What's a dragonborn?

Post » Sat Aug 17, 2013 7:04 am

Skyrim is by far the greatest game I've played. No other franchise is even considerably close (Fallout excluded). BUT there are tons of untouched details that I find irritating. The one I want to talk about in this thread is being the Dragonborn.

TES V seems to cater to the EVERYMAN gamer. The ROLEPLAYER is left to imagine most reasons, responses, and otherwise unfinished aspects of the game (which is also slightly empowering). There is no standard for TES to be compared to, no competition, and no one remotely close to replicating a fantasy world that is even close to Skryim.

Why would Ralof talk to a Khajit, Argonian, or elf the way he does in the wagon (GAME INTRODUCTION). Immersion is my favorite part of the game, and I think every race should be different. Very few unique dialogue options, quest options, and various other interactions occur.

What I'd like to see in the future:

1. Different starting locations for race/or styleplay.

2. Do you want to be the hero? Or do you want to mingle behind the scenes to help the hero?

3. More than one option for quests

This isn't meant to be downputting toward Skyrim whatsoever, but I thought it'd be nice to give my input. I would just like to have the option to say "What is a dragonborn?" and "Why are these dragons popping up, maybe I should investigate."

I realize I'm leaving out a mighty bulk of good reasons for this, but I prefer to keep this as short as possible.

Sounds like it should go in one of those threads at in TES Series board.

I think they wanted everyone to have an equal shot. But I agree with you there, your race should have an impact on dialogue.

Don't know if that's doable, but there's a mod called In Your Shadow that lets you beg off being the Dragonborn.

Welcome Bethesda, in the elder scrolls games, the character you play as always has to be the hero, no matter how many times you make this thread. ( Believe me I have tried it)

Btw you spelled battle wrong in your username.

I don't see what's wrong with that. I was really into Call of Duty and didn't give a damn about anything else. My mind completely changed when I saw Skyrm. I've heard of TES before, but I thought it was all "nerdy" and "stupid". And here I am, at the official forums.

Skyrim is the best game I've ever played. Is it the best game of all time? Definitely not, but it's the best game I've played so far. No other game has given me so much enjoyment and hundreds or thousands of hours of gameplay.

What's a Babble Mage? Is that like a magic oriented Bard?

Seconded.

that is not 100% true...

CoC was not originally the hero, he was Martin's Sidekick..

sure Knights Of The Nine (where depending on interpretation he may be a Shezarrine, as he was Pelinal's successor), and Shivering Isles (where he became a Daedric Prince) made him a hero.

but in Vanilla he was just Martins extremely skilled sidekick and confidant.. not something only the CoC could do.. he was just in the right place at the right time.. any skilled warrior could have taken his spot...

While Morrowinds hero, the Nerevairne was of Importance (the reincarnation of lord nerevar)
Skyrims hero LDB being the Last Dragonborn, and a Shezarrine..

yes, those two were "The hero", but CoC was just an average man (till the DLC anyways)

Come on guys, don't be mean. Stop calling him a babble mage :D .

But seriously, Elder Scrolls generally starts their games with you in prison in some form or another. This was Skyrim's way. The situation doesn't always make sense. And Ralof treats you as he does precisely because you ARE in the wagon. Even as an Altmer, you are clearly no friend of the Empire, and no friend of the Thalmor,or you wouldn't be there. The enemy of my enemy is my friend. You are going to the gallows too, remember.

I wouldn't have a problem with different races having different starting spots if they wanted to do it that way, as long as they worked it out so that modded races still functioned.

Not for most of my characters. In fact only 10 out of 35 have been the Dragonborn.

There is nothing that states you must be anything other than what you choose. The MQ is just that... " a quest" No different than any of the guild quests, really. It's just the one they chose to focus on for the promotion.

Oh... I'm afraid I'm suffering from a touch of dyslexia, so it would seem.

only if you go to Kvatch ;)

Every TES seems to have you be the prisoner that's destined to be the hero of the land...just once I want to be the innocent free man destined to be the doom of the land

No offense but perhaps you should play some more TES or RPGs.

Is his username really that big of a deal? Anyway, you don't have to be dragonborn if you don't want to be. Just don't do the main quest.

I am just saying, naming your account baddle mage and then making huge pointless threads like these, just makes you look ridiculous, if you are wondering why you got the name babble mage.

I feel the exact same way. I even went so far as to purchase and try to play Morrowind and Oblivion but couldnt get into either of them because I too thought they were "nerdy", "stupid" and flat out PAINFULLY BORING to play. I always went right back to my beloved Call Of Duty games. I decided to, for the heck of it, give Skyrim a try on 11-11-11. Was still boring at first, but when I got to about level 10 or 12, something just "clicked". To this day, I call it the greatest video game ever. Created about 30 characters, 15 or so are still active and still spend many of my available gaming hours on Skyrim.

Of course I still go back to the beloved Call Of Duty games, but Skyrim is probably the greatest game Ive played.
