What direct X version do you have? (poll)

Post » Fri Dec 31, 2010 12:56 am

ASUS MaximuxIIIExtreme
Core i5
6GB RAM
GTX465

I've been working hard to save money and buy upgrades. Planning to sell my pet dog, my old tv, my playstation, I would sell anything ( excluding my girlfriend ) to buy 580/590 and i7.

I wouldn't mind dropping more Ca$h for 580 or 590 if Crysis 2 will support DX11.

I wonder if this pole is any sort of accurate representation of the entire community of PC gamers. Pretty overwhelming numbers using dx11 as far as this thread goes.

Currently using:

Gigabyte 6870 oc,
Gigabyte gts 250 (physx for the lulz),
AMD phenom 2 x4 @ 3.5
8gigs of ddr3 (g-skill and ocz)
ASrock 870 mobo

I have a GTX 580 running on my gaming rig. DX11 it is, however I wish more games came out for DX11, not DX9.

The Nvidia GTX 590's have already sold out. The pc community is definately gearing up for DX11 goodness. We just need the support from the game developers.

I am starting to think that most of the users visiting this forum are looking for updates about DX 11. I figured that most people interested in Crysis 2 would have reasonable hardware, but 83% already with DX 11 capable hardware and 71% currently using DX 11 is much more than I expected. I was going to put a good bet that people running DX 10 would be slightly higher than DX 11.

I have a GTX260 which supports DX10, but DX10 mainly lags and doesn't really look better than DX9 so I just use DX9 mode in games.
And I have Windows 7, so I have DX11 installed

If you have a 260GTX you do not have DX 11 installed.

That results are far away from reality. 72% DX 11 ratio is insanity.

System:
AMD X4 965@3.8GHz
GA-MA790X-DS4
3GB DDR2 800MHz
Powercolor HD5870 PCS+ OC (925MHz/1275MHz)
500GB RAID 0
600W OCZ Modular

The STEAM survey is the best overall study of hardware used by gamers but I too am surprised by how many DX11 capable users are on these forums.

Oh holly ****!!!!

DirectX 9 - 1%
DirectX 9 (but my card is capable of DX 10) - 4%
DirectX 9 (but my card is capable of DX 11) - 12%
DirectX 10 - 11%
DirectX 11 - 72%

WOW.... it's just: WOW. I never thought so many people besides me have a GPU capable of DX11! I though most have DX10 stuff still. Really impressive. SEE CRYTEK, DO YOU SEE THIS?!

yes 72 % uses Dx11 but the pc sales are estimated around 14% withtout steam make it like 18-20 % with digital downloads if we are lucky.
Means 80% = consoles = dx9

If we want to see dx11 standard in all upcoming games than we have to wait for the next consoles wich will have Dx11.

OR make an EMP blast on all consoles in the WORLD!

this sounds much better cause eliminates future issues with pathetic console ports, LIKE the Crysis 2.

I doon't understand why the game was released in DX9 instead of DX11 version, I must say that the first crysis was better. I am disappointed by the choice of crytec. I hope that crytec releases a patch to enable DX11. What do you think?

I and everyone with a decent gaming rig would be considered stupid, if they had a good CPU and GPU and DX11 and yet run games on DX9 whilst having the option to go for Dx10 or 11.

Why?

Then why on earth did you spend so much money on a Dx11 GPU and a powerful CPU, if you CHOOSE to run a game or application on Dx9 (what is it like 4 year old technology now?).

With that said, any game or application that forces you with anything lower than Dx11 is fine, that is NOT you're choice (aka Crysis 2 perfect example).

I admit having POM which is a DX 9 effect would make me happy. It should be interesting what people like Xzero from the Crysis 1 boards will be able to do once the Sandbox comes out.

I'm amazed at the number of people that have no idea about DX9, DX10, DX11. Seriously? you think it's an option you can set on your card? Look at the poll, Majority think there card is DX11 only?

sell pc.....go buy xbox

I am assuming if they know their card can do DX 11 they probably understand that it can also do DX 10 and 9. Nowhere in the poll does it say "What is the only Direct X your card can do".
