What difficulty would be best to play FNV on right away?

Post » Thu Sep 02, 2010 12:24 am

I was thinking Easy + hardcoe, I figure i would get more out of my bullets, but not too much, If easy is the same as point lookout i will still go through stimpacks like crazy, plus i think it is cooler when you do more realistic damage to the other characters, i think it would be a good trade-off for playing on hardcoe mode. :P 2 days 19 hours. :sadvaultboy:

I would like to go with very hard difficulty, but if it grants me 150% bonus XP per kill like it did in Fallout 3, I won't. Don't want to risk reaching level 30 too early in the storyline, since some of the entertainment disappears once character development stops. I expect to go with normal difficulty, in hardcoe mode.

I'm in agreement with you, I like my headshots to mean something.

I'll try normal and hardcoe but if I don't like the damage on it, the difficulty is going to easy.

hardcoe all the way for me. I can't wait.

What'll end up happening is that I'll get about halfway through the game on medium settings, then I will want to restart using Hard and hardcoe mode. It always happens to me. I'll get halfway through an RPG, then rationalize to myself how I need to start over and do things right this time. :P

if you haven't played FO3, then normal.

If you have played FO3, then Normal/hardcoe for the first game.

Normal/hardcoe.

Unless they change how the difficulty options work from Fallout 3. Worst difficulty modifiers ever. The last thing I want when intentionally turning up the difficulty setting is to actually level up faster than normal.

First play through either easy or normal with no hardcoe. One subsequent play throughs I'll try hard. To be honest though, hardcoe does not sound fun at all. The fact that I now need to drink/eat/rest seems like it would be more annoying the fun. Also, it would svck if your out in the wilderness and you step on one of those invisible mines and now your crippled. So, unless you are lucky enough to have a doctors bag you have to limp your way back to civilization just to get healed.

"Oh no. I'm dehydrating. Let me quit exploring and killing monsters so I can look for some water."

I know I will end up being an hour into exploring and I'll start getting dizzy or whatever happens. I see little to no fun in that.

I get that it adds a new dimension to the game but, it seems like it will be way more annoying and frustrating then fun. I predict that the people that use it all the way through will only use it for the achievement. When half of your deaths are from starving you WILL NOT be having fun.

hardcoe + Medium most likely. Possibly Hard, but like a few others said, bullet sponges aren't really fun, getting a lot of extra EXP can really ruin the game once you max your stats, and the fact that everything is heal-over-time in hardcoe mode is going to change gameplay quite a bit already.

The thing I dont like about the hardcoe mode is the ammo weight.
I like to loot and explore.

maybe I will try it after afew games ,when I know the layout better.

I prefer Very Hard, because killing everybody in a few seconds is extremely boring.

Medium or maybe Hard. Very Hard just makes things annoying, not difficult. The difficulty level should adjust the amount of enemies, the tactics they use, the amount of ammo/weapons available for the player etc., instead of just -dmg% for player and +dmg% for NPC's (or vice versa for easier difficulty levels). Always thought that was lazy from Bethesda's part ever since Morrowind.
