What does the writing in Graham's .45 mean?

I really have no idea of what the writing on that gun means. But since I finished Honest Hearts I've been wondering what does it mean.

I was taking some pics and I took this one for this thread;

(Mini-spoiler for those who haven't finished HH yet)

"And the light shineth in darkness and the darkness comprehended it not".

That comes from the King James Bible 1:5-15 "The light shines in the darkness, but the darkness has not understood it"

No problem.

I should get a bible because the internet isn't helping lol. But as I added to my last post it is from the bible, at least something close to it is, at least some sources say so.
