What Difficulty Will You Play on First?

Post » Mon Dec 07, 2015 5:49 pm

I'm leaning towards Very Hard. I'm planning on doing a Stealth/Sniper Build and want to be punished for any mistakes I make to really increase the immersion. I also have never found Fallout to be all that difficult so I'm hoping for a bit of a challenge.

I play on Very Easy, because I'm a weenie. I like enjoying the story and plot without having to be worried about getting my ass handed to me in 30 seconds. If it's too easy, I'll move down to easy or normal.

I always play Bethesda games on their default difficulty. Pushing the difficulty slider to harder difficulties only alters damage dealt and damage received. This is pointless and tedious, in my opinion.

Normal, same as I've always played every Beth game ever.

Was thinking of Normal, but I'd just end up upping it a notch, seems to always go that way with Beth games (and Bioware) So to safe me the trouble I think I'm going to start of on hard this time around.

Start with Normal. If modding is the enchanting of this game that makes one god-like, I might end up with Survival at endgame.

I'll probably play on either normal or very easy, depending on how I feel. Either way, I doubt I'll die in the first few hours.

I played all others on very easy for less xp. I hated leveling fast.

Somehow along the way I got used to playing Bethesda games on hardest setting, often with mods that increase enemy spawns or improve A.I.

As a result, if I'm not dying and reloading numerous times with each combat encounter then it feels unbalanced, like the player is too powerful. Really enjoy that tactical feeling when you get a little further into an epic battle with a large group of enemies, save, get killed, reload, manage to kill one more enemy, save, die, reload, etc.

Recall similar experience back in Oblivion with FCOM, Duke Patrick's mods and that brutal difficulty slider.

Likely Normal mode since I usually find the game to be more balanced that way in Bethesda Games.

I might take a look at Survival mode to see what it does.

I might even just play the game at super easy mode. It all depends on what mood I am in. That is why I will likely have created quite a few characters in the first day.

Probably normal/survival - since I think that the player 'needs' will be better balanced than the nuisance they were in New Vegas...but without any of the buffs to either side that normal will provide otherwise.

EDIT: Provided Survival is, indeed, merely a modifier like hardcoe was in NV.

If this game has dynamic difficulty I will just play normal.

If it actually has difficulty settings that you are locked into for your play through, I will play hard.

Normal difficulty. Bethesda's diff levels always come down to: you do less damage, enemies do more damage. Sounds pretty tedious to me but whatever floats your boat.

Agreed.
That is sadly common way of doing "difficulty" today.

This is exactly the reason why I never up the difficulty. Beth uses an artificial, boring way of upping the difficulty. An hardcoe mode is the kind of ''hard'' difficulty I like.

If, on the other hand, upping the difficulty would make the game more realistic (getting shot in the head = 1hit kill, for example), I would be all over it.
