What epic voice...

Post » Wed Mar 30, 2011 7:56 am

...do you guys think Bethesda has chosen to voice act a role in Skyrim? Other than Max Von Sydow, of course. IMO, Max Von Sydow has a pretty epic voice and I never even heard of the guy before this game was announced. I'd make a poll but I have a feeling there will be many different answers. I'd like to hear Terence Stamp's voice, maybe as some relation to Esbern.

Discuss.

Max Von Sydow is the old priest in The Exorcist.

Its less hassle to have a pro, even if you could have a novice with a great voice for less pay.

More hassle is worth it if the characters voice doesn't change 3 times while you're talking to them.
Saying it would require some more work is a bad excuse if you ask me.

But seriously, Bethesda said there are going to be more actors than in Fallout 3, which had 36 actors.

That's why you would want the pro, no?

Time is money in the studio. If a pro does their lines right the first take, and does exceptionally well; that's worth the extra money IMO.

Good actors > famous actors / more actors

This!

I'd rather have a few very good voice actors than a lot of very bad ones...

I think's it's safe to say each race will have more than 1 voice actor this time.

Are voice actors that hard to get.. By now i believe its safe to assume that Bethesda is getting a lot of money from their games.. So hiring a lot of voice actors couldn't be that hard..

I didn't have an issue with that, what I did have an issue with was one voice actor for two or three races. One VA for only one race/gender combination isn't as bad by any stretch of the imagination.

I think they got Charlie Sheen to voice the Khajiit.

Yeah his tiger blood and tendency to 'bang seven gram rocks' would make him ideal.

The ideal scenario would be to find his character fighting off a bunch of trolls with his fire breathing fists

Banging seven gram rocks of moonsugar ftw.

All I care though, is that whoever the wonderful person to do the Dunmer voices in Morrowind is back. As long as that happens, I can die a happy Count.

Edit: It won't, I know. But I can dream

Save the money from celebrity voice actors for more important things, like: even more voice actors (as long as their good as well of course), climbing, mounts, even more work on graphics, combining spell effects fully, etc etc...

As long as the voice actor is good, I don't give a crap how famous he/she is. And a voice actor doesn't need to be famous to be good.

Famous actors = more sales = more money to spend on other things
It's not important to the core fans who are on here but is a selling point to a lot of others who are sadly in the majority.
