What direct X version do you have? (poll)

Post » Thu Dec 30, 2010 10:47 pm

Since Crysis 2 requires an 8800GT or HD 3850 (both DX 10 cards) to play I was curious to see what Direct X version people use. Direct X 9 is included since maybe not everyone on the forums can actually play Crysis 2, but are on the forums to learn more about Crysis 2, or perhaps troll. Direct X 9 with multiple options is included for gamers still using Windows XP, but have a card that could do DX 10 or 11 with a newer version of Windows.

It might be interesting for developers to know what the breakdown of hardware is among "hardcoe" PC gamers.

If you feel like it you can also post your specs as well.

SPECS:
Windows 7 x64 Ultimate SP 1
Q6600 @ 3.2ghz
4GB ram
580GTX

EDIT:
Also as a note don't let this turn into a "WTF Crysis 2 is only DX 9 FFFFUUUUU!" thread as there are plenty already on the PC board.

EDIT:
Renamed poll to "What direct X version do you have?" so that people don't think the question is what DX version are you running Crysis 2 with. Also enabled it so people can re-vote if they misunderstood the poll.

main post edited so that this doesn't devolve into the standard bitter board that occurs when DX 11 is brought up. Everyone knows that it is using DX 9 only at the moment and complaining about it on almost a third of the posts is not going to make things happen any faster.

I use an Ati 4890 which is DX10.1, so I cannot use DX11 only features, but can use the backwardly compatible benefits of DX11.

AMD Athlon 64 X2 6400+ Black Edition, nVidia nForce 590 SLI, 2x GeForce 8800GT 512MB, 8GB OCZ DDR2-800 SLI Edition, Samsung F1 1TB, Be-Quiet Straight Power 700 Watt, Windows 7 64 bit Home Premium.

So that makes me limited to being able to running DX10 because of the cards...

@Sam, try reading the Whole Topic Starters Post, There is no DX10 or DX11 (yet, but its supost to be added with patch, including 64 bit suport)

This poll is just to figure out what peoples hardware supports. You can not change to DX 11 in Crysis 2 currently.

4GB Corsair XMS2 (DDR2-800)

AMD Radeon HD6950 (Flashed to a 6970) It's a beast of a card for the price. even though it overheats if I don't put the fan speed on high as I don't have a case fan blowing air onto the card yet, because Royal Mail delivery is absolute **** bollocks and has lost the fans I paid good money to order for my new PC. I have to wait like 10 more **** days before I can claim against those useless ****.

I upgraded my rig in anticipation for Crysis 2, as I did for Crysis 1.

All brand new in the past 3 weeks:

- Core i7 2600K
- MSI P67A-GD65 B3 Stepping Motherboard
- MSI N560GTX-Ti Twin Frozr Nvidia DIRECTX 11
- 8GB Corsair Vengeance RAM
- Zalman CNPS10X Extreme Chip Cooler

I hope Crytek, AND Nvidia, and even ATI are watching these boards. These games sell there cards, and the cards sell their games. If the games don't push the new hardware, then the sales of the new hardware will eventually suffer.

BTW, while Crysis 2 isn't pushing this hardware, Crysis 1 looks and plays FAST now! :-D
