What does the gauss attachment actually do????

Post » Thu Jan 20, 2011 4:46 pm

So i got the guass attachment for my SCAR and i cant quite figure out how it works or what it does. I flipped it on, got behind a dude (pretty much right on him) and got two shots off with it and it did nothing, dude killed me! I've had that happen quite a few times with me getting 0 kills with it so far. I'm kinda pissed i used an attachment unlock on it. So whats up with it?

From the previous flaming posts, you should know that the gauss is underpowered and useless.

The gauss rifle isn't much better. But yeah, you're much better off going with the shotgun attachment or extended mags, the gauss attachment is inaccurate and slow, I can count on one hand the number of kills I've gotten with it. I ran this thing for about 10 matches before giving up on it.

it's a very powerful attachement but you can miss at like 2 meters from your opponent. the Shotgun has less spread. even when aiming down sight, you still miss 90% of the time even when you aim center mass

it's powerful. but it's so damn unreliable it's not worth your trouble aside from quickly ending a close encounter. if you hit

I've killed people with 2 hits from close and far range, so IDK how people are not getting kills with just 2 hits. Oh, and they weren't head shots. But I don't know if the people I've killed had Armor mode or not. I think the kill I got at far range the player had Armor mode on because he was shimmering. May I also add that he was perfectly still when I shot him. Out of all the times I 2 hit killed people with it they weren't moving to busy shooting at my teammates. Even that one Guy I got at close range was kind of rarely moving but I managed to get 2 consecutive hits and a kill...

I was under the impression a Gauss hit empties the target's energy meter; meaning that, even with one hit, they're easy to finish off with pretty much anything.

Yep, that's what it does, it depletes your victim's energy. It's better to just shoot them though, since you'll have to gauss the guy, change firing mode, THEN kill. The gauss attachment is supposed to kill in two shots though.

No damage, instant energy loss.

You're welcome.

I've found it pretty useful, it's like a miniature sniper on your assault rifle. If you're good at aiming, you can get pretty easy medium range kills from behind cover. One shot and the enemy is wtf where did that come from, two shots and he's dead.

Even without the health damage, the Gauss attachment seems like it would be a very useful team support tool on Crash site, without making the user without an effective primary. By Gauss(ing) all the armoured enemies at a crash site, the rest of the team could rush in and annihilate them - kind of like a nanosuit jammer.

Does it really do no damage?
The very first shot I took with it hit someone straight in the head and killed them. Since then however it's never been quite so glorious, only head shots seem to kill.

It really does no damage at all??

it does damage. of course it does.

but it misses so easily. it's accuracy is horrible. i frakking aimed down the scope, and aimed at center mass from about 4 meters. i shot twice, got killed, watched the killcam and saw that i missed horribly

I use the gauss attatchment on my Scar with an assault scope. works wonders on pro mode. 1 hit kill, and great for sniping

I know i actually killed at least 1 guy with a direct hit but the assessment says i have 34 kills. So i feel it's safe to assume that depleting suit energy counts as a kill making it a good way to obtain experience.

Yeah, gauss attachment upgrades even if you don't use it. Just slap it on your scar and score kills with primary, they would count toward leveling the attachment. Got mine to level 3 without actually killing anyone with it.
