What does Skyrim mean to you?

Post » Fri Oct 14, 2011 8:33 pm

So lets face it. Life is hard. Whether your fourteen or forty we all have our burdens to carry.
It may be work,a failing marriage, debt, death, and the other horrible things in life.

So what does Skyrim represent to you? Temporary relief to an unending problem? Or is it just a game?

This past year has been very tough for me so to me Skyrim is hope.
Not in the sense that its the only good thing in my life but in that I know I have something good coming my way.

Video Games are a very good way to cope and I was just wondering how everyone else feels about it.
So to you is it just a game? or is it an outlet of sorts for you?

OP... I agree 110%.

I've had some [censored] come up too, but with Skyrim almost here, it actually makes my days brighter. Amazing how a video game can do that.

Really, just a game, but the interesting type where I can completely forget about everything else.

I still remember my first night with Oblivion where 7 hours just vanished into that incredible meandering around.

Doesn't it though? Even at 22 I find myself this time of year feeling like Im fourteen again. It's good that somethings never change you know?

Going into another world. As with any RPG. Why live just one life? The world of technology offers gateways to countless adventures that would never happen in reality.

So geeky as it may sound: real life is a terrible game. TES and others do a much better job at creating a game world than god did(I'm not religious sorry if I offend someone).

That's why I'm taking game design courses. I want to create more portals for people to escape. And to me Skyrim is one of these worlds...and an amazing one at that/

It means that my favorite game series is alive and well. It means that one of the things that has defined me since i was 7 years old, lives on.

Skyrim will allow me to escape from the mundane every day stuff for a couple of hours a day to a world where almost anything is possible!

Just a game.

It's the only thing I do away from the gf, even though she likes a select few games herself.

Real life has potential, but given that I can't fly a spaceship to explore the universe and visit primitive civilizations, I turn to games where I can experience that level of excitement, or at least close to it.

Earth = 4/10.
