What I expected from a "city jungle"

When I heard Crysis 2 was going to be in NYC, I really thought the open environment gameplay would carry over especially since it was the exact same developers from Crysis and Warhead. I thought we were going to have the option of reaching our destinations by city blocks. For example, if I had to reach Central Park, would I take 51st street or 52nd to start off? If we had up to 2 or 3 different city block routes to choose from, the game would have been much less linear, and actually feel more like the real NYC(if you've been there you know there are ENDLESS routes to reach your destination, it is anything but linear).

Just FYI Crysis and Crysis warhead were not made by the exact same developers. Warhead was made by Crytek's sister company. Cant remember the name off the top of my head.

Having slightly less openness than Crysis doesn't hurt the game one bit.. Now, if you could alter the way the story plays out and not have specific, linear objectives, then open world would be great. Otherwise, it's just a distraction.

Crysis 2 takes the same gameplay feeling of the original and cuts out all the distractions.. Not that a complete open world would hurt the game, it's just the lack of it doesn't make it any worse. They knew from listening to feedback from the first game that they wanted a more focused game for the sequel. (Talking strictly about single player here... Which is perfect the way it is other than a few minor bugs)

I was born and raised in New York City. Crysis 2 is NOT AN ACCURATE representation of the city. And just because you stick "CELL WALLS" to cut off sections of the map doesn't make it any bit more realistic (if "my" section is being quarantined, why is that the minute I open fire, CELL soldiers from over-the-wall don't try to hop over and overwhelm me? There's NOTHING behind those walls!!)

Crysis levels are set in a few square miles. Crysis 2 levels have you choose between the left side of the street or the right side.

Same gameplay feeling?
You havnt even played Crysis.

if that is correct... so what? i for one rather prefer a large area with forests, fields, towns. insted of a street and a petrol station. if you have ever tried using sandbox 2, the maps are quite more stuffed then you would think. in the editor of crysis 2, a petrol station would.... oh wait

I think, you was childishly optimistic. When I heard that Crysis 2 will be in NYC, I thought that it will be like Half-life 2 in City 17 but bigger than it and with nanosuit. And I got from the game exactly what I thought. Although improved stealth and vertical gameplay surprise me very much.

LOL this isn't GTA, and the game would lagg like hell, if would need to make so many objects...

never knew it, but this is the first thought that came into my head after i started SP...
Crysis and Crysis 2 are too different games that have the only one thing in common - nanosuit and few mentions of old heroes. that's all

oh man comon!!! what did create CrEAtek?? skyscraqers on the background drawed with low resolution JPG??? you could say that if you had the same freedom with Crysis 1 but in CITY. yeah that must be just amazing and it take lots of time for creation
but make thin linier streets and decorate with houses on background? nah
MW2 devs did the same but MW2 SP gameplay is just as far from Crysis 2 as the Moon is far from the Earth

no with good optimization on powerfull PCs. anyway you could always low graphics option
wait... you can't becouse it's just sh1t console port..

Crysis 1 and Crysis Warhead were both linear. Each were like...well basically, using a coreographed sandbox for each level, except the levels were big and the way how Crytek could make Crysis 1 was like this: "Okay we got a few trees. To place a tree in the game, we press right mouse button. *Holds right mouse button and drags it across the whole level.* K, im done with this level :D"

With Crysis 2, Crytek made it this way: "Okay, we got that building model. Place it here and here. Then we got THAT building model...place it here and here. We got these so many posters to put all over the place. Oh yeah, don't forget we got a bar to make with glasses....and some trucks and..." You see the point im making?

Also, we don't know if the DLC is free or not. Nooooobs lol.

I've been to New York a few times and crysis 2 did not feel like new york at all. Everything was too small and linear. And how could they not have a level in central park?? Yeah apparently the ending was in central park but it was basically just chunks of it floating around with a few trees and benches thrown in. And then, you only get to play in less than one half of the area that makes up times square. No driving taxis either. No destructibility of buildings, even if they're made entirely of glass. Too much fake-looking and ugly, unrealistic color grading. I could go on and on, but this game was an insult to a great city. Hopefully eventually another game can do an accurate representation of it.
