What ever happened too...?

Post » Wed Dec 14, 2011 6:39 am

I thought we were suppose to be able to change the "economy" in the game, but so far I don't see it. Either I am doing it wrong, or it's not in the game. Another thing I rememeber Todd Howard was saying that arrows are suppose to be scarce and we should treat them like gold. Well mabye because I don't use my bow much, but I have plenty of arrows and I don't see no shortage of them at all. I have plenty of arrows and think even if I use it as my primary weapon, I will never run out.

So what else was suppose to be in the game but is not? Maybe people have the answers for as to why it's not in the game. I know there is suppose to be alot more in Skyrim but for the moment can't recall what was suppose to be in the game but is not.

Yea, all I can think of right now is the Economy thing. I've looked through the Prima guide and the only way you can change it is to forge the sales books in stores but there is no mill sabotaging as far as I know.
Btw, expect to see a bunch of people claiming certain features aren't in the game even though they haven't played enough to find them :P

Can't say I've ever seen a dragon drop a giant or throw a guard around either.

The only things I see that affect the economy are the perks in the speech tree. For example, the investment perk allows you to invest in a shop which permanently increases their stock and funds.

I saw the dragon in the first sequence of the game throw a few NPCs around. If you hang around for a while before going into the barracks, you might see the dragon pick up some of the NPCs and throw them around.

Didn't the Prima guide say there's quests that give extra perk points as rewards? I haven't seen any of those.

I suspect some things, like the economy thing, may be added as a DLC.

Dragons most certainly do throw around NPCs.

I forget what it was, but I looked up something from Skyrim earlier and came to a review from back in June. Ironically enough it was all about how wonderful the new inventory system was and seemed to have been written by someone that had first-hand experience (from E3 or something). One of the things she mentioned is that the maker of an item is supposed to be listed along with detailed stat's. Everything else she said was accurate.

I think there are quests that give perks, not points. Like 'Unfathomable Depths' gives you a perk, under Active Effects, that increases the strength of Dwarven armor by 25%.

In their infinite wisdom, Bethesda decided to scale every town's economy to your character instead.

the dynamic economy is a definite one that is missing.

That would be Alduin; it does happen on a couple of occasions but all of them seem scripted... it certainly doesn't seem to happen dynamically like Todd Howard claimed at E3.

I think what we need to remember here is that any given game will have a lot of hype before it comes out, and a goodly amount of that can come from the developers. I also remember official interviews where Howard was all "economy" this and "so much you can do" that. Thing is developers have been known to exaggerate details pre-release and make them out to be bigger parts of the game than they actually are. As for economy, all I've heard is rumors. Supposedly by chopping wood, mining, and smithing you can boost an area's economy, but once again emphasis on "rumors." Far as I've experienced, all these methods are good for is to add depth to the game and get you some dough if you're really, really hard up for gold.

It's a dragon finishing move. Exactly the same as an NPC doing a finisher on you, or your companions, a dragon sometimes makes one on you or whoever it happens to be fighting at the time. Just as some people are complaining that they have reached level 30 without ever seeing a random finisher, you're just unlucky not to have seen a dragon do one.

Yep... people just doesn't seem to realize it... those are really finishing moves...

Just go and stand in front of a dragon with low health.... Ever since i find Elder/Ancient Dragons i have to use my bow and keep distance as they constantly eat me even at max health..

New combat system?

Far as I can see, this is Fallout 3 combat with swords...

Sorry, but it's true.

They need to play some Ninja Gaiden or Devil May Cry to see how combat should feel like... seriously I dunno why they didn't update the one aspect of gameplay that pervades 90% of the game.

For arrows it depends on how you look at it.

Arrows in general you'll find tons of, but they'll be nearly all the weaker (7-10 damage) ones. Those sixy Glass, Ebony and Dadric arrows (18-24 damage) will be in short supply without exploit abuse.
