What fighting style do you plan on using?

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 10:33 pm

56 Members have cast votes but a lot more than 56 votes are there, and that, my friend, is why radiobuttons rock and checkboxes svck. No way to measure what is the most popular or if some people will even use "shield + fist" when some people just vote for everything.

I voted for Magic in one hand (alteration, restoration and conjuration magic) and shield in the other.

I loved being stealthy in Oblivion so I would most likely use the Bow again. Before trying out all the others however, Magic and a Weapon sounds appealing for sheer destructive force!

Many and various, across different characters. (Didn't vote.)

But a few main ones I have in mind are:
  • Halberd or glaive + heavy armour (well-defended knight/warrior relying on block, armour, a little healing magic)
  • Short sword + shield + light armour (classic hero, versatile/mobile fighter)
  • Fire + frost spells (destructive elemental mage)
  • Utility spell + sword or mace or ranged (brutal/versatile nightblade)

Didn't I already make 2 polls about this? And one of them was more thorough? Memory's dodgy. :whistling:
On topic: spell&sword, dual wield, double-hand spell and maybe fist&weapon if it connects well.

First hit with bow, then dual weilding. Restoration may pop up when needed, but basically I'll play a fast and deadly assassin with bow, daggers (or shortswords) and tons of poison.

Probably a bow, destructive magic as a backup.

How would you even work dual shields, anyway? Constant shield bashing? If that were allowed, hopefully it would take near all of your fatigue otherwise that with a combo of dual wielding shields would actually be game-breaking strong.

I imagine it would be like in a Tom and Jerry cartoon where they bash heads using trashcan lids (with cymbal sound effects). :teehee:

I voted weapon and magic - will go for duel wielding on my 2nd playthrough.

Im wondering if , when well timed, you can get the dagger sneak bonus twice through dual wielding. 20x damage anyone?

I have no idea what I will use the most. Since everything seems like it's going to be improved upon I think I might just make a "jack of all trades" character first. Just try to get a feel for everything.

As arrows seem to be sparse I think I will be using my bow only for certain scenarios.
I will use a dagger in one hand and magic in the other for stealth such as invisibility, nighteye, life detect etc.
Dual blades (Hopefully the elven style short swords) for when I am comprimised or situations where am I forced to fight.

Stealthy I shall be.

I'll most probably be using a two-handed weapon. I used to use shield and weapon, but I want to do massive amounts of damage. (Unless it's the same as Oblivion...)

My primary character will be a Spellsword. Subsequent characters will likely be Warriors (dual axes or sword and shield) and Assassins (Bow with Dual Daggers). I never got into the big two handed stuff.

I'm definitely using Bow! Even though the arrow supply is going to be low this time around, I'm just glad that the Bows are going to be more powerful this time around. Hated in Oblivion how you would shoot and shoot until the person died it took forever.

Yeah I hated having to turn enemies into pin cushions. It killed immersion and wasn't particularly fun spamming arrows at enemies.

Bows. Bows, bows, bows.

I am an archer at heart and that's all I'll ever be. I love me some BOWS.

If arrows are limited, awesome. Bring it on, I'll go out of my way to find them and I will learn to use them wisely.

If I can make my own arrows, AWESOME. I'll run out into the forest and gather up sticks and rocks and go home and make them all day long. I love my bows.

totally agree.

My first char will be dual spell with twin staves as backup.

My second character will likely be sword and board.

At least one character will be twin maces.. my thunderdrummer likely long range twin lightning magic close range twin maces..

A least one bosmer char with a bow and at least one nord or orc with a 2 handed mace or axe.

And yes I do plan to make a somewhat oddball twin shield healer alchemist enchanter smith who will likely fight with conjurations and setting trap runes or traps if they are in...

I'll be using a bow with magic backup. I just wonder if arrows will take up the other hand slot or I'll be able to wield a spell using the other hand. Unfortunately yet logically, arrows will most likely take up the other hand slot, likely forcing me to be a pure archer if I want to use a bow, or I'll be making use of a bunch of hotkeys that may eventually result in me becoming more mage than archer.

About everything listed seems to make sense to me except for the dual wielding shields (har har) bit and anything combining fists with a proper weapon or spell.

I'll want to try and score a serious first hit by arrow and then try to finish by sword, occasionally throwing in magic (like telekinesis or so) to exploit chances.

Turn them into a porcupine

But I'll experiement with the melee aspects and dual wielding to see if I can learn it. Melee in the other games were jsut too fast and too button-pushingly complicate for me :toughninja:
