Here are a few ideas that I think would suit the overall setting of the Mojave Desert. I've tried to base them on creatures that currently exist within this setting, adding other elements to them in order to make them seem more intimidating and appropriate based on the current conditions of the world (nuclear mutation and such).

- Reanimated feral ghouls that arise from the desert terrain at night (sort of like zombies in a sense). These would be larger and bolder than that of the feral ghouls in FO3.

- Some sort of mutated cactus monster that is reminiscent in both behavior and form to that of a lion (mouth is boldly pronounced, roaring and such). This type of monster should pose as an inanimate cactus, becoming active unsuspectingly on occasions when approached (this will be random). This would also add some thrills if players in hardcoe mode were able to extract water from cactuses. They should also emerge howling in a high-pitched banter.

- Rabid, two-headed coyotes that roam in packs and attack unsuspectingly with melee-based attacks. Also carrying diseases that are passed onto the player after consistent melee attacks.

- Large ogres composed entirely of moist sand that rise from the ground unexpectedly and gradually grow bigger in size (which also regenerates their HP and makes their melee-based attacks stronger) until they're killed. Require vast amounts of melee damage or rapid amounts of firearm damage (automatic gunfire, a volley of shotgun rounds, concentrated explosives, etc.) to be killed quickly before becoming too powerful. If they form near weapons, they will take possession of them and use them against the player.

- Large swarms of small black spiders that spawn underneath corpses left anywhere in the desert, swarming together in order to take the form of the corpse and re-animate it, attacking the player with melee attacks and progressively clinging to the player if they make melee contact. Easy to take down with both ranged and melee damage, yet safer to attack with ranged from a distance.

- Something similar to the 'http://www.imperial-library.info/bestiaries/oblivion_large_clannfear-1.jpg' from Oblivion, only with the head of a desert horned lizard and larger, with large claws and multiple tails.

- A couple of gigantic monsters that spawn in specific zones and follow routes, posing a huge threat to the player. This could include a giant monitor lizard that roams the mountain ranges and blends in with them. Or a sand kraken that suddenly spawns along terrains that are predominately sand-based, flailing it's tentacles and attempting to lash out at the player, knocking them several yards away from the route it spawns in. Possibly even a large tarantula that lurks the rooftops of certain damp caves.

These are terrible ideas. This is Fallout, not "magic mutated plants/sand creatures". The mutations need to be realistic, why the hell would a cactus evolve into a living animal? Sand monsters... I'm not even going to mention how dumb that is. Kraken? Really? In Nevada? Please... and two headed animals have been done before.

Ghouls shouldn't sleep in the ground because they have half a brain, they were humans at one point, and follow roughly human behavior. Do humans sleep in the ground? No. So, do ghouls sleep in the ground? No. Animals "similar" to TES animals are a big No No too. Large swarms are spiders are believable, at least... but how would shooting at them help at all?

I actually liked the idea of living cactus, there were already spore plants in the F2 and there could be a mutated living plant or just FEV experiment

Desert Deathclaws

Starved Cannibals (instead of Ghouls)

A massive rattlesnake

huge scorpions.

It's not Fallout, without Ghouls. Specially on the West Coast, when the possibility of the Ghoul army is around?

If I remember correctly he was the Tree Man in Fallout 3. He was also in the first 2 games.

Flocks of tiny Flying Scorpions and Giant killer Sandworms sounds good. That giant snake sounds good as well. Giant Trap-Door Desert Spiders. Flying snakes like from Egyptian myths.

MGM wasn't built till the 90s or something like that. It's definitely not a 50s building.

Mutated crocodiles near water sources.

I don't think there are crocodiles or alligators in Nevada?

Actually I would very much like to see many of the creatures from Fallout 1 and 2, but re-done with Fallout3-level graphics and animations. That would really give everyone (both past Fallout fans and current Fallout3 fans) a level playing field with all our favorite monsters.

I can only imagine how wicked it will be to have all of the monsters from the Fallout world available as modding resources! Mmmmmmmmmmmm :liplick:

I felt that the clock, and times of days in FO3 were too short, and went by WAY too fast, so maybe slow down the day/night cycles to something more reasonable than whenever I check the time of day, then check it again second later, there's already been like an hour or so passed!

Maybe a giant snake mutated with scorpion and crocodile?
animal ghoul, it could be any animal.
And biggest FEV experiment, but what could it be??
I want to see a new agile and strong monster that can walk on the ceiling or climb on the trees or buildings, because it's mutated with a spider like spiderman, it could look like http://images2.wikia.nocookie.net/fallout/images/7/7e/Fevfailure.jpg he would have spikes on it's fists with acid in them so if he would hit u the acid would burn u, acid would do nothing to that monster, he would be so strong so he could grab u and throw, or brake the doors, at night he wouldn't see anyhing so he would be easy to kill, u wouldn't be able to damage his extremities and also he could grab different monsters and hit u with them, fire would do damage to him but very little so it wouldn't be good way of killing him, also the bullets would do only little damage to him, so it would be good to use plasma, bombs or laser to kill him, every melee weapon that isn't sharp wouldn't do nothing to him, and if u would try to hit him he could grab your hand and brake so your hand would be damaged and u would have to use stimpacks. He should be like 1.5 to 2x big as human

Edit: that monster also would be mutated with scorpion so he would have the scorpion tile and he could attack u with that

Imagine that monster grabing the super mutant behemoth and hitting u with him. It would be funny :D

Those Mantis swarms from fallout 2 would be neat low level creatures.

I thought it would be neat to have an encounter where you come across some sort of vagabond who got lost in the desert and went insane and is having
hallucinations from lack of water/sleep/food or whatever. He would still be armed and might have some drugs left on him and maybe even a crude shelter set up near by
made from his broken down vehicle or the carcass of his pack animal.

You could talk to these people in some cases, but it would be very difficult to keep them from attacking you seeing they have gone completely mad.
Some dialogue ideas would be things like convincing him that a mirage in the distance is actually water, which would send him running off into the horizon. Or maybe
that the sand is actually very tasty and nutritious! He would then start shoveling sand into his mouth which would cause him to choke and die.

The actual dialogue with these guys would be very funny and strange due to their mental state and it would
be nearly impossible to reason with them. (If they don't notice you you could hear them rambling insanely to themselves and such.)

But all in all..These encounters will mostly end up with the crazy bastard just trying to crack open your head and drink your sweet, sweet brains. :vaultboy:

and how about monsters that can not only hit u but also grab u and do something to u (e.g. r*pe you), i mean every monster should have it's special attack, it would be cool.

By the looks of things from the Trailer The game is going to take place somewhere in the middle east or Russia, I'm saying middle east because of the Flag that was right next to the guy in the gas mask.

I think actual military factions are probably going to have a big role in NV. The city looks really high tech so either it is the institute or. . . Puts on flame suit . . . parts from the space ship the LW destroyed in Zeta.

At the end of the trailer the guy in the gas mask next to the flag seems like Spetsznaz. If the game does take place in America then maybe we will have a chance at seeing the Enclave be the good guys and perhaps The B.O.S. teaming up with them.
