What from a different Game you want in Skyrim?

Post » Tue Mar 15, 2011 5:14 am

I was wondering what kind of things would you want to be implemented in Skyrim (not from another TES game) for my part i would like to be able to climb over obstacles like in call of duty and to throw ranged weapons with a button like (even if you have a sword and a shield you can throw a shuriken or a throwind knife) i would also like the quest marker to merge into an area marker like in Assassin's Creed.

List of most things suggested.
- Flammable objects as in Far Cry 2?

- Destructive environment from Crysis

-Combat system from Dark Messiah

-Character customization from APB

-Music from WoW

-Graphics from Crysis

-Playable world size from Darkfall

-Playable world diversity from Lotro

-Companions from Baldur's Gate

-Real time dialogue from Gothic

-Stealth Elements from Thief

I-Games against NPCs including:
;some type of race, like betting to reach a place sooner that them with horse ride, or on foot.
;a type of card game over the tavern table with wooden slates, or some such.
;a type of random find and seek game, or other simple quests, offered by local authority by intervals, in order to entertain and engage local population from political or financial problems, that you
could join and the winners would get a reward. As in GTA and Red Dead Redemption

-Flintlock pistols and rifles like in Fable II and III.

-Scars from fighting as in Fable.

-Mounted Combat from Mount n' Blade

-Tactical Spells from Dragon Age Origins

Suggested but NOT from another video game

- More racist themes.
- Gaining a high disposition with Khajiit NPCs makes them purr when they see you.
- Ways to passively improve weapon effectiveness.
- Give penalties to minor skills or bonuses to major skills.
- Location specific damage and effects....SWEEP THE LEG!
- Fix alchemy and magic so that you can not stack tons of fortify spells with similar effects.

Sprint would be okay, would really care if it was or wasn't in. I think it would be gimmicky. and Coup De Grace moves would be cool.

a thread is up about including mainstream games in Skyrim Burn him, is what a normal ES fan would do

but I think it is a great idea to include other things from games, especially the QM from AC2, since people have been fighting about it

how it would be gimmick? it would just be useful if you need to run from combat reach a destination faster or whatever other things you want to sprint for. its not 3D its just a game feature thats now important in every FPS games and TES is a sort of FPRPG

@Swarley its not because a game is mainstream that every aspect from it is crap and that you cant take inspiration from it to make a better game.

I'd like Skyrim to be an Elder Scrolls game in the spirit of the others before it. None of your suggestions make any sense for the series. There were throwing weapons in Morrowind but they are absent in Obivion for whatever reason.

because the other threads are reduntant the things the only suggestions that keep coming back are whining about how the next ES should me more like morrowind. so here i think we could get different suggestions about NEW stuff to add to the game.

Better assassination options, similar (yet somehow different) to Assassin's Creed. I'd like to feel more like the careful, sneaky assassin, rather than just go in and cast some fireball spell.

Good job you didn't put levitation as one of your options then........ I know what you mean though, all this oblivion v morrowind chutney is doing my head in. I dont care if people prefer morrowind, as long as they keep it to themselves in a SKYRIM forum

I wouldn't mind if Skyrim's stealth gameplay were a blatant ripoff of the Thief franchise.

most of your ideas are horrible, and the ones that are ok you ruined by citing them from a game that many people would hate influencing elder scrolls (instead of jumping over stuff like in cod- a more easily acceptible explanation would be "vaulting like in mirrors edge"

From Dragon Age: Origins, I want tactical spells that are useful by controlling the battlefield:

Grease Slick - to delay an angry crowd of foes charging at you
Fireball - to knock down an angry group charging at you or to delay enemy archer fire by knocking them down
Grease Slick + Fireball - anyone who passes immediately begins suffering fire damage

Freeze ( Destruction ) - to delay one enemy
Charging Boulder ( Destruction ) - to knock down an enemy
Freeze + Charging Boulder - shatter an enemy, killing them regardless of health

Force Field ( Alteration ) - stasis on one foe or one ally, temporarily takes them out of the fight by holding them and preventing them from taking damage
Hostile Visage ( Mysticism ) / Taunt ( class power ) - cast on foe or ally and that person becomes a decoy, all hostiles focus their attack that one person
Force Field + Hostile Visage - all hostiles focus their attack on one target but cannot damage them. Fireball that target and everyone else takes damage while they do not

Are you kidding? Just because a feature was in a game that you don't like, does not mean that the feature is a bad idea. Everything should be judged by its own merits. I mean, just because you can jump in call of duty, doesn't mean jumping in any game is now blasphemy.

Personally, I think sprint would be a fantastic idea. How often do you see a sword fight where both guys are just running around at a static pace? You should able to run towards opponents to strike quickly, or avoid incoming attacks by sprinting left or right and doing a side step.

I don't think climbing has much of a place, unless we could use it to climb onto very high ledges that we normally couldn't jump to. Being able to climb smaller objects has little use when most characters can just jump 15 feet in the air over it.
