What faction do you agree with?

I'd stab some beggar in the streets and join the Dark Brotherhood. All hail Sithis!

I agree with the Fighters Guild the most. They may all basically be mercenaries, but they have honour, never taking a contract that goes against the regions laws (therefore never taking on killings). On my first ever play through, they were the first guild I joined, as I did not realise I could join multiple ones and to me they just seemed amazing....Bear in mind I was a level one Nord who had never set foot in tamriel before and was looking for someone to help me kick some serious a**

I agree. I used the construction to get the armor I wanted. (See the DS and GS link in my sig). Although you could use the command line as well.

Thanks for the link! I shall have to check it out. I haven't yet played OB on the pc, but I've been considering it because I want to see what all the mods are like. :D

I think that's totally fair... after all,

Spoiler
If you choose to kill Syl, when you finally find her, she's wearing Seducer armor. No reason why you shouldn't have access to it once you take her place IMO.

Yeah, that's what I've always thought, too. It seems silly to only get the armor of the opposing court, when you ought to have the armor of the side you chose to take over. And, while we're on this topic, it always disappointed me (that's an understatement) that I couldn't get Syl or Thadon's regular clothes when you kill them. I mean, Syl's dress is the coolest outfit ever, and if I could get a costume like it for myself in RL, I'd die of happiness to be Syl for Halloween sometime... :flamed:

Daedra worshippers should have been a joinable faction, IMO.

When playing the game I LOVED the Dark Brotherhood but whether I agree with them...hmmmm...

Mages Guild I suppose because then you get to learn magic. :liplick:

The fighters guild and prerhaps the mages guild. Necromancy isn't something we should [censored] with. I disapprove of the dark brotherhood (Quite literally a cult that murders because a dead chick told them to) but I'd join the Morag Tong. I don't know enough about the Blades because I don't know enough about the empire's motives.

If I could just bury myself in books and research, probably the Mages Guild. But I loathe the internal politics of the MG (though at least it's not as bad in Cyrodiil as it is in Morrowind). If I could make a quiet little corner for myself, that would be my choice, but if I had to deal with the hierarchy and their squabbles, I'd rather not.

This. If I was the mercenary type however, I would join the Blackwood Company.

I suppose the Fighters' Guild. They seem quite nice for a bunch of "swords-for-hire". They've morals at least.

None of the choices really appeal to me.

Fighters Guild: A good choice, but... Honor hasn't really been a big thing for me.

Mages Guild: Nope. They are against Necromancy, which I have no qualms with. Also, the Mages Guild being the only people who can sell spells is a bit frustrating. (Unless you got enough votes with the Telvanni in Morrowind)

Thieves Guild: Nope. They steal from people, and I don't care who they are stealing from, it is still stealing.

Arena: Well, it is a bit more likely, considering both people are consenting to death, pretty much, but I still wouldn't join it, as I'd rather not have my head hewed off.

Dark Brotherhood: No. No no no no no. And I say no once more, for added effect. I'd rather not kill someone. Never, unless I really had to.

So, you have no honor, but you don't like either to steal or kill people. What are you then? A beggar?

The mages guild would be my first choice. I tend to lean towards magic users and it seems like the safest choice among the joinable factions. Just because the guild is thick with politics doesn't mean that I have to be involved. All I have to do is what I'm told until I become the Archmage.

The fighters guild can keep their honor. I'm not concerned with that. I don't particularly like the idea of getting into sword fights. I'd rather light my enemies on fire with magic than risk getting my own head cut off. The same goes for the Blackwood company.

I have no imediate problem with stealing, especially if I've been commissioned to do so but I find all of the sneaking around a bit too risky for my liking. Getting locked up isn't going to do me any good.

The same goes for the dark brotherhood. Besides I'm not too eager to start going around murdering people. That orc talking about killing a little girl on her birthday really turned me off too.

The arena just seems sick to me. I can understand someone's motivations to assassinate somebody but for hundreds of people to watch someone get maimed and slaughtered for the sake of entertainment just seems wrong in every sense. Even the dungeonesque background music is depressing.

As far as the Blades are concerned, I'm a little sceptical of their recruitment standards. I mean, there simply must be a more qualified candidate to save the world than a recently escaped convict.

The Shivering Isles? Well, I tend to avoid crazy people. They make me nervous.

All in all the mages guild is the easy choice.

Dark Brotherhood all the way, every guild uses people, kills people, and takes advantage of people. The Dark Brotherhood is at least honest about it.

Think about it.

I'll give the DB that much cred. They're honest (but perhaps misguided) about what they do. Still, I find most of the membership to be so objectionable, shallow and stupid, that I'm always formulating alternative rationales for following the questline. None of my characters would ever truly want to be part of that "family" in a million years; that's a personal choice, yes. I just don't enjoy playing "chaotic evil" toons. Neutral or lawful, now that's a bit different. I enjoy wallowing in the grey moral murk.

I have to give Beth some credit, though, since alternative rationales for playing through the questline can still make some sense.

Spoiler
In the case of my current character, she will infiltrate the DB and exterminate their known membership, thinking that it's ultimately for the good of Cyrodiil, only to discover at the end, that she's been Mephala's plaything the entire time. I do enjoy me some quagmire.

What has the DB to do, necessarily, with being sneaky? Case in point, the heavily armored orc who reminisces fondly upon the time when he splattered a child's brains with his warhammer.

The DB is about serially homicidal psycopaths, and how you, as a character, react to that.

:tops:

Just want to say this is a great post.

The Dark Brotherhood is not so much about being sneaking. The Thieves' Guild is about being sneaking.

The Dark Brotherhood is all about Splattering a kids brains with a warhammer at her birthday party, or fulfilling a someones request to kill his mother so he can save his life, or slaughtering a mother and her whole family, or killing your best friends. That's the point of the Dark Brotherhood. You don't need to be sneaky to do that.

I'm Mages Guild all the way. Advancement of knowledge? Count me in. Especially when it's knowledge about AWESOME subjects.

Sure, the Fighters are noble and all, but I doubt a scrawny nerd would fit in too well =P

Not bad, but how do you rationalize the kills you must do in order to advance though the ranks? Or are you one of those who thinks that "the end justify the means"?

I'm not personally an "ends justify the means" type, but the character is. She sees herself as good, but she's... not, really.
