I plan to take the consequences of my actions in Skyrim. The only thing that will get me to reload, is death.

When the idea struck me, I have been even more eager to play Skyrim.

Have you tried this in a previous TES?
Have you tried it, but given up for some reason?
Will you try it in Skyrim?

Please share.

This is how I play any game I get.

Why would I constantly change my mind about the way I put together my character. If I want to try a different class or my major skills (which is the same thing) I will make another character.

I would think this is how everybody plays their characters. Guess I'm wrong!

Depends of what kind of actions: if it is about choices and consequences (which Oblivion lacked) I prefer to live with them for role playing and replay value, but if it is about something I did by mistake (sell an item for much less than its value, or kill an innocent that I thought was aggressive) I always reload.

Yup, lots of people save before making a decision and reload until they've found the solution they like best for whatever scenario they're going through. I'm a completionist so starting 30 characters just to see the possible outcomes for a situation isn't feasable for me.

For instance when dealing with Glathir in Oblivion I saved and then chose to leave him alone instead of finishing the quest...he goes on an unexpected but scripted killing spree, totally unexpected consequence just for leaving him alone. I reload and deal with him the old fashioned way rather than letting him go through with his slaugher. Since the consequences of your immediate actions are not always clear creating a save and trying multiple ways is appealing to lots of people so that they can get the desired effect.

Death, freeze crashes and glitched quests only. I strongly believe the terms 'role playing game', and 'choice and consequences', should go hand in hand. Bit of a hypocrite really, though, get far too attached to my characters to play dead is dead.

I never reload back on decisions i made. The reload system for me is only when i glitched out. For example in Mass Effect 2 when i lost some of the crew members on the last battle i never reloaded back to save them because i accepted they died in my story even though i like them. I like to play my games and accept the consequences, and that not every action will result in something enjoyable. It gives more feeling into the game and that life is not always pretty.

There was a thread in the OB section 'Which creatures do you avoid?' My answer, Spider Daedra.

OT : The old arguments, 'it's a single player game, what do you care how someone else plays?' and 'don't want it, don't use it' really do apply here. It's not a game mechanic as such, unlike say PoP's rewinding time, just a side effect of needing anywhere, anytime saves for going to the loo or eating, real life end of session concerns, and to safeguard your playthrough against crashes, so if anyone wants to reload for less than pure purposes, that's their business.

Add, to sell something by mistake and steal something by mistake, then it's like i plan to play it.

Try The Witcher 2. On insane, if you die, you can no longer reload that saved game again.

It would be quite a fun addition to havr something like that in skyrim, it would make even mundane fights actually be a real risk. Dragons would have a whole lot more menacing feel to them if they could literally kill your char completly.

I play the game the way I want and don't care what other people think of it. if some one enjoys the game then they are playing it the right way, it doesn't matter if they use cheats and a bunch of exploits.

Only reload for deaths/glitches. It's not very immersive when you reload just to prevent a consequence. It also makes the world feel more real, when your character isn't a god who can do no wrong.

Reloading is like those "Choose your own adventure book" when you were a kid, where you just revert to your last page whenever you make the wrong choice. :)

I generally play this way anyway.

After a while of playing I'll play a character where I won't even reload after death, just to see how far I can get. It forces me to play a very careful and defensive game, which can be challenging.

I always say, I will not reload, but I do. I hate knowing if I made a wrong decision, I will reload. Sometimes I don't have much time, so I do not want to start over again and play just for a different decision, espically in Oblivion where it's not really worth it for ME. So since it doesn't hurt anyone else, I reload.

I did the Dead is dead and after 25 hours of playing reaching level 12, and dieing, I coudn't restart because I would be just doing the same thing over again and it wouldn't be fun. So now when I die, i say I had premonition or a dream of my death and try to avoid it.

I will try to keep the reloading to a minimum, but glitched quests, death and accidential sells and steals. Also if I oick the wrong perk on lvl up.

Plus 60 or 70 reloads to preform a reverse pickpocket. I cheat every now and then in some way or another as well. Choice is not really a very powerful game play when In the hands of someone like me. I really don't like to fail at anything nor have some situations end with undesirable results. Like the megaton bomb choice, that really irritated me as a completionist. I don't really even enjoy Bioware games much due to their heavy narrative choices. I remember playing ME2 and got a crew member killed because of misinterpretation of what the situation called for. In practice I agree with Bioware's development choices but as a gamer I just don't like their games. I would not begrudge the "choice as a narrative style" so much if I knew more about the outcome or at least could alter it more in my favor.

Haha... Lucky me, I have a mod in Oblivion that make some locks level based, so I have practiced to realize that I can not unlock everything. :)

I do this always and only reload if there is was glitch or CTD, additionally I make my characters mortal so one dead and I roll new one, since I roleplay characters in game there some times interesting experience when I roll an character thats was previously my companion, or create ancestor guardian based on previous character, make background, create tomb or grave for deceased character, In Skyrim will play as descendant of previous character as main as well will roll some support characters to be my companions.
Having CS and awesome modding capabilities make game really resemble old PnP RPG in flexibility.

My first play through on any game, I play your "what's done is done" way unless I kill an essentail NPC.

It's not until the 2 second play through that I try to go for the best possible outcome or the outcome that I want.

Hopefully the game's replay factor will be great and I will actually want to replay the game unlike recent RPGs.
