What faction would you like to see in Fallout 4?

Post » Thu Nov 26, 2015 12:42 pm

Power armored super mutants are a bad idea. Frank Horrigan was a unique case, and the Enclave's manufacturing abilities at the time, were an exception to the rest of the wasteland, and the factions in it. Thus their ability to create a set of PA for Horrigan.

In the enhanced picture, it's pretty clear to see that the one on the left is a Super Mutant as well, especially if you zoom in. You can clearly see green skin in the knee area (especially on the left leg), the arms/biceps are green skin, the forearms are covered in some kind of bracer, the fists are green, his head is green, he has what appears to be goggles strapped to his forehead, and his armor has "skirts/flaps" that aren't on any form of Power Armor.

I honestly didn't even question if they were BoS or Mutants until people brought it up in this thread, I had to go do my own investigating to find a conclusion.

I've been spending additional time on the picture and I believe you're correct on the body, so i'm wondering why it mimics power armour so much, maybe its an deliberate attempt to integrate the Super Mutants more into the Midwestern BOS rank structure, after all getting your power armour in Midwestern BOS is a much a sign of rank as anything else and a ghoul in power armour going to look no different to a human.

I'm unsure how or even if you could integrate the intelligent Deathclaws in the same way......never mind the robotic forces that could be in the Midwestern BOS ranks.

Yeah. In Fallout Tactics, the Super Mutants couldn't wear Power Armor (while the Ghouls could), they could only wear special Mutant Metal Armor (http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Spiked_mutant_armor). But yeah, looking at that armor the one on the left is wearing, it doesn't look like anything that was just salvaged and slapped together from scrap. It's too uniform (aside from the differing shoulder shapes, his right side has a pauldron, while his left doesn't). The shoulders, bracers and "skirts/flaps" are all black with gold/yellow outlines on them. That looks almost deliberately "manufactured" for a Super Mutant.

It's hard to tell exactly what kind of weapon that Super Mutant is using, maybe a Shotgun?

I thought so to, which is why my first reaction was it look like power armour......a manufactured armoured suit for super mutants would certainly makes me learn towards them being part of a large established organisation rather than them following the usual background of needing to loot for all their equipment.

The lack of equipment on the right super mutant can also be explained by MIdwestern BOS's practice of poorly equipping initiates with leather armour, super mutant inititates probably do not get even that, they are not like Lyons BOS which is much more quick to hand out power amour.

I just released I never actually used any ghouls, super mutants or deathclaws in my BOS: Tactics squads I generally stuck with the starting characters until one of them died, luckily I generally only lost one or two in the entire campaign.

I frequently switched my squad mates out, depending on what i needed at the time, i did have favorites for certain roles though.

I used Dillon as my Sniper (Snipers become pretty obsolete late game though), Babs as my Thief, Stitch as my Medic, Jim Grimm was my heavy Big Gunner (he was disgustingly powerful), Toni was my heavy Energy Gunner (once i got the Gatling Laser), Peta, Slim or HR1205 was my regular Energy gunner, Harold was my Demolitionist, and Mother was my Stealth Killer (recruitable Deathclaws were lethal in one on one fights, but in multiple enemy fights they just got shredded apart by a hail of bullets, and unfortunately most missions after you got Deathclaws had enemies such as Super Mutants and Robots positioned in such a way that you couldn't get them 1v1).

Nope, i was working on it when i saw the enhanced pictures posted, so i didn't save the coloring changes.

Even without Barnaky they they were are brutal military organization. Forcing people to join them, Gulags, Working POWs to death, having an Inquisition and arresting people for simply having association with a criminal or any other enemy.

I hope it's not Barnaky, that ending is so boring with the bigotry. It'd be better if the Ghouls and Super Mutants were treated as equal citizens rather then "Throw them into the gulag" because welp, treating ghouls and super mutants like the people they are and being the only faction to have both in armed forces would make the MWBoS more unique and awesome

If it is black with a gold/yellow outline that could point to the MWBoS more given that was one of their alternative colors, plus with the zeppelins.

For those that don't understand why the Midwestern BoS is a big deal (and different from the other BoS branches), take a look at this. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nf0BFA2QgZA

The only question is, which ending is canon?

Hopefully the good reputation ending, that one is the best out of them by far.

But think about the Mutant Liberation Army which has Ghouls, Super Mutants, and Humans fighting for their freedom against a hateful group of bigots? Wouldn't you want to see that? Honest question. Wouldn't you like to help such a group?

Also the only endings in which Mutants are made equal are the "Good Ending" in which the Brotherhood becomes super powerful and we know that didn't happen and in "The Bad" ending in which the Calculator takes over and becomes super powerful and it is safe to say that also didn't happen.

No because I actually like the idea of the MWBoS and the liberation front is pushed to almost extinction. Literally every single ending is better then General Barnaky.

If not the Barnaky Ending then I would go for the Neutral Ending. In which mutants don't become part of the MWBoS (because they aren't shown in that ending) because I really dislike the idea of the Brotherhood being the White Knights that they are in Fallout 3 but even they shoot at ghouls. So I can only imagine how Super Awesomely Goody Two Shoes Sickeningly Sweet Bethesda would turn the MWBoS into if they are all peace and love.

I think the most likely canonical ending, is the one in which the Calculator is destroyed.

Destroyed and no brain put into it. That is the one I call the "neutral ending."

I really dont think we can bear that many new factions. There will be the Institute on one side, BoS (Midwestern or Lyons, perhaps even both) and that will be it. I hope. Because whilst its nice to have some factions to choose between, having too many will end up as a disaster.

Not every faction is a mayor player. Look at NV: Boomers, Brotherhood of Steel, Followers of the Apocalypse, Great Khans, Enclave Remnants, Chairmen, Omertas, White Glove Society... But only NCR, legion, House and Yes Man were choiceable for the major ending.

Look at the area and its density of urban living.

Id expect a "The Kings" esque faction and then one roue "Fiend" esque faction at the most on top of what we allready have presented as a Fait Accompli.
