What does the new Elder Scrolls Installment need?

Post » Thu Jan 13, 2011 2:48 pm

What this forum doesn't need is another topic :P

There is an idea thread where you can post ideas just like this thread asks us to do.

I would like huuuuuge citys, like that of Florence in AC2.
I do not really care if most of the houses are copy-paste, and not all NPC's are to be interacted with.
Just give me the illusion of a metropolis, and I'll be happy.
Don't know if it will fit with Skyrim though!

I voted Design your own house. Why? Because that would be so awesome. And i think those kinda little things is what makes a RPG the best, when you can kill some, build some, offende some etc etc

A balanced stone, scissors, paper approach to weapons and combat.

Levitation with flying wizard battles and new levitation stealth opportunities. Ie As a vampire you could pull an unsuspecting NPC away into the night from above without anyone hearing or seeing!

More imaginative alternatives to keeping the gameplay challenging than level scaling

More voice actors (don't blow the whole budget on Sean Bean this time!

definately no weapons or armour scaling

loads of rare artifacts hidden in places like the grail temple from Indiana Jones and the last crusade! Instead of the usual caves with goblins and a necromancer NPC at the end.

A travel system that gives the real sense of journey that nearly all modern rpg's have lost! Ie crossing deserts with nothing but the stars as a guide, crossing oceans by ship, maybe a secret Island!

A low key start like morrowind (definately no CGI)

More interesting magic effects, powerful spells to look like armageddon!

An archery contest!

An arena guild quest with a story similar to Gladiator.

A thieves guild quest with a story similar to the Oceans 11 trilogy! (oblivions thieves guild quest was the best thing about the whole game I think)

A book about the Nerevarine!!!

More interesting weapon training.

Dragons!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Congratulations Bethesda!

Not voting till you cut the pork on this one. Or at least an "All of the Above, Except Multi-player" option.

Not on the list but EVERYBODY and EVERYTHING should be killable. Like in Morrowind it would tell you when the Main Quest was broken. Actions should have consequences.

Everyone who is against CoOp in the new elder scrolls, hear me out! Now I know you guys think that adding CoOp to TES would ruin its integrity but I am hear to plead to you, maybe it would work. Ok I am not talking about World of Warcraft sort of online. I am talking Borderlands 4 Player Friend CoOp. I mean for example 4 Player Campaign. As in you and a maximum on 3 friends play through the massive universe. I am not such a fan of just having AI companions I would like to have a few personal friends playing with me. Maybe going out to visit some abandoned cave to search for treasure or whatever.

Except CoOp?!? I have been dying to play Oblivion CoOp. Imagine going on some great off Journal Dragon Slaying quest with 3 of your friends.

This would make Elder Scrolls into just another MMORPG. That's not what Elder Scrolls is about. We're finally going to be able to hire or befriend NPCs to make them into companions, and that's good enough for me!

Also, I hate to admit it, but I'm addicted to Elder Scrolls Eye Candy. Everything looks so damn good. From what I understand, making TES: V into a multiplayer game would cut back on this. There are plenty other games which are multiplayer.

I couldn't vote on the poll cuz I'm liking several choices, and there's no multiple choice.

More Extensive Guilds and Guild Quests

Um, I found Oblivion's guild questlines to be pretty extensive. More depth? That's more like it. I'd like to see more depth. More warring between guilds/factions, less NPCs standing around their gildhalls doing nothing..that sort of thing.

Guild Creating Option

Hmmm...this just sounds like tons of work for Bethesda which could potentially delay the game. Creating guilds is what the modders usually do anyways.

Stylish ways in which to kill or mame your opposition.

Not sure what you mean by this. I suspect you're talking of the way some games make glorious cut scenes out of the moment of conquering and what not? Naw, I'll pass!

More Secret Off Journal Quests and Easter Eggs

Sure.

Ability to design your own house

Again, this is the territory of moders, but if Bethesda somehow implements this for Skyrim, I certainly won't complain.

More Weapons and Armor

Yes. Duh....

4 Player Online CoOp

No.

All of the Above
All the Above Exept 4 Player CoOP

No and no. :)

I said no 4 player co-op because while multiplayer would be great, I have spent a lot of time thinking about it, and I can't figure out a way to implement it without removing some of the core systems that make up this game. It would cease to be a TES game.
