What I Don't Understand About The Legion

Post » Sun Aug 26, 2012 2:44 pm

So I just finished a Legion playthrough, obviously won't be putting up any spoilers here, but what is it about Caesar and hating technology? He is such a learned man, seriously, how does one even learn Latin in the Wasteland? But anyway, he knows so much about the world and the Roman Republic/Empire, and yet he just doesn't incorporate the biggest lesson that someone could learn from the Romans, building where you conquer and honoring engineering and mathematics. It just doesn't make sense to me.

Caesar isn't interested in an educational system right now, he's interested in expanding the territories and achieving his synthesis before he starts any "real" nation.
As to technology, Legion doesn't hate it. They want Energy Weapons from Van Graffs.

What Caesar is against is mind-altering chems and healing items that are basically cheating the natural process.
He wants his soldiers to be able to deal with wounds and keep on fighting instead of just popping a stimpack into the wound every time they scraqe their knee.
It will cost lives but those that survive will be tougher than others that do abuse Stimpaks.

Finally, robots.
What lesson would he be sending to his Legion if their hard work wasn't appreciated?
He won't use robots simply for the reason that he wants his army to fight the war with their own flesh and blood.
Strange as it may seem, it creates unity and loyalty.
The moment you introduce a cowardice way of fighting an enemy like with robots it's like saying "Yeah... I know that you fought your way up to become a Prime legionnaire... But I'ma use this robot instead of you."
Legionnaires will begin to question whether it was worth training to become killing machines and stepping over the bodies of even their fallen brethren if they could have just used machines from the start.

But I think he explains why he doesn't want to use robots himself through his dialogue if you question the bunker under The Fort.

He wants his nation to think inside the box, technology starts people thinking outside which leads to chaos.
Well more of the pointer pointing to the far end of good as well as the far end of bad, its creats uncontrollable thinking and mentality of pushing forward. Once its begins, theres no stopping how far both the good and bad side will go, hence as a prime example prewar and what happened eventuality. By his guide lines, its prevents the process of beginning and keeps the people controllable, which is both good and bad depending how the person up top uses the power. Basically ots a safer way for peoe to live because they accept their limitations instead of eventually trying to push thw boundary and thus creating better but at the same time more dangerous environment for the people.

Example we have much better mwdicine now today but we have more deseases as well as medicines that actually harms more than heals.
We have better transportation and can go to one end of the world to the other in ahort amount of time, but those same vehicles can reign and cause mass destruction as well.

Ceasers ideology keeps the good and bad reigned in more towards the center instead of being on far right and left feild at same time.

Just imo of how I was interpretating his plan.
