What fallout faction would you join and why:

Post » Sat Oct 03, 2009 6:37 am

Let's see... big ugly mutant freak who can withstand 3 direct headshots or some pansy-ass Lyons Pride that are going down after 2 bursts from an assault rifle (Fallout 3 damage system svcks)?

Mid-western BOS for the win !

Except the midwestern brotherhood's canonicity is questionable at best.

Really ? And is the Lyons pride vs. Midwestern BOS canon as well ? It was just a hypothetical question. :biglaugh:

If Interplay had allowed more time (and money), MicroForte would have been in a position to deliver a better game. That's fairly typical of the publisher/developer relationship. It just hurts more in this particular case, because there was a higher expectation of quality due to the Fallout name. The project wasn't completely on schedule in reality, but that was due to a couple of changes in direction during development and wasn't due to any major problems with the developer. Interplay should have taken a step back, slipped the game 3-4 months and released a higher quality game. That doesn't mean I take any less responsibility for my duties on FOT and my failure to keep the FO lore as close to canon as possible. - Chris Taylor (RPG Codex forum)

IN MOST CASES FOT IS NOT CANON :shocking:

West Brotherhood for me

The major events from Tactics (including the existence of the Midwestern BoS) are canon, while some details aren't.

And how well would the Mid-Western BOS do against the said big ugly mutant freak? Remember; their first contact with Super Mutants ended in a almost complete disaster.

I'd join the Lyon's BOS. Why?

- Good training
- Good equipment
- Good organization
- Reliable co-workers
- A worthy goal (helping humanity survive)

In the terrible darkness that is the Fallout universe there is still hope for humanity, and it is found in the weapons, armour and steely hearted members of the BOS.

What you just said can be the exact reasons for joining the Enclave you know? :P Plus they have even better tech, training, and orginazation than the BOS. They are also fighting to save humanity...

I'd probably join the Outcasts too because they know what they're doing and they get [censored] done. In a way.

And they have cool armor. Killed a whole bunch of 'em for their armor.

Just that they use different methods when they save humanity, the BoS defend settlers, offer water, fight of Super Mutants etc while the Enclave shoots everyone thats not considered pure.

Id either join the BoS following Lyons as a Scribe, or Id form/join a smaller scavenging organization.

Enclave, because I am loyal to authorities and I always wanted to kill people without any reason.

I also like the United States. Which the Enclave is.

Brotherhood of Steel.

*Cricket Chirps*

Oh......

Anyway, the Enclave don't hold any real authority, just because they call themselves the government doesn't mean they are, that goes for the "President", too. The only way they CAN make you do things is if they have a gun to your head, which is their way of asking nicely.

Reilly's Rangers for me; it's one of the factions in the game that you can actually join, so I don't have to fall back on wishful thinking, and I like mercenaries (in fiction anyway; I don't know any mercenaries in real life, and those I've heard of don't sound like nice people).

Furthermore, Reilly's Rangers are one of the more down-to-earth groups, who are not involved in any save-the-world epic plots, which suits me fine. I generally like the more prosaic parts of Fallout 3. I get bored easily with epic larger-than-life plots.

Outcasts. I like that they are about getting things done and not talking about getting things done.

Vault 101 because they seem the closest to developing video games

And because you'd be friendly with all
Enclave because you're pure
BoS because that's just how they are
Outcasts because the vault is almost the definition of tech (I would kill the outcasts anyway)
Contracters because no one wastes caps on killing someone hiding behind a 2 ton wall - it would he easier to blow up the mountain.

Oh and because your safe - but that's not as important ad the first reason

Get what done? They hoard everything for power then with that power they exclude everyone from their OC group. People like the outcasts are a massive leap backwards for mankind

None all the factions are [censored] up.

I'd go solo Vault Dweller Style.

Reilly's Rangers all the way!

It seems like they work pretty well and have less pointless squabbles then the others

For all you Outcast fans out there. Read this, I thought this was interesting. While I was playing F3, I was following an Outcast patrol (2 humans & a robotron) outside of Fort Independence going North. We were passing a few destroyed houses and making our way up to a white church. Once up there, we were ambushed by 4 raiders. I sat back to see who was REALLY stronger. The raiders managed to kill 1 Outcast soldier before all dying. When we were about to leave, I see a lone wastelander running out of the church on fire and then die. Then 2 raiders comes running out shooting. One of them had a flamer and sprays the Outcast soldier on fire. Who then runs back in between two cars. The cars explode and kills the 2 raiders, Outcast soldier & robotron.

Raiders dead, Outcast patrol dead.......Nobody won

The Enclave are better equipped in terms of men & material. There also the only faction that uses transporting ships, which helps them immobilize quickly. They also want to restore the United States. With that, there's not much to debate on. I choose Enclave.
