What from a different Game you want in Skyrim?

Post » Tue Mar 15, 2011 6:06 am

most of your ideas are horrible, and the ones that are ok you ruined by citing them from a game that many people would hate influencing elder scrolls (instead of jumping over stuff like in cod- a more easily acceptible explanation would be "vaulting like in mirrors edge"

if you cant make the difference between a gameplay element from a game and a game itself i dont even give a damn about what you think from my ideas.

I want a fanbase from a different game series. This one has too many people I don't like in it, but I just don't like people, in general, so it may not make a difference. :P

i think i know what you mean. most people here are Elitists and think no other game can influence The Elder Scrolls in a good way. they think people who didnt play Arena are far from being worthy of playing an Elder Scrolls game and all kinds of [censored]y like that

Arena? Most people here haven't played Arena... or Daggerfall, it seems. Most people here seem to have started with Morrowind. That's what polls asking have shown, anyway, with Arena and Daggerfall gaining barely any support on here, less so than Oblivion. This "Elder Scrolls" forum is really more of a giant Morrowind forum.

I want a sort of challenge game that you could offer some NPCs, to play with:

Like some type of race, like betting to reach a place sooner that them with horse ride, or on foot.

Or a type of card game over the tavern table with wooden slates, or some such.

Or a type of random find and seek game, or other simple quests, offered by local authority by intervals, in order to entertain and engage local population from political or financial problems, that you could join and the winners would get a reward.

Or similar types of randomly available side quests and fun games, in the middle of our more serious crusades.

@Seti, simmer down please, and cope with the fact that a lot of these people love Morrowind, and you might think blindly, but it is still a fact.

It is not practical to try to convince them all, how a bad game is Morrowind, as you think.

 an elitist like so many other terms is subjective, if you feel they are looking down on you, then I guess they are elitists. how about not label people and consider the reasons why they say/think the way they do instead of generalizing them as they do others? my case the OP listed a bunch of other games, its not that his ideas svck, they don't its that he used a host of stereotypical "mainstream trap" games to varify his examples. as if people don't know what sprint, seperate key for throwing weapons on the fly, interacting with enviromental obstacles seamlessly etc etc.

its scary when you think about it.

I'm not trying to convince anyone that Morrowind is a bad game. I don't think it is. I'm trying to convince people that their opinions are just opinions and that Oblivion isn't the indisputable piece of garbage they seem to view it as. "Little kid" this and "casual console gamer" that is all that's gets thrown around.

You have to accept the fact that some people believe that Morrowind was superior in some aspects, and as they fear that this trend might continue with skyrim, then they voice their opinions of the games.

You'ld better not try to convince them all otherwise, especially in treads that are not related directly to the subject.

I know that I will not be popular for saying this, but...
I would like to see flintlock pistols and rifles like in Fable II and III.
Nice change to bows...

Your guess is about right.

Edit: I do not think that in Nirn, when it is easy to cast magic, where you have dragons, and ogrims, then it can have no need for earthly technology like rifles and similar things.

Right, but we can have machine staves, right? :P Did anyone else think Dwemer armor in Morrowind looked like power armor and the Dwemer ruins like vaults?

I wouldn't mind cities being as believable as in Assassin's Creed, but I doubt it would happen.

Other: Nothing in that poll, double that for multiplayer, and triple it for guns.

Now if we want to talk combat where those "skills" your character has count for something besides how much damage you do when you unerringly hit...

You have a point here, but Dwemer and their technologist are long gone, and I do not think that other races did anything similar.

I wasn't trying to make a point. :D I don't want guns in the games. I was just wondering if anyone else associated those two parts of Morrowind and Fallout 3.

okay i used those games because most people played them and they can refer to something for those game play elements. and anyway i named call of duty and assassin's creed. and TES is a much more mainstream series than Assassin's creed lol

I love the magic abilities they have in that one game where you can play as either an assassin, thief or mage. And I can never remember the stupid name of it. But you can grab enemies and throw them.

From Gothic I'd like the dialogue in real time, it's way more realistic. And the open cities where you can lure beasts to distract guards.

From Thief I'd like almost everything related to stealth, sound sensitive npcs, using environment to hide succesfully.

Card games like in Red Dead Redemption. I spend so many hours just playing Poker.
I clicked on everything cause,

1. I could
2. They would all be nice to have

Also I'd like to see assassination animations so that a stealthy characters w/ daggers will be viable unlike in OB. Mounted Combat and Duel Wielding.

Please note that I have only played Oblivion when it comes to TES RPGs.

1) I want to see more racism against elves! (sorry pointy eared people, but I want to stab you)
2) Gaining a high disposition with Khajiit NPCs makes them purr when they see you.
3) I would love ways to passively improve weapon effectiveness by having weapon and magic as major skills for characters that choose combat specialization at the start. (add magic effects to power attacks without casting spells, cast weak spells using fatigue instead of magicka, alter armor weight, etc.) There could be bonuses for thieves too.
4) Give penalties to minor skills or bonuses to major skills and give even bigger bonuses to major skills that are also part of the specialization you chose. In Oblivion specialization and major/minor skills did not mean much of anything thus making all of my characters feel.....generic.
5) I want a horse in every stable and a mudcrab in every pot! .....wait that was my slogan when campaigning for emperor.
6) I want location specific damage and effects....SWEEP THE LEG!
7) I think adding persistent location targeted spells, like the grease example, would be interesting, but only if you have to fight lots of enemies at once.
8) I want to get a bonus for becoming skilled in weapon use that gives a morale boost upon killing enemies, removes negative status effects on the character and/or restores a temporary boost to fatigue generation.
9) Remove the quest target marker from the compass OR the map.... either would be great.
10) Fix alchemy and magic so that you can not stack tons of fortify spells with similar effects. You could literally get statistics well into the THOUSANDS if you tried hard enough.
11) Make it so invisibility is only effective if you engage in stealth mode while it is active. To clarify, I mean just initiating the mode while the spell is active without the requirement of a successful sneak attempt.
12) It is really late and I feel lobotomized by sleep deprivation.......

Anyone find some of this stuff interesting?
