You can fast travel from any location to a wayshrine for a gold cost, this is to make it easier for people grouping together.

Fast travelling from wayshrine to wayshrine is free.

It doesn't really go against Elder Scrolls, since you can fast travel to every location you've discovered in Skyrim and Oblivion, this is no different.

Choosing not to play for this reason seems very silly to me, but ok.

Edit - I meant Wayshrine, not way point.

Exactly like it was in Oblivion and Skyrim. You're several years late to the 'goes against Elder Scrolls party' if you think fast travel goes against Elder Scrolls.

And it's only to specific wayshrines. Unless they changed that.

actually, it is in every TES game but Morrowind, which had it's spells (which could be abused as well, sometimes even more-so than fast traveling)

Skyrim had fast travel to any point on the map and not just to set way points. Is skyrim not elder scrolls like?

Or Oblivion it seems. And Morrowind had fast travel too technically.

Mages Guild Guides, Silt Striders, Boats, Propylon Indexes, Divine and Aumsivi Intervention, Mark and Recall were all forms of fast travel, just more blended into the game and enviroment.

I have only played skyrim so I did not want to speak up about games I have not played. There were no responses to this when I started to reply then a whole bunch posted before I hit post :-)

those ONLY appeared in Morrowind. Arena and daggerfall had fast travel just like Skyrim and Oblivion.

Yeah, I think by this point, the Ops complaint has pretty much been torpedoed.

Its actually more restrictive in ESO than it was in say Skyrim. In Skyrim you could fast travel to any discovered location, city, ruin, pile of dirt etc. In ESO you can only fast travel to a Wayshrine you've discovered, then travel on foot or mount ie horse the rest of the way.

On a map this big, no form of fast travel would be crippling......imagine forgetting something in Elswyr only to remember when you were in the northern tip of skyrim....woops, gotta run or take my horse across the ENTIRE continent......

Find yourself a guild, then problem solved.

You can have plenty of adventures, there's nothing forcing you to fast travel, just as in the Elder Scrolls single player games.

yes fast travle was in skyrim, but it was stupid to use to constantly since you would not see 70% of the world...now all the zones will be empty because everyone can just...ZIP TELEPORT to where they want to go...

Exactly, no one is forcing you or your group to use it, but there are plenty of people that simply do not have the time to walk across all of tamriel if they forgot to finish a quest somewhere.
sisko, that's not how it works, you cannot just go WHEREVER, you have to discover the shrines to fast travel there, this has been covered.

um, group finders are to actuallly be able to get groups, most of the time, by the time you got the last member of a group, the others needed to go and then you had to wait longer. Group finder makes that not that much of a problem (unless you are a DPS)

fast -travel - HAVE YOU SEEN THE SIZE OF THE MAP!!! FAst travel is needed to get back to anywhere in a decent amount of time. Also has been a part of TES since Arena, so your argument is stupid in the first place.

Menu's menu????? I have no idea what you are talking about here.

Also, if anything MMO's are MORE social with group finder and PVP, because you should be talking with your group to be prepared.

Yep because the game is literally forcing you to use fast travel, right?

It's fast travel or die!

It is in ALL TES games, morrowind just hid it behind the excuse it was a spell, the other TES games did not even bother with that. AT ths point, you have obviously never played video games before, or something else.

Ok, so a few of my guild mates have full time jobs, one of them is a cop and simply has no time to walk from one end of a province to another, being able to use the Wayshrine to get to a dungeon makes it a lot easier and saves us time so we can get to doing the dungeon as fast as possible.

There will be times when I will be wondering about exploring places and ignoring the wayshrines, and there will be times when I use them, especially when I don't have much spare time or want to jump straight into something.

So it's not stupid really.

There is probably a refresh timer on it so you can't just keep using it over and over and over again. And remember, you need to discover the wayshrine first. Also, unless you're in Cyrodill, you're not going to miss much adventures on the world map with easy mobs in between dungeons. I usually just run right past those guys anyways. Not worth the time for the gold/loot/exp received from killing them.
