What from Elder Scrolls can fit in Fallout 4?

Post » Tue Dec 01, 2015 9:37 pm

Ignoring the knee-jerk "OMG, keep TES out of Fallout!"..... realistically, any number of melee weapons would fit into the game. Either as loot from sporting-goods & hardware stores (bow, axe, machete, sledge, etc) or from museums & officer's equipment (swords/etc), or from Tribals (crude bows, clubs, spears & javelins, etc.) FO2 & NV had spears & throwing spears for tribals, but they didn't bother to try to stick bows/crossbows in (the game is already loaded with guns for ranged weapons, & bow wouldn't fit under Throwing skill or Guns skill. So, bows not included for game design reasons, not because "they don't fit"....)

That said, it's still the same issue - with all those guns/energy weapons/big guns, where do you fit a bow in skill-wise? Any melee weapon can fit into that skill, but bow & crossbow are the odd men out. Having them under gun skill would be silly, but making a whole skill/perk-set for them isn't worth it.

(actually, if you think about it - we did have a crossbow in Fallout 3: the Dart Gun.)

Regardless of all this, none of it would be "reused" from TES. Other than the basic concept "hit people with heavy/sharp object". Any melee weapons would be new models/textures that fit the overall art style.

Yes...kinda. It needs to feel Fallout-y enough. So really '50s-y or really tribal.

Hmm, well...We got metal armor and power armor, which is pretty close to pull on plate armor...

We've seen swords...since we still have swords today, but most of them are decorative. Most you might find in the Wasteland are made from scrap metal, unless there's an enterprising black smith out there who re-discovered metalurgy...Not holding out hope...

Shields are just planks you hold in front of you...

Bows and Arrows, still very common today...And a simple survival device to construct.

Magic is...Well, let's be serious...fireballs and lightning bolts...? Come on, let's be a tiny bit serious.

Magic, or "magic" in Fallout would be like...Charms given by a shaman of some tribal group. Talismans. Lucky charms. Lucky rabbits feet.

Full on sorcery is just...way out of left field for the genre.

A drug induced trip to kill a big-ass Yao Guai.

You had to get high as balls to talk to Harold too.

Let's go further. They should stop fooling around and finally merge the series' into one entity. It's not a long jump from where things are now.

Nothing, I really hope that they keep TES and Fallout as far away from each other in terms of gameplay mechanics among some other things though it seems like that won't be the case.

I wouldn't mind some little easter eggs though, as long as they don't turn them into DLC later.

Merging them would certainly make Fallout inrteresting. It would make for a good roleplay.

As far as the topic I would like a good alchemy system that willlet us make drinks to buff attributes or poisons to damage them.

Fallout 5: Beyond Skyrim.

We could have the Deadric Princes tear a portal in reality that would allow the Altmer to invade a new land only to find it a hellish wasteland. And incur the wrath of the Brotherhood who slay Thalmor by the thousands with gattling lasers.

We're talking about a series, where you get kidnapped by aliens and meet samurais on their spaceship. And you want to claim that shooting fire out of your hands would seem out of place? I think it seems like the next logical step, there is nothing wrong with adding a bit of the paranormal or supernatural.

Sounds like someone wishes the Dwemer had invented projectile weapons, specifically guns, in TES canon. Sadly, I don't think TES will be getting guns nor Fallout magic for the matter. It's just the way things are.

Love the horse idea. Worked perfectly in the RDR outback. Which wasn't far off from the wasteland if you consider the mutated fauna aspect. Especially since it doesn't appear we're getting the use of drivable cars or bikes

Bethesda should make a mobile turn based RPG using Fallout Shelter style graphics where you travel through dimensions into various Bethesda Game universes Kingdom Hearts style. You could recruit inhabitants and score loot from worlds of The Elder Scrolls, Fallout, Doom, Dishonored and more while battling against some larger threat. It could have a humorous tone, and break the 4th wall with corny jokes. I think it could be a fun concept.

They had the Chinese officer sword and there was a recipe for a Railway Rifle, I can't recall if the Spike Gun was in FO3, FO:NV or both but it shot railway spikes. Close to a Crossbow.

There were other weapons that are already there like the Shishkebab, Axe, Ripper, Super sledge. I also found the Bumper Sword to be mildly amusing and over the top. There were also Protonic Axes in DLC for FO:NV.

Otherwise I agree with others that bows probably should stay out because the gear and tech. used is similar to settings like Flash Gordon. Although there were Throwing Spears in FO:NV and FO2. Some of the above content and already seemed out of place but if you didn't want to use them you could just sell them. Hmmm....

TES needs more hats. I was shocked in Oblivion when there weren't any pirate-ish hats given the pirate/nautical theme of Anvil and Imperial City Docks.
