Mercenary behavior - asking for more money.

He also likes it when you kill named Gunner leaders.

He likes it when you take the ghoul kid in the refrigerator back to his folks and defend them agains the Gunner guy.

I haven't really used him as a companion. I've been stuck with Strong for a long while and he basically likes nothing that I do.

I may be misremembering but I seem to recall he likes it when you successfully pass a speech check to get more money, but dislikes it when you try for even more. Basically, greed is good, unbridled greed is bad.

Loyalty to friends and family + "enlightened self-interest". In D&D terms, he's True Neutral and will stand by those that stand by him.

When you do the Minutemen missions, he also likes it when you use the more sarcastic conversation options when talking to the settlers..

Once I took MacCready on a job that I felt could end badly, which would have irritated my main companion Piper (goody-goody that she is).

As it turned out, I was able to talk my way out of trouble at the end and avoid killing everyone.

MacCready was annoyed, at my double-cross, the lost cash, the lost combat or for some other reason he neglected to share. Ironically, Piper probably would have been thrilled, but the whole job was kind of hinkey so maybe not.

Anyway, if it looks like you are going to be offered a peaceful way out, remember that you are going to mildly disappoint MacCready. I still reached full affinity with him.

What everyone said. I don't think anyone mentioned that he also likes it when you pick locks and help children. There was one quest he loved, warning quest spoiler:

Spoiler
The kid in the fridge

No one mentioned MacCready loves rock and roll music?

What's more surprising is how Danse like country music though, he doesn't seem like the type.

The most efficient way I've seen to max out Mac's affinity is this:

1) Take Mac to one of the Triggermen warehouses in Goodneighbor

2) kill everyone in there

3) you're now alone in a building with dozens, possibly even hundreds of little items to steal

4) steal ONE item

5) quicksave

6) load the game you just saved. The timer on Mac liking something is now re-set

7) repeat steps 4 through 6

You'll have him maxed out in under ten minutes.

This is something I have been wondering as well, as my game for some reason isn't showing me messages of "MacCready liked/loved/disliked/hated that", though I did complete that quest.
