I usually go for Normal or Hard on first playthroughs, if your looking for a challenge go ahead and try Hard, or hardcoe if you really want a challenge.

I'll be starting on the easiest setting first in order to get my bearings, learn, explore and adapt to the new changes. Then switching to hardcoe after the first or second playthrough once I'm confident enough in my knowledge of the game.

Very Hard hardcoe.

I've found that once you get used to a difficulty setting, you can thrive in it and have a lot of fun. Lower settings will just make you get used to them, and then find the higher settings to be too difficult and not fun. Obviously, if they still have the idea of high difficulty means +500 HP, then stick to Medium hardcoe (or drop the hardcoe, if you don't like some of the features).

I think that I will try medium hardcoe for my first playthrough because medium sounds like a good step up and hardcoe will add alot of things that sound pretty sweet and could add a bit of realism and challenge. Is the game going to have a save before the end just as F3 did before Broken Steel?

Medium, i think is best for balance because...
Very Easy-Easy = invincible PC
Very Hard-Hard = invincible enemies
Oh and hardcoe Mode is best for immersion.

Whatever the default is. Difficulty setting has been mostly pointless in Bethesda titles and the current Devs never mentioned the setting doing anything different in NV.

Very Hard hardcoe Mode.

This. there are not "more enemies" so the only thing that makes very hard harder is the enemies are more of bullet sponges, which you can get around by making a completely bad ass character.

And hardcoe mode for the survival aspect!

Do the enemies deal out more damage too or is your health more vulnerable on Very Hard?

Yes you take more damage, but it's not like an enemy hits you 2-3 times and you die. Unless you're playing Point lookout :cryvaultboy:
You can still take a good deal of damage, but I for one like that because at the end of FO3 i had what 400+ stimpaks sitting around?

I always play on normal, its not too hard but its not a walk in the park either.

Higher difficulty means more experience but the enemies are harder and you have to waste more bullets. Putting it easier means weaker enemies but lower amount of experience

Edit- Part ninjaed :ninja:

I always leave the default difficulty for games when it's my first time playing, so I can see how hard the game is really meant to be. Usually that's medium, an if it's any lower I tend to set it to medium. With hardcoe mode on I'm pretty sure that'll be fun.

Normal if you just want to get your bearings. But I will be going for the hard hardcoe right off the bat as I look forward to strategize to beat tough opponents, I can't wait.

I played Fallout 3 on normal for one playthrough. Later I switched to very hard. It isn't a huge difference. The enemies are harder to kill. That means that you have to plan your fights better. This makes victory more rewarding. Once I started getting good gear, I had no problem cleaning house. As long as it wasn't three deathclaws at once I could handle the situation.

I'll try it on very hard hardcoe my first playthrough. I might lower it to an easier difficulty on subsequent playthroughs, so I can side with different factions to see how the story plays out.

I've stated it before, and I'll state it again. I play on Very Easy alot of the time, why? Because long combat sequences frustate me with intense boredom.

I like the strategy of having stronger enemies and having to set up mine traps and such or sneaking in to reverse pickpocket some nade/mines (looking forward to C4), Sneak crits from a sniper rifle (Reservist or Victory) still did a great deal of damage.

On an off note are you going to change your location to "The Lucky 38" in 3 days? haha.

Nope. I may change it back to 'Mississippi'. Or I may write something stupid. Depends xD

I'm going to go Medium with hardcoe mode. I play F3 on Hard but that's because when I get hurt (which I do a lot) I just spam a few of my thousand or so stimpaks. With hardcoe mode that won't be an option, so I think I'll find Normal challenging enough.
