his 2IC got jealous of me and attacked me so he had to die too. which was ufortunate because he had a lot of gold to barter with. so now i'm the Fighters Guild master and now i'm searching for sponsors for House Redoran.

This is my first playthrough so everything is new to me.

Also, i saw a few posts up someone had a character called Athena. as do I. A Breton mage i made the other day. haven't played her much though.

Last week, I went up against Gedna Relvel. Entered her tomb at level 50 with my warrior/merchant, equipped with Daedric katana, Eleidon's Ward and Ebony/Daedric armor combo and got royally screwed. Today, I bought enough Exclusive Reflect Spell potions to embarrass the Telvanni and brought 70 Dwarven Darts along with an Daedric/Her Hand armor combo with Adamantium helmet to boot at level 51. Delved down to her tomb again and took her out with 4-5 darts. Only took one hit myself.

What.

Went on an epic walkabout from the Uishishushunishubabalikkiishuurushh camp (part of the MQ) to, eventually, Tel Vos. I had only the vaguest idea of where I was going (only 1 previous playthrough at least a year ago, and only got to around lvl 20 then), and as a level 10 Acrobat I was mostly sneaking around all the horribles along the way.

It was great, though - probably the first time in a game where I actually felt lost, so seeing the road signs for Tel Vos was an immense relief!
