Pretty straightfoward question: what does "Mankar" mean?

I'm sure some of you have seen MK refer to Camoran as "the Mankar," so has anyone figured the meaning?

wow never thought about that, some argonian and some khajiit names are straightforward, but elven names are pretty tough for me

I imagine "The Mankar" is used by MK much like "The Fonz" is used by the protagonists of Happy Days.

I think it's meant to be inadvertantly derogatory, such as, he's trying to erase any image of humanity the player might have of Mankar.

Both of those seem very uninspired and boring though.

Mankar is a term synonomous with "Monkey Emperor". Basically, all of Camoran's followers are chimps (at heart, anyway). They fling poo at each other, which results in mana blooms. And they also hang from trees by their tails when you aren't looking. Is this better?

Call me a humorless [censored], but I think you may have something with that Monkey quip.

Perhaps Mankar means something similar to how Sun Wukong means "aware of emptiness," a title meaning enlightenment.

And I'm amazed by every new word I find out that's censored.

It's not the first time he uses a title based on a villain's name in reference to them. Tharn's title is the Tharnatos, which is at once more threatening and more exciting than the Mankar.

Oh, yes, and how could I forget the Sharmat? Pretty much the only game whose villain doesn't get a cool retrospective title was Daggerfall, because it didn't really have much in the way of a villain.

I wonder where he got Sharmat from too. All the searching I got from that was a last name of some woman.

And are we forgetting 'The Underking'. Although I suppose that's less a title and more an identity.

Mankar Camoran's name has something to do with Miguel Cervantes. Just don't ask me what.

Also I looked at it like this. Judging that MK made, wrote the dialogue of, and wrote as the character, I noticed that as a six letter word, Mankar has two halves: Man Kar. So, I think that MK was just throwing a name around and maybe wanted to leave his mark on the character. Thus, took his "famous" initials and just built an elven sounding name around them. Of course, I could just be an insane person whom is bored out of his mind waiting for school to start, and whose summer job ended a week ago. Maybe if the Kirkmeister himself is on, he could shed some light on this... :angel:

Methinks "Mankar" is an obscure Shakespearian reference, being short for "male cankerblossom".

I always tend to think that there are hidden meanings in TES, but especially when it comes to MK. I imagine that the name 'The Mankar' has at least a minute amount of significance of what MK wants us to discover about the character.

I dont know if that makes sense to anyone but thats whats going on in my head.
