What Faction do you prefer and why?

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 3:56 am

Out of interest I wanted to see what other players thought about each of the factions with only the short previews we have had...

What faction do you intend on playing first?

Do prefer one of the factions? why?

Personally I prefer the Resistance due to how bad ass they look and the fact that they are the underdogs rising up against the government. The Ark security also catch my eye because I've got a strong feeling the resistance are not telling us something and maybe they are the good guys but this also leads me back to resistance. As in FO3 and games like Black and White I have always chosen the side of evil and these freedom fighting rebels might be hiding an evil secret...I guess we will have to wait till may to find out.

So what is your view on this topic?

EDIT: But I'm with Security, because both are awesome, and both have good reasons, but Security look cooler.

For Brink, I'll mainly be playing Resistance. It is not that I dislike the Security, I feel like the Resistance have more to fight for in the long run.
The true enemy in my opinion is the faulty leadership at the top.

I favor the underdog for other reasons. The underdog specifically being the ones taken advantage of by leadership.
The great thing about this mentality is that even though it forces me to choose a side, in some conflicts, I can be on two sides at once.

Score.

Edit: I feel that it would be better to start fresh without a poll in topic. To see if we can continue a "Faction" conversation without flaming.

Security- The Resistance thinks that the Founders are just hoarding resources while everyone else has to fight for them. This leads me to think of the Resistance as being naive, because, while I don't (IN ANY WAY) love the American government, they (mostly) have a reason for everything they do. Why would this government be any different?

I concur with the "faulty leadership" bit, but I have to point out, the Security are also the ones seeing the squalor the refugees live in. I wonder why they aren't questioning amongst themselves instead of following the orders of the Founders blindly.

In my signature, the link will take you to a heavily-detailed dissertation on why I am Resistance.

Founders thoughts on science.

"Science isn't about why, it's about why not? Why is so much of our science dangerous? Why not marry safe science if you love it so much, in fact, why don't you invent a special safety door on the way out because YOUR FIRED."

Simply, brainwashing. It is very effective.
Most military service members around the world are effected by it daily.

Edit: In a sense, they could think they they deserve it in some way.

That could be used the other way around as well.

For example, why do the Resistance seem to love taking hostages?

True that. I find, that in times of desperation, the ones on the "losing" side will do just about anything to get an answer.
Taking hostages is a great way to acquire intel.

Resistance because reading Farenheit 451 and 1984 and that makes me hate governments that treat their people like crap.

i prefer security. i like to be the people who are in charge of PROTECTING everyone in general. if you want to take this in a real setting to me at least: there are rioters in the streets, they are pillaging stores, [censored] women, and they are DESTRUCTIVE. the police/army w/e is there to disassemble the mob/riot and protect everyone in general.
i also like the security because i'm joining the US ARMY later this year and i will be trained for combat, which the security also is.
the resistance are kinda like a gang of drug dealers...
IDK, i just don't find being a bad guy (resistance) appealing!!!

Resistance for these reasons... and also...
ANARCHY!!!

But seriously (without trying to go into a politics debate), i think a lot of the American Govt. and big businesses (particularly the big businesses that needed to be bailed out) are quite corrupt, hence me wanting to be Resistance.

That and ever since finding out about BRINK way back I've cosplayed The Anger at a few anime cons, so playing as security when it is not needed seems kinda... off to me I guess (cant think of the right word).

The resistance, because they're the downtrodden people trying to take control for the greater good.

I don't have a preference at this time. I like the resistance for the wild clothes, beat up armor, and rusty weapons, but I like the security for slick uniforms, heavy armor, and shiny guns

I like the fact on this game, that both of them have good reasons.
neither seems relly bad to me...

but i will go with the resistance, since this is my way.
my fellow /b/rother already mentioned a few good reasons, as to be expected. :mohawk:
