I have 2 Radeon 6870s in crossfire

DX11 would be great but I hope SP and MP issues get fixed first or at least take priority over DX11 the game is very buggy even for a DX9 title

It might be interesting for developers to know what the breakdown of hardware is among "hardcoe" PC gamers.

If you wish to know the breakdown of gamers hardware, you just have to look up on steam.

Most people have a DX10 card. Then DX11 cards come then DX9 and finally DX8 (LOL) cards.

I guess this pole either has a lot of DX11 card users by coincidence (I'm one of them) or some people are lying that they have a DX11 card. Idk, this is all according to a survey (I think by steam?)

Sapphire 5870 1GB DX11, I bought this card specifically for Crysis 2 and they throw dx9 at my freakin' face.
Also I bought it last january and I've been patiently waiting to try it with Crysis 2. Im so god damn saddened.

I don't think it would make much sense for someone with a DX10 or 9 card to be lying about having a DX 11 card as that would not at all benefit them.

The pole here shows that most of the people in the forum at PC enthusiasts, and expected Crysis 2 to be the new and improved benchmark game for the PC.

I only have an ATI Radeon 4650 which is DX10.1, which is okay but compared to the insane level people have here, it's weak XD I run Crysis 2 on High at around 30-40fps though. I use Win7 64bit, and you can use DX11 without a DX11 feature complient card, first time DirectX has let you do that. Dragon Age 2 for example, lets me run the DX11 mode however it just turns of SM5.0 and Tesselation. It does however, give the benefit of multi-threaded rendering on the CPU, which is far better optimised if you have Quad Core. As i do.

Core i7 720QM
4GB DDR3-1333
1Gb AMD Radeon 4650M
750Gb HDD

I can play DX11, and I was hoping Crysis 2 would have it. That was why I went down and bought it: DX11. I thought it would have similar (or better, as the word 'sequel' implies) graphics to Crysis 1 and maybe be better optimised. But no.

i7 950 3.06 GHz
HD6950 2GB
Kingston 6GB DDR3 1600MHz
Windows 7 64bit
2TB HDD (I wanted SSDs in RAID, but I didn't have enough munny :P)
No overclocking for me :P

Everyone assumes everybody uses steam. I only use steam when a game requires it for install and playing it. I think alot of people that have the money for DX11 cards possibly don't need to use steam so extensively for games. What would be more reliable is the number of sales of DX11 cards from the manufacturers. Almost all cards I know of use a serial number which says to me the manufacturers do track the sale or lack of sale on each card to an extent. I for one have two 580's and never even saw a poll on steam to take nor would I have most likely bothered. Basically Steam and this forum are unreliable ways of taking a litmus test regarding what DX is most prevalent among card owners.

While I am pretty sure crytec has implemented an ET that calls home to tell them our system stats I'll tell you (the OP) what system I have since it seems to interest you.

i7 720 mobility CPU @1.6GHz per core
Radeon 5870m with 1GB dedicated RAM (no idea about the clock frequencies though)
4GB DDR3 RAM (again not sure about the specific clocks)

Run the game smoothly in 1920x1080 on extreme but it actually looks nicer on the second highest setting since the effects are **** you get with the higher version (somehow I get motion blur on extreme but now on lower settings and the motionblur is incredible stupid since you see it even if they just walk slowly)

I also use Win7 64bit, so I COULD go dx11.

2x 1Gb EVGA GTX 560 Ti SC SLI
8GB Corsair Vengeance DDR3 1600Mhz

Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit

That is one of things I am curious about. A DX 10 card is required to play the game and a strong majority of gamers use windows vista or above. Also since Crysis was able to utilize DX 10 it seems odd that Crysis 2 would not have been able to at least utilize DX 10. Sure there is really nothing that DX 10 can do that DX 9 can't do, but it is much more efficient at being able to do some things. Actually it is possible to use tesselation and some other DX 11 features on DX 9, but it becomes near impossible to run it at a reasonable framerate.

I have to imagine he is just saying that. He posted these specs in another post and it was something along the line of $15,000. If I made millions of dollars I would build a ridiculous computer, but even then I would probably not build one that crazy.

This much crazy high end config is not necessary.Only one gtx 590 is enough for 2 years.
If you want to spend money ,go for gaming accessories like mice and keyboard from razor,Razor megalodon 1.7 head phone,3D monitor, nvidia 3D vision set, etc.
that would make huge difference in your gaming experience.
Or if you wan't to spend ridicules amount of money on pc ,go buy new Alianware Aura dextop.
You will get best quality, brand and above all a superb style statement.
Alianware give nice pc case,if you know what I mean.
Go search alianware on google.

6yrs ago I bought an ATI x850xt PE for £400, money well spent lol
