What difficulty are you planning on playing?

Post » Tue Dec 01, 2015 11:26 pm

This is a no-judgment zone, so if you say very easy then that's fine by me haha. I think most people will probably leave it on normal unless it gets too easy or too difficult, but I personally plan on trying on very hard from the get-go. I'm hardly a difficulty masochist, though, so I avoid games like Dark Souls since that much rage and stress and failure isn't worth it, but I do enjoy the challenge and the fear of death at every turn to some degree.

And I'm mainly talking about the five difficulties on the settings slider, not hardcoe mode such as the one in New Vegas, but we can talk about that too.

If there's a survival mode on top of the standard difficulty settings, I'll go for that. Otherwise, I'll probably start with it one tier above normal and see how that feels. Expert difficulty is juuust right for Skyrim, but for a shooter like Fallout, I dunno.

I play Normal in every game ever. Its the developers intended experience, atleast I like to think so, and that's that.

I did go hardcoe mode in New Vegas, but that's to get some survival elements into the game which I just can't say no to.

Probably normal. Perhaps turn it up to at least expert or whatever mode lies between normal and very hard whenever when I am at a higher level.

I never play on the hardest difficulty in a Bethesda game. Doesn't make the game any more challenging, just a bunch of tedious damage sponges.

That's fair, I admit I might be a bit too confident that I can handle the harshness of very hard mode in the Boston wasteland, but unlike in TES games where difficulty mostly affected damage, at least in Fallout 3 and NV you also get extra xp for kills in higher difficulties which makes sense...but that might be a negative for those not wanting to level so quickly. Fallout and NV became too easy on normal and hard modes once I found really good equipment and had a follower, so I had to max the difficulty. Project Nevada I believe also added the feature where armor protection didn't apply to your head or the enemy's unless headgear was worn which I enjoyed, so my hope is that locational damage is determined by the armor on that body part, which would make any difficulty interesting.

And yes to a practical survival mode, I really hope they do it.

You have a very good point, it's pretty annoying when enemies take a few clips to kill... *cough* deathclaws *cough*. I'll have to play it by ear, if the game is just a tedious chore on a higher difficulty then I have no problem with normal or hard.

Normal. I don't much care for Bethesda's typical difficulty settings, which just make enemies more bullet-spongy (I much prefer difficulty settings that increase damage and/or A.I. responsiveness), so if that's the case, I shan't be touching the difficulty settings. I will definitely be using any hardcoe survival options.

The highest difficulty setting with hardcoe/survival mode activated, presuming the game contains one. I like my Fallout experience to be brutal and harsh.

I'll probably end up doing half a playthrough on normal and then end up starting over on the hardest setting.

Likely Normal. I have a habit of playing games at any difficulty. It just depends on what mood I am in at the time.

Usually Bethesda Games it is Normal or the Default setting.

I don't play roleplaying games to experience "difficulty." I play all of Bethesda's games at default difficulty.

hardcoe, where you have to eat and find water to stay alive! and you must sleep at least 5 hours a day.

Easy. I've always done that on every game I've ever played except for Civ 2. I used to play that on King. After having a small stroke, my dexterity just is not there,

I always play games on normal. I don't like games to be too easy or too hard.

One step more difficult than normal. That's how I enjoy Skyrim at least.

I'll play normal first time & hopefully hardcoe survival mode for my second play through, if there is one. Fingers crossed!

I will probably play at the default setting and adjust the difficulty as needed through the character-generation system.

Speaking of hardcoe mode, I did notice on one of the screen shots a canteen attached to the belt of the lone wanderer. I'm not sure if this is just decorative or if it has purpose. I'm hoping for the latter.

Super over the top extremely superbly undeniably and absolutely very easy. I'll drop that difficulty as low as it will go whoop whoop ;) Look out Boston. Your new God is coming.
