What does Relz and Wipz mean?

Post » Mon May 02, 2011 10:03 pm

Anyone? The search function is useless for this question because it just returns everything.

RELz stands for released. It indicates a mod that is done and has been released. WIPz stands for Work in Progress. It indicates a mod that's still being developed. Often WIPz are used to let everybody know how the mod is progressing and to exchange ideas. As far as using "z" on the end, I think that's an American thing

Yeah, what they said.

The 'z' was added on the end because the forum's old search function used to not let you search for words under four letters, so it was impossible to search for REL or WIP.

If you put a 'z' on the end, it makes using the search function more efficient. You can find WIPz and RELz topics much easier that way whereas searching 'WIP' or 'REL' would turn up much less usefull results I'd imagine.

No  , the "z" on the end is because the forum search engine won't search for a three-letter "word". In order to make REL and WIP a valid four-letter search term, the z is added. That way you can filter the board for only [RELz] files, or only [WIPz] mods.

 You wouldn't believe how many thingz I've seen with a "z" on the end - and they have more than three letters. Good point about the "z" though - I didn't realize that the three letter limit was why it got added, so there you go!

Replacing "s" at the ends of words with "z" is one of four things hip hop and l33t nerdz have in common. Can you name the other three?*

* I just made this up, plz don't hurt yr brain

Haha - I never knew that. All this time I just thought we were adding the "z" to be cool.

Relish Is Pickles silly
&
Whipped Cream Is Precious, Sam.

Or worse... Lol.

Coming here for the first time I can imagine all acronyms being highly confusing. Man, check the RELZ thread, you must BAIN and BOSS FCOM ASAP!

Heh, I hadn't even noticed that they changed this.

Haha true. Also don't forget to launch OBSE, it can be done through OBMM!

Here's some more advice that noobies get on this forum:
You can install OSR through OBMM by making an OMOD, but BAIN would be better. WIZBAIN is still WIP. Should get a WIZBAIN for FCOM, and one for OOO+MMM. OOO is nice, though some like ROM. Others prefer TIE over FCOM, until TIE4MODS comes out. FCOM incorporates OOO, MMM, Frans and OWC. And now there is OWC-ND as well - its German, just like B&M. Other favs include COBL, KDQ, ULs, BCs (some prefer OCR), DR5, II (Immersive Interiors? Item Interchange?), VASE, TAS, RGO, NR&B, MMO, EE, nGCD. QTP3 if you have enough VRAM, else go for QTP3R or QTP3Reduced.

Forthcoming favorites include OCA, DR6 (currently BETA), UV2 (WIP), RST (BETA), ARES, NiFSE, VORB. Oh, and don't forget to PYFFI your meshes, and run TES4LODGEN when using RAEVWD. And of course, BOSS (and BOMM if using version <1.6). OBSE is a must for OBGE, PiiP, OBME, and other awesome mods.

PS: If you read that and understand it all without having to think, you've been here too long, just like me

Ah Ha! A typo! Someone clearly needs to brush up on their acronyms. :P

It is pretty involved, isn't it... I pretty much acronym everything I talk about, and even certain people's names, and just expect people to get what I'm saying, not to mention invent a new acronym every now and then to confuse people. :whistling:

 That was beautiful...

Ani up-cased everything too - some are mixed. That's all I could think of as I read that. And yeah, PiiiP is the worst one to type.

Damn, my basics are weak  And then, I forgot JELLO, WEPON, PPP, and cleaning through TES4EDIT, and posting the resutls on UESP Wiki, and the CS, which can be downloaded from TESNexus. And there's TESA as well :twirl:

I also need to send a PM to PM for a WB update, as the SVN version is failing at CBASH. :hubbahubba:
