What if Elder Scrolls was no more?

I would take the Blade of Woe and go emo on my wrists.

True story.

Continue playing Morrowind and Oblivion and watch eagerly for news of DaggerXL. Pretty much what I'm doing now. :D

DaggerXL?

I'm thinking the next Elder Scrolls won't be very good anyway, so yeh I wouldn't really care.

Why?

Never going to happen. They have too much to gain by making another, and another, and another... In the history of this industry, the only time a beloved game/franchise didn't get a sequel was when either the developer ceased to exist, or the title didn't meet financial expectations. Bethesda is one of the most successful and most respected developers around. They aren't going anywhere. And if they had no plans to continue the series, we would know about it.

The Elder Scrolls and Fallout are up there with Final Fantasy and Metal Gear and Star Wars and Lord of the Rings, etc. They will never die.

DaggerXL?

It's a big rework of Daggerfall's engine, allowing for a better looking game and the implementation of new features.

I think. :nerd:

While still keeping it's pixilated, 2-dimensional NPC, 16-bit musicy goodness. :icecream:

well nothing major will happen aside from the demon that is lurking inside me being awakened because only fun and games kept it happy and dormant, then their would be screaming and fire and armies shooting nukes and stuff at me trying stop the bringer of doom, and they only make the demon stronger, and after a few days its total Apocalypse and human life is no more.

I remember seeing that black guy who annoyed me to no end for some reason as your avatar, and I knew it was the sign of bad things to come :P

Was it the blood dripping from his mouth? It reminded me of vampires, which I loathe.

I'd be pretty damn disappointed but I'd move on. However, I'd be a lot more annoyed if they decided to focus exclusively on the MMO route. That would inspire some ANGAR.

I would probably download and play Daggerfall and Arena, get SI (I know, it is sad that I don't have it yet despite the fact I played Oblivion for years) and maybe even Battlespire and the other spinoffs.

I would be stunned that a company in this country had decided to flush money down the toilet.

I would also be seriously bummed out that they never quite got the series right and I never got to play the "perfect" ES game.

I would be saddened, but I will move on because Bethesda will continue making great games.

I will also frequently have nostalgia bombs when I see something pertaining to Elder Scrolls and think of all of the good times.

If TES were no more, or if it were to become an MMO, I would probably not buy anymore gamesas games. All they really have are TES and fallout, which I am only marginally interested in. The rest are stinkers like WET, which they don't actually make.

I think it would be unwise to put all their eggs in the fallout basket, and the world doesn't need anymore crappy MMO games.

What would I do ?

Same as with the end of Interplay, Troika Games, or now the bad surprise what Bioware thinks how the Dragon Age francise should progress: sigh and accept it.

Its not like I could change anything about it.

I would get upset for a period of time, and then I would play the second best thing and then go back and play any old Elder Scrolls game every once in a while...

I have played all the Elder Scrolls games. They have always been my favs. But Oblivion has kept me sane. I was laid off in 2008 and have not been able as of yet to find new employment. I'm in IT and it svcks to be in IT right now. This game has single handedly brought me pleasure during this most toughest of times. I have had pleasure in modding, adding mods, quests, etc. to this game.

Yes, I have had frustrations with mod conflicts and all but it is so way worth it. No other single game (besides Morrowind) has given me the dollar per dollar value that this game has. When I get so low so upset at mounting bills and payments and running out of unemployment benefits and the fear of tomorrow has me crazy I load up Oblivion and all of that crap fades away. It is just my characters and the game. It is so very zen. 4 Years and the game gets better and better. Thanks to the strong fan base and to Bethesda.

I would hope that Bethesda keeps it going and going for all us single player RPG fans.
